ABS Nautical Systems Realigns

ABS Nautical Systems (NS), a division of ABS, a classification society, announced a series of senior management changes and established a new client-centered operational structure to strengthen its portfolio of fleet management software services for the marine and offshore industries. Karen Hughey, who joined NS in January as Senior Vice President, has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer, replacing Jack Kitchura who has retired after leading Nautical Systems for the past ten years. Hughey had previously served as Vice President of Application Development for ABS.

ABS NS Software Helps Secunda Marine

ABS Nautical Systems (ABS NS) has taken the traditional purchasing relationship and automated it to provide shipowners and operators with a more efficient way of obtaining competitive bids and more responsive service with its eProcurement product, an extension of its Purchasing & Inventory software module. Nova Scotia-based Secunda Marine Services Limited (Secunda) is the latest operator to implement ABS NS eProcurement as part of its overall fleet management strategy. The SafeNet eProcurement solution simplifies the placing of Requests for Quotation (RFQs) via email to multiple sources. Savings flow from the automatic population of a client’s SafeNet database with vendor RFQs, eliminating the need for the re-keying of prices and delivery times.

ABS Nautical Systems Installs Software at Maine Maritime Academy

ABS Nautical Systems has installed its entire suite of leading fleet management software at the Maine Maritime Academy. The software will be installed aboard the training ship "T/V State of Maine" as well as used by the Academy to manage its various other waterfront assets. The powerful suite of integrated modules includes: Maintenance and Repair, Purchasing and Inventory Control, Financial Reporting, Crew Management, Crew Payroll, ISM/STCW Compliance, Document Management, Vessel Drawings and Hull Maintenance. According to ABS Nautical Systems America's Regional Business Development Manager Joe Woods, the software will enable students to familiarize themselves with the latest IT tools installed with various operators around the world.
