Brazilian Offshore Uptick Could Tighten US OSV Fleet

Increased activity in the Brazilian offshore oil and gas sector could help strengthen the market recovery for offshore supply vessels (OSV) in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.In early October, Brazilian state-owned oil company Petrobras issued requests for quotations (RFQ) for up to 20 OSVs ranging from 3,000 to over 4,500 deadweight tons to support upcoming drilling and production activities. Caterpillar to Pilot Hybrid Solution on a Jackson Offshore PSV

Jackson Offshore Buys Platform Supply Vessel. Five-year Charter with Shell Secured

U.S.-based offshore vessel owner Jackson Offshore Operators has acquired the M/V STORM platform supply vessel.Once it has completed regulatory requirements, the M/V STORM will start a five-year contract with Shell in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.Built in 2015, the M/V STORM is an MMC-879 design PSV, DP Class 2, and diesel-electric propulsion. It is 260 feet in length with a carrying capacity of 4,200 T DWT. The vessel is expected to go into service immediately upon completion of a special dry-docking survey. BAE Systems Delivers Tug to Seabulk Tankers

Built at BAE Systems’ Jacksonville, Fla. shipyard, the new tug Sea Power has delivered the tug Sea Power to Seabulk Tankers, Inc. to be used to enhance the shipper’s Jones Act coastal operation, powering barges that transport chemical and petroleum products between U.S. ports. Sea Power is a 141-foot-long, 12,000-brake horsepower, twin-screw tug that will work in tandem with a high-specification, 30,000 deadweight tonnage chemical tank barge as an articulated tug and barge unit. BAE Systems and Guido Perla & Associates, Inc., of Seattle, Washington, designed the vessel.

Offshore Vessels: Squall Delivered to Jackson Offshore Operators

BAE Systems delivered its fourth and final of series platform support vessel (PSV) to Jackson Offshore Operators, LLC, completing a four-ship program that began in 2012. Motor Vessel Squall joins three other vessels built by BAE Systems’ Jacksonville, Florida, shipyard to support U.S. offshore oil exploration. Squall is the fourth vessel of the GPA 675J class, designed by Guido Perla and Associates of Seattle. Construction of the 252-ft. vessel began in December 2014 and it was delivered on January 31, 2016.

GPA-designed PSV Launched for Jackson Offshore

On January 29, 2014, the Breeze, designed by Guido Perla & Associates, Inc. (GPA), was launched at BAE Systems in Jacksonville, Fla., for Jackson Offshore Operators. Breeze is the first of the state-of-the-art GPA 675J PSV series destined to operate in the Gulf of Mexico. “The launching of the Breeze represents a huge milestone and it gets us one step closer to our ultimate goal of delivery. We are very thankful to our partners BAE, GPA and Rolls Royce for aiding us in getting to this point.” said Lee Jackson Chairman/CEO of Jackson Offshore Operators.

BAE Systems Launches Jackson Offshore PSV

BAE Systems launches the M/V Breeze from its Heckscher Drive shipyard on Wednesday, January 29.

BAE Systems today launched the first of four platform supply vessels it’s building for Jackson Offshore Operators, LLC. These vessels, which will support drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico, reflect BAE Systems’ continued growth in U.S. commercial shipbuilding and its support to the offshore oil and gas industry. The launch ceremony for the M/V Breeze included representatives from both companies. Lee Jackson, chairman and chief executive officer of Jackson Offshore Operators, initiated the launch and the vessel moved swiftly and safely into the St. John’s River.

Rolls-Royce, GPA Collaboration Pays Dividends

Rolls-Royce and Guido Perla and Associates, Inc. (GPA) collaborative efforts are delivering results for customers in North America. Rolls-Royce and GPA most recently teamed up last year to provide a highly innovative design and power & propulsion systems integration solution for two PSVs for Jackson Offshore Operators. Delivery of the first two GPA 675J PSVs, currently under construction at BAE Systems’ shipyard in Jacksonville, Florida, will be made in 2014. The option for two additional vessels of the same type was exercised earlier this year.

BAE Systems Lays Keel for Jackson Offshore PSV

BAE Systems holds a keel laying ceremony for the first of 4 platform supply vessels for Jackson Offshore Operators. The new vessels, which will support drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico, reflect BAE SystemsÂ’ continued growth in U.S. commercial shipbuilding and its support to the offshore oil and gas industry. Concurrently, the company also began construction  on a second vessel. A keel laying ceremony is a shipbuilding tradition that celebrates the beginning of the life of a ship. "“We are excited about this great milestone,”" said Jackson.
