Lamprell Delivers Drilling Rig to Dev Drilling

The Lamprell Group delivers its 12th Super 116E jackup drilling unit. Lamprell has announced the completion of construction on the jackup rig Jindal Pioneer and its delivery to Dev Drilling Pte Ltd of Singapore, a D. P. Jindal Group Company. The contract for the Jindal Pioneer rig was signed in January 2013 and this is the second rig with the LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class design which Lamprell has delivered to this client. Keppel FELS Adds US$300 Million in New Contracts

Keppel FELS Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, has secured three contracts worth a combined US$300 million from repeat customers. The contracts are for the construction of a KFELS B Class jackup rig from Star Drilling Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based company promoted by the companies of D.P. Jindal Group; the upgrading of the semisubmersible ENSCO 5006 for Ensco PLC (Ensco); and the upgrading of the semisubmersible Ocean Patriot for Diamond Offshore. Wong Kok Seng, Managing Director (Offshore) of Keppel O&M and Managing Director of Keppel FELS said, "We are glad to be able to continue from 2012 into 2013 by adding more contracts to our orderbook. Even as we add to our new orders, we continue to deliver our projects safely, on time and on budget.

UAE Shipyard Wins Offshore Rig Contract

Lamprell signs contract to build & equip a LeTourneau designed, self-elevating Mobile Offshore Drilling Platform. The mobile platform is to a Super 116E (Enhanced) Class design, for operation in water depths of up to 350 feet and will have a rated drilling depth of 30,000 feet. Lamprell will fabricate the jackup rig in its yard in Hamriyah. The construction phase of this project is expected to take approximately 18 months. This is the second rig that Lamprell will construct for the Singapore-based Jindal Group. As part of the contract, Jindal has an option for Lamprell to build a further jackup rig, exercisable during a period of 6 months from the effective date of the contract.

Garware Offshore Plans Shipbuilding Yard with Norway Firm

Mumbai-based Garware Offshore Services Ltd., a company that offers ships for oil and gas exploration activities, plans to enter the shipbuilding business by setting up an exclusive facility for making offshore support vessels. This shipbuilding yard will be a joint venture with Norway-based ship manufacturer Havyard Leirvik AS, promoted by Havyard Group AS. Havyard Leirvik is a leader in making offshore ships, ice-breaking ships and other types of specialized vessels. According to the Shipyards Association of India, shipbuilding will entail an investment of about $76.1m by 2017. Reportedly, the venture could be 50:50, though nothing has been finalized.

Jindal Shipyards Teams with Korean Co for Maritime Park

Jindal Shipyards, a part of the $8b OP Jindal group, is planning to rope in Korean Maritime Consultants (Komac) for setting up the country’s first maritime technology park, expected to draw investment worth $7.2b. The park, to be called India Maritime Technology Park, will come up near Dahej. It will be on lines of Chinese cluster model and will get SEZ status later on. Keppel Wins $184m Rig Order from India

Keppel FELS Ltd (Keppel FELS) has secured a second order for a KFELS B Class jackup rig valued at $184 million from Jindal Group based in India. The agreement is signed with Jindal Pipes Limited and includes the design, engineering and construction of the rig as well as costs in getting the rig operationally ready. Like the first rig, this new jackup will be built to Keppel’s proprietary design, which has been further customised to meet the owner’s operational needs in water depths of up to 350 feet. It is readily upgraded to 400 feet water-depth when required. It will have a drilling depth capability of 30,000 feet and can accommodate 112 persons. The rig is due for delivery in end 2008.
