GL Group Pass DQS Management System Audit

The first combined DQS Certificate in the fields of quality, environment, occupational health & safety awarded to GL Group. The GL Group has received a combined certificate of compliance with the BS OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards after successfully passing an integrated management system audit conducted by the German certification body DQS. Changes in GL’s Executive Board

Rainer Schöndube, Member of the Executive Board at Germanischer Lloyd AG, will conclude his tenure at the classification society based in Hamburg on 30 September 2007. guests came to his farewell at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hamburg. At the beginning of Schöndube's career, in 1980, Germanischer Lloyd had 535 employees. Today, over 4,100 employees in over 76 countries work for the classification society. During this period Germanischer Lloyd's newbuilding orderbook rose from 1.1 million GT to over 24 million GT. The Fleet in Service which Germanischer Lloyd monitors has grown since 1980 from 16.5 million GT to over 70 million GT. The number of ships under regular supervision has nearly doubled, and currently totals more than 6,300 units.

GL Announces Managment Changes

Rainer Schöndube, Member of the Executive Board at Germanischer Lloyd AG, will resign from office leaving the management on September 300. He will, however, stay affiliated with Germanischer Lloyd as adviser. With his retirement Schöndube, who has been responsible for the commercial field and the Industrial Services at Germanischer Lloyd, gives way for a change in the Executive Board. On September 1, 2007 the Executive Board of Germanischer Lloyd will be extended by Dr Joachim Segatz. Dr Segatz will take over Mr Schöndube's finance division. Dr Segatz studied Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on aircraft construction and fluid mechanics at the Technical University Braunschweig, Germany.
