David Roodenburg Takes Over as Huisman CEO

David Roodenburg is the third generation from the Roodenburg family to become CEO of the Netherlands-based equipment manufacturer Huisman.His father, Joop Roodenburg, is currently active as President after he appointed Theo Bruijninckx CEO in April 2018, with the objective to prepare the company for the next generation. Bruijninckx will remain active in Huisman in his role as the company’s CFO.Since 1980, Huisman has been owned and led by the Roodenburg family, growing from 20 employees to 2,000 to date.

Huisman Taps Bruijninckx as CEO

Huisman announced Theo Bruijninckx has been appointed as the company’s new chief executive officer to replace Joop Roodenburg, who decided to step down to the president role. Bruijninckx joined Huisman as chief financial officer and member of the board in May 2017. In his new role as CEO, he is responsible for the daily operation of the company, while Roodenburg will focus on the development of technical solutions and customer relationships. “Since 1981 Huisman is a family owned business. Damen's CEO Receives KIVI Honorary Medal

On December 21, René Berkvens, CEO of Damen Shipyards Group, received the KIVI Honorary Medal for Marine Technology. KIVI (est. 1847) is the professional association of engineers in the Netherlands. The ceremony took place at Delft Technical University during the symposium ‘Maritime Manufacturing - Is there room for innovation in the boardroom?’ Both jury and speakers praised Mr Berkvens' long-standing role as an initiator and promoter of many commercial, organisational and strategic Damen successes as well as his contribution to the Dutch maritime industry. Meijer Appointed CEO of Huisman

Huisman announced that André Meijer is appointed as CEO, effective August 1, 2015. This appointment follows the decision of Joop Roodenburg to step down as the company’s CEO this year to the CTO position. From his new position as CTO, Roodenburg will remain a member of the board and will now be able to fully focus on technical innovation for the company’s various product groups, Huisman said. Furthermore, to continuously develop the company’s link with clients, Roodenburg will also continue to lead the sales and concepts group.

Huisman Opens Production Facility in Brazil

Huisman officially opened its new production facility in Navegantes, Santa Catarina state, in the south of Brazil on Thursday, April 16. The facility is used for the manufacturing of offshore equipment for the Brazilian market. It is located along the Itajai-Açu river, enabling fast installation of Huisman equipment onboard sea going vessels. Huisman Begins Construction on New Quayside

On Thursday, June 16, 2011, Huisman’s CEO Joop Roodenburg gave the official start signal for the construction of Huisman China’s new quayside. With the new quayside in place, the Huisman China facility will be easily accessible for seagoing vessels, allowing for fast installation, commissioning and testing of the Huisman designed and built offshore construction equipment onboard. Besides the installation of Huisman products, the new quay and 2,400mt Travelling Crane will also serve commercial purposes for companies throughout China.
