Greece Boat Tragedy: At Least 209 Pakistanis Were on Board, Data Suggests

At least 209 Pakistanis were on an overloaded boat that capsized and sank in open seas off Greece last week, according to data shared with Reuters on Thursday by a Pakistani investigative agency.The figure of 209 is based on information provided by families who came forward to say a relative of theirs had boarded the boat heading from Libya towards Greece and were still missing, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said.The official death toll from the accident still stands at 82 and the number of survivors at 104…

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Overhaul the Tanker "Jabbar Hashimov"

The tanker Jabbar Hashimov owned by the Transport Fleet of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ACSC) underwent complete overhaul, said a press release from the  Azerbaijani shipping company.As part of the overhaul undertaken by Zigh Shipyard and Repair Plant, the underwater and submersible parts, the main deck and the bridge passage of the tanker were cleaned and painted. The main and auxiliary engines and the pumps of the vessel were also overhauled.The control system of this floating vehicle has been adjusted. Brent Oil Stays Above $60

Brent oil held above $60 a barrel on Monday, near its highest since mid-2015, on expectations OPEC-led production cuts would be extended beyond March although rising Iraqi exports put a lid on prices. Brent crude futures were up 10 cents or 0.2 percent to $60.54 per barrel at 1:39 p.m. EDT (1739 GMT), close to its highest level since July 2015. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were 14 cents or 0.26 percent higher at $54.04 a barrel. "The market has rallied pretty significantly and I think it's predicated on the fact that the Saudis and Russians are continuing the cut agreement," said Gene McGillian, manager of research at Tradition Energy in Stamford, Conn.

Main Iron Works Built Tug Returning Home

Marcon International, Inc. of Coupeville, Washington reported that the 5,570BHP tug Jabbar has been sold by Awal Marine Services of Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain to TradeWinds Towing LLC of Saint Augustine, Florida. Jabbar, meaning “powerful” or “tremendous” in Arabic, was originally built by Main Iron Works of Houma, Louisiana as their Hull 335 for McAllister Towing & Transportation of New York. The twin screw tug was operated by International Tug Service, a joint venture company between McAllister and Arabian American Oil Co. Ltd.

Cairn Eyes Offshore Exploration in Bangladesh

Oil and gas firm Cairn Energy announced plans for further exploration and development drilling in Bangladesh's offshore gas field. Cairn Energy is currently operating Bangladesh's only offshore gas field at Sangu in the Bay of Bengal, off Chittagong port. In addition, Cairn is actively exploring in blocks 5 and 10, where new seismic data has been acquired, and is participating with Chevron in block 7, where a seismic campaign commenced recently. It has identified a new possible gas field at Char Jabbar under Noakhali district in block 10 with an indication of 2.8 tcf of gas reserves. Cairn also conducted seismic surveys at Meghnama and at Hatiya under the block 16. The possible gas reserve would be 3.5 tcf at Meghnama and 1.8 tcf at Hatiya, Reuters reported.
