ABB to Equip Entire AIDA Fleet with SEEMP

ABB will deliver energy monitoring and management system EMMA to German-based cruise operator AIDA’s entire fleet consisting of 10 vessels. The EMMA advisory suite, already installed on six of AIDA’s cruise ships, is a decision-support tool to minimize the overall energy costs for individual vessels and entire fleets. AIDA’s installation of the SEEMP-compliant (ship energy efficiency management plan) EMMA will cover seven top-level categories: propulsion power, propulsion efficiency, vessel trim, hotel and auxiliary power, air condition power per person, specific fuel oil consumption of the main diesel generators and total fuel consumption. By reducing fuel consumption, ABB will also help AIDA to reduce the vessel’s environmental emissions.

Rickmers Implements Energy Management System on Five Ships

One of the first Rickmers vessels to implement ABB’s EMMA Energy Management system is Rickmers Singapore, which operates on Rickmers-Linie’s scheduled Pearl String round-theworld service. She is seen here navigating the Houston Ship Channel.

The Rickmers Group is to implement the ABB EMMA Energy Management system, which is provided by ABB – a worldwide  power and automation technology group. EMMA will help the ship management teams at Rickmers to operate its ships at a maximum level of energy efficiency and to save fuel. Facing changing markets and increasing price pressures, Rickmers expects the system to improve profitability and reduce the overall environmental footprint. “With the implementation of an energy management system aboard our ships…

ABB Providing Energy Management Systems for Rickmers

ABB wins order for energy management systems for five multi-purpose vessels; Energy and fleet management systems will improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions for five Rickmers vessels. ABB, a power and automation technology group, recently won an order from Rickmers Group in Germany to supply advisory systems for dynamic trim optimization and fleet management solutions for five multi-purpose vessels. Trim optimization means ballasting or loading the ship to achieve the floating position that consumes the least propulsion power.
