Seafast Marine Names New RSV

Seafast Marine has named its renewables service vessel (RSV) Isle of Jura at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in The Netherlands.Isle of Jura is a newbuild vessel, constructed at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld, and is the second vessel built to a new Damen Renewables Service Vessel design.The RSV, according to Seafast Marine, is for use in the offshore and onshore wind industries. As a business based in Ross-shire in Scotland, Seafast Marine was happy to see it painted in the colors of the country’s Saint Andrew's flag.The Damen RSV 3315, evolved from the Multi Cat, is a powerful multi-purpose working vessel, designed to work in shallow as well as deeper waters. It features four azimuth thrusters, a DP2 4-point mooring system, two large cranes, hydraulic shark jaws and an AHT winch.

First Diesel-Electric Damen Shoalbuster Ordered

On January 25, 2019 the contract was signed between Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld (DSHa) and longstanding client Herman Sr. for the building of the first diesel-electric Damen Shoalbuster 3514 SD DP2. The new vessel is scheduled for delivery by the first half of 2020 and will be named Brutus. Tug Newbuild Delivered to De Boer

On January 9, Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld delivered an ASD Tug 2310 SD (shallow draught), named Papillon, to De Boer Remorquage SARL, a subsidiary company of Dutch Dredging (Baggerbedrijf De Boer) and Iskes Towage & Salvage. Damen has customized the ASD for a 12-year contract with Grand Port Maritime de Guyane in the ports of Cayenne and Kourou in French Guiana. The tug’s primary function will be the assistance of vessels entering and leaving the ports. She can also provide emergency assistance, such as fire-fighting, survey activities and small transports.

ISA Towage Names New Damen Workboat

ISA Towage BV’s new workboat ISA was officially named at a November 17 ceremony at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld (DSHa). ISA's godmother was Miranda Mastenbroek, wife of Willem-Harm Mastenbroek, owner and managing director of ISA Towage B.V. The new vessel, a Damen Shoalbuster 3209, is the second purchased by ISA Towage B.V. A smaller vessel, a Shoalbuster 2709 also called ISA, was delivered at the close of 2016, and has now been replaced by the 3209. The decision to make the upgrade is the result of an offer made to Willem-Harm Mastenbroek by Jos van Woerkum, managing director of DSHa.

Damen Delivers Stock Workboat to ISA Towage

De Boer Remorquage SARL Orders Custom Tugs from Damen

Baggerbedrijf De Boer B.V. (Dutch Dredging B.V.) has ordered two custom, special-purpose tugs to be built at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in the Netherlands through the subsidiairy De Boer Remorquage SARL. The tugs are for a 10-year contract with Grand Port Maritime de Guyane in the ports of Cayenne and Kourou in French Guyana. Their primary functions will be assisting vessels entering and leaving port, and rendering help in the event of emergencies including fire-fighting. An important secondary role for both vessels will be assisting with maintenance dredging operations in both ports.

Van Wijngaarden Orders Second Damen Shoalbuster

The contract has been signed between Van Wijngaarden Marine Services and Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld for the build and delivery of a Damen Shoalbuster 3512, to be named the LINGESTROOM. This will bring the total number of Shoalbusters in the Van Wijngaarden fleet to five including the NOORDSTROOM, also a Shoalbuster 3512, which was delivered in April 2016. Damen Sells Shoalbuster to V.O.F. Sleepboot

On August 29 a contract was signed by Jos van Woerkum, Managing Director of Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld, and Willem-Harm Mastenbroek, owner and managing director of V.O.F. Sleepboot ISA, for the delivery of a new Damen Shoalbuster 2709. Based in Wijk bij Duurstede in the Netherlands, the company has undertaken projects across north west Europe and as far east as the Caspian Sea. The new Shoalbuster is replacing a 30-meter, multipurpose, anchor handling tug and will be available for work all over the world.

IRSHAD Acquires Damen Shoalbuster 2308

Abu Dhabi Petroleum Ports Operating Company (IRSHAD), a part of the ADNOC Group of Companies, has taken delivery of a Damen Shoalbuster 2308, named Al Marfa 1. During a ceremony at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld, the Netherlands, the company received the new vessel 3 weeks ahead of schedule. The delivery was attended by Zeid Zakaria, Senior Vice President, IRSHAD, Khalfan Ali Al Ali, Ship Building Projects Manager, IRSHAD, Pascal Slingerland, Damen Sales Manager Middle East, Jos van Woerkum, Director Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld and Peter Baars, Product Director Damen Shipyards IRSHAD will put the vessel to use maintaining single point buoy moorings. The close contact she will have with the buoys has necessitated Damen outfitting the vessel with a range of explosion-proof equipment.

First Damen Multi Cat 3013 Delivered to MCS

Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd has taken delivery of its first Damen Multi Cat 3013. Based in Fairlie, Ayrshire, the Scottish company is one of the largest operators of Damen vessels in the world, with 14 in its fleet. This order also represents an important milestone for Damen as it is the first vessel to be built at Damen Shipyards Sharjah, which opened in 2014. Managing Director of Maritime Craft Services, Menno Kuyt, comments: “This latest vessel fills a gap in our fleet, we were looking for a larger vessel, particularly with more crane capacity for dredging support work and Damen can make this happen very quickly!” MCS ordered the Damen Multi Cat 3013, now named MCS ELLY II on April 28 and it was delivered on May 27, less than a month later.

Damen Delivers Shoalbuster to MCS in 8 Days

Maritime Craft Services (MCS) recently took delivery of a new Damen Shoalbuster 2609. Damen has delivered numerous Crew Transfer Vessels, Multicats, and Shoalbusters to MCS – the two companies have a long-standing relationship. What is notable about this latest delivery, however, is the incredibly short timeframe involved. MCS owner Dirk Kuijt and Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld managing director Jos van Woerkum signed the contract on March 12, and just eight days later, MCS took delivery.

Damen Supplies Hybrid Patrol Vessel to Waternet

Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld-Giessendam recently delivered the Damen Patrol Vessel 1304 Hybrid, designed and constructed for Waternet (the Water Network Foundation). The most striking features of this hybrid patrol vessel are that it is clean, quiet, and can sail under Amsterdam’s bridges along the through routes. The “Waterspreeuw” – meaning “Dipper” in English – was ceremonially named by the Amsterdam Executive Councillor CarolienGehrels on June 17, 2013. Waternet is an innovative water organization that takes the entire water cycle as its basis.
