BHGI has produced more than 50 unique designs to which more than 100 vessels have been built. Specializing in commercial vessel design and consulting, the firm’s experience spans tugs, barges, ATB’s, passenger vessels, dredges and yachts. The BHGI professional team hails from some of the best naval architecture schools in the country. BHGI has been working on a number of projects through its second contract with the U.S.

USCG Seeks Input for Coastal Navigation Study

The U.S. Coast Guard said it is seeking input from commercial and recreational mariners for an assessment of navigation requirements on the Atlantic and Gulf seacoast. The Coast Guard Waterways Analysis and Management System (WAMS) survey is focused on the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico Seacoast System, an open water system typically traveled by mariners arriving from an ocean voyage or transiting along the coast. Individual mariners and interested maritime industry representatives can provide input until May 31, 2016, here. In addition to stakeholder input, the study will also consider environmental concerns, user capabilities, available technology and available resources.

“Green” Inland Midstream Refuel Barge Delivered

John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC is taking delivery of its first “green” inland midstream refueling barge from Tres Palacios Marine in Palacios, Texas. The 160 x 54-ft. double hull barge is the latest addition to the fleet of equipment Stone Oil uses to support its customer base as well as its various terminal operations. Stone Oil discussed ways to improve the existing midstream fuel barge design with its marine personnel as well as its shore based maintenance staff. Laborde Repowers Much of Stone Oil Fleet

In January 2014, Laborde Products sold its first Mitsubishi engine to John W. Stone Oil for the vessel John W. Stone. Since then, Laborde has supplied the Gretna, Louisiana-based oil distributor with seven more Mitsubishis, repowering half of its fleet. The John W. Stone, Olga G. Stone and Moose are now powered by a S12A2-Y2MPTK at 940 hp, while the Jennifer, Shell Fueler, Hiawatha and Custom each have a S6R-Y2MPTK at 630 hp. Stone Power utilizes a S12R-Y3MPTAW at 1,100 hp. BHGI-designed ATB Unit Under Construction

Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) informs it is currently completing the detail design phase of a 399’ x 74’ x 30’ 80,000 BBL double hull oil tank barge and a 120’ x 40’ x 18’- 6” twin screw ocean service tug. Both vessels are currently being built under ABS survey at Conrad Shipyard, L.L.C. in Amelia, La. with a 2015/2016 delivery date. The new ATB Gulf Venture and Gulf Carrier will be operated domestically and internationally by John W. Stone Oil Distributor to support the continually expanding shore bases as well as offshore operations.
