JERA, EDF Finalise LNG JV

Japan’s LNG importing giant JERA and global wholesale energy markets player EDF Trading have completed the transaction to merge their LNG optimization and trading activities into JERA Global Markets (JERAGM), the new name for JERA Trading.JERAGM is now the exclusive LNG optimiser for JERA and EDF S.A., managing their collective short and medium-term LNG optimisation activities in the wholesale markets. This transaction follows the successful completion of the acquisition of EDFT’s coal business by JERAGM on 4th April, 2017.“This is a great opportunity for EDFT which strengthens our partnership with one of the largest buyers of LNG and coal in the world.

MOL's Coal Carrier OI MARU to Serve JERA Trading

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has announced the delivery of the coal carrier OI MARU, which will serve JERA Trading , was delivered at Imari Shipyard and Works of Namura Shipbuilding on June 14, 2018. The vessel, which was jointly developed by Namura Shipbuilding and MOL, is a state-of-the-art coal carrier with a wide-beam/shallow-draft configuration and wide range of advanced safety and energy-saving features. The vessel is so-called "Hekinan MAX" which has characteristic 250 meters length to maximize transport volume to the discharging port, Chubu Electric Power's Hekinan Thermal Power Plant in Aichi, Japan. Diana Shipping Enters into TC Contract with Uniper

Diana Shipping has announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has entered into a time charter contract with Uniper Global Commodities SE, Düsseldorf, for one of its Post-Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Phaidra. The gross charter rate is US$12,700 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum 12 months to maximum 15 months. The charter commenced on January 13, 2018. The m/v Phaidra was previously chartered to Jera Trading Singapore Pte. Ltd. at a gross charter rate of US$7,750 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for the agreed period of the time charter. The “Phaidra” is a 87,146 dwt Post-Panamax dry bulk vessel built in 2013.

US Coal Exports Bound for Japan's New Power Plants

U.S. miner Cloud Peak Energy said on Tuesday it will export coal from a Montana mine for 30 to 40 months to two new power plants in Japan with shipments that could start late next year. The coal from Montana's Spring Creek Mine will be carried by rail to Vancouver and then sent by ship for delivery to two 540-megawatt coal gasification plants in Fukushima Prefecture, Cloud Peak said. JERA Trading Pte Ltd, a trading company based in Singapore, will buy the coal from Cloud Peak. Sales of the coal are expected to reach 1 million metric tonnes in the final contract year, Cloud Peak said.

New Coal Carrier Enters Service for JERA Singapore

On April 14, newly constructed coal carrier Isuzu Maru was delivered at Oshima Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in Saikai, Japan. The new vessel will be operated by NYK Bulkship (Asia) Pte. Ltd., an NYK group company located in Singapore, for the transport of coal for JERA Trading Singapore Pte. Ltd., a coal trading corporation owned by JERA Co., Inc.
