Maersk Tankers, ShipNet Win SHIPPINGInsight Award

The 2017 SHIPPINGInsight Award was presented to Maersk Tankers and ShipNet at the 6th Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition in Stamford, Conn. The award is presented annually to honor a shipping company and its technology partners for the successful implementation of an innovative technology or initiative that advanced the state of the art in fleet optimization. The award winners each received a binnacled captain’s clock in a polished wooden case as well as framed certificates.

Eagle Bulk and Partners Receive SHIPPINGInsight Award

The 2016 SHIPPINGInsight Award was presented to Eagle Bulk Shipping, and its technology partners Veson Nautical and Accuritas Global Solutions, at the SHIPPINGInsight 2016 Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition in Stamford, Conn. The award is presented annually to honor a shipping company and its technology partners for the successful implementation of an innovative technology or initiative that advanced the state of the art in fleet optimization. The award winners each received a binnacled captain’s clock in a polished wooden case as well as framed certificates. Eagle Bulk Shipping was recognized for a performance profile modeling project that provided an optimal way to determine the speeds and consumptions guaranteed in the company’s time charter parties.

The annual event will take place October 18-19, 2016, at the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa in Stamford, Conn. Capt. The subject of ship telematics will be prominently featured at the upcoming SHIPPINGInsight 2015 Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition, which takes place in Stamford, Conn., Oct. 13-14. Big Data, connected ships and cyber security will be the exclusive focus on Day 2 of the conference with industry leaders from telecommunications and IT suppliers and users sharing their experience and expertise. Bergeron to be Keynote Speaker at SHIPPINGInsight

Big Data: Big Value or Big Risk?

We wish we had a dollar for every time we heard or read the words Big Data at the Nor-Shipping exhibition last month. We might even have collected enough cash to buy a round of expensive Norwegian beers for the gang at the Fridtjof bar. Seriously, Big Data is one of the most talked-about subjects at maritime industry gatherings. At Nor-Shipping there were no fewer than half a dozen panels and conference sessions focusing on the role of Big Data and analytics in commercial shipping.
