From a single newbuild and repair yard near Rotterdam in 1927, the family-owned Damen Shipbuilding group has expanded to 38 shipyards and related companies involved in new construction as well as repair and maintenance activities. Now with more than 8,000 employees and a presence in 34 countries, the Netherlands-based Damen group has become one of the world’s most successful shipbuilding businesses, thanks largely to its production methods and ever-expanding design portfolio. When Kommer Damen began running the Damen company in 1969, he made changes to the company’s operations instantaneously.

Damen Launches New PSV Series

The first deliveries from Damen Shipyards Group’s extensive new offshore portfolio open the way to the realization of the global group’s strategic ambition to challenge comfortable preconceptions on how best to source high performance ships in this specialized market. The first of six Damen PSV 3300 vessels, built for Norwegian offshore support company World Wide Supply, is being delivered this week. These 3300’s are part of Damen’s new range of platform suppliers, based on a new, more efficient hull shape. The 400-ton deck capacity PSV 3300 has been designed and built in line with Damen’s E3 principles - Environmentally friendly, Efficient in operation and Economically viable.

Europort Brings Offshore Shipbuilding into Focus

The offshore market remains buoyant, with exploration and production driving new fleet investment, design innovation in vessel efficiency and reduced environmental impact. Operations in more challenging offshore environments are also demanding enhanced vessel maneuverability, station-keeping and overall safety, in line with tightening regulations. The sector’s opportunities and its cutting edge technology will be on show at Europort 2013, the maritime exhibition taking place at Ahoy Rotterdam November 5-8, 2013, said Raymond Silliakus, Europort Exhibition Manager.

New PSV Orders for Damen

World Wide Supply orders 2 more Damen Platform Supply Vessels. Norwegian shipowner World Wide Supply (WWS) has ordered another two PSV 3300 CD’s with Damen Shipyards. The two platform suppliers are added to the four that WWS announced to be built in December 2011. The extra vessels will be delivered end of 2013 and operated by Remøy Management AS. Mr. Ståle Remøy, Managing Director of Remøy, says: “We are glad we have been able to achieve another two ships from Damen of this modern design.

Damen Set to Launch New PSV Series

Damen Shipyards will unveil its new Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) at EUROPORT 2011 and will launch a complete PSV range in the next few months. The PSV 3300 E3 is a dedicated supply vessel to transport supplies to oil and gas rigs and is specifically designed to perform safely in adverse weather conditions. The first two vessels will be built at the renowned Damen shipyard in Galati, Romania. Delivery is scheduled for early 2013. Damen’s new vessel series will range from the smallest PSV of 1,500 dwt to the largest of approximately 6,500 dwt.
