A new crabber vessel has been delivered to JSC Arcticservice and departed Tersan Shipyard in Turkey for its journey up to Kirkenes in Norway.The newbuild M/V Zenith will be used for catching, processing and freezing king crab and snow crab in the Barents Sea. Danish manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems has developed a customized solution for a 50 MW intertidal project in Bạc Liêu Province, Vietnam for the local EPC construction company Bac Phuong JSC, using onshore wind technologies to harvest wind resources from the sea.The intertidal project site is covered in water at high tide and some of the turbines will be uncovered at low tide, said a press note from the sustainable energy solutions provider.Working closely with the customer to overcome the complex operation of planning and executing an intertidal project, Vestas will supervise the installation of the turbines in shallow waters close…

Pella Sietas, a shipbuilding company in Neuenfelde, Hamburg, has secured a EUR100 million ($111Mln) order from Russian authorities for a new icebreaker described as the biggest ever built in Germany.The new icebreaker, "Eisbrecher7", with a length of 120m, a width of 27.5m and a draught of 8.5m, is the largest single order in Pella Sieta's company history. The icebreaker is part of the Russian fleet modernization program which, as a special vessel, not only keeps sea routes clear but also provides pilot service for large ships in ice, towing ships and other floating structures. It also offers the possibility of fire fighting, sea rescue and deck cargo transport.

Damen Marine Components (DMC) signed its first order with a Turkish Shipyard. The client is TERSAN Tersanecilik San. Tic. Aṣ., based at Yalova City on the Sea of Marmara, and the equipment will be installed on a 108-meter Factory Freezer Trawler vessel. Designed by Skipsteknisk AS, design number STL191L, it is currently in build for the Russian fishing fleet operator JSC PT Okeanrybflot.The order is for a single, customised Barke rudder with a surface area of 16 m² and a Commander rotary vane steering gear that delivers a torque of up to 430 kNm.

Russia's JSC United Transport and Logistics Company (UTLC) jointly with KTZ-Express launched a new transport product for the delivery of non-hazardous chemical goods in tank containers from China to Europe as part of the regular container service U West (Dostyk-Brest). The first train, consisting of 82 twenty-foot tank containers, loaded with butylene glycol produced by XINJIANG MARKOR CHEMICAL INDUSTRY, departed from Korla Station (China). The cargo transited through the territories of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus and further through Poland through the territories of the EU countries to the terminal at the station Duisburg (Germany). UTLC provided a service on a track of 1520 mm at the section Dostyk - Brest.

Global Ports Investments PLC announced that First Container Terminal Inc., one of the Group’s sea terminals, has signed an agreement to sell its 100% shares in JSC Logistika-Terminal (LT), one of the Group’s two inland terminals, to PJSC TransContainer for a consideration of 1.9 billion Russian rubles to be paid upon completion of the transaction. The transaction will allow the Group to optimize its inland terminal network focusing on the Yanino terminal, a modern multipurpose inland terminal in the vicinity of St. Petersburg. The Group intends to use the proceeds of the sale for further deleveraging, a key strategic priority. The transaction is subject to approval of relevant regulatory authorities. The JSC Latvian Shipping Company subsidiary LSC Shipmanagement (LSCSM) supplemented the fleet under its full technical management with a newbuilding “Elandra Falcon”, which is the 25th tanker managed by LSCSM. The new tanker is intended for transportation of oil products. Her total length is 268.25 meters and deadweight – 157’000  tons. “We are delighted that LSCSM is able to expand the fleet under its technical management, which is a sign of quality that attests to the professionalism and skills of our crews and ship management team. On June 2, 2017, MTG-Dolphin Shipyard delivered to Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) JSC the tug Alcor, the first of three vessels in series built to the RAmparts 2700 design by Robert Allan Ltd. The tug adds to the fleet of four tugboats in the Navibulgar fleet and is the first tugboat built by the Bulgarian shipyard MTG Dolphin PLC-Varna for the Bulgarian ship owner, who owns more than 30 bulk carriers. The naming ceremony took place on June 2 at Port of Varna and was attended by the Deputy Governor of Varna. The vessel is named after the star Alcor from the Big Dipper constellation.

In connection with the increased cargo transportation by accelerated container trains en route China/ Europe/ China, UTLC JSC jointly with Belintertrans-Germany LLC, with assistance of the Belorussian Railways Baranovichi Division, is introducing an additional container train route via Kuznitsa/ Bruzgi border crossing. On July 31, 2017, the first container train departed from the Lodz  to Chengdu Station in this route. The container train has 41 40” containers with assembled cargo. The train passed freely to Bruzgi station where transshipment into broad-track railcars was carried out promptly and without any delays. The estimated time en route from the departure station to the destination station will be 14 days, as before.

Offshore support vessel company Topaz Energy and Marine has been appointed the technical managers of three vessels by a consortium comprising Blue Water Shipping A/S and Kazmortransflot (KMTF), in connection with the TCO developed Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. Under the terms of the agreement, Topaz will act as the technical managers for three newly designed Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs). The vessels will commence work in Q2 2018 for a minimum contract period of a little over two years. The vessels will be transporting oil and gas modules to the Tengiz oil field from transshipment bases in Kazakhstan. The Tengiz oilfield is operated by Tengizchevroil LLP; a Kazakh partnership that explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, LPG, dry gas and sulfur.

JSC Admiralty Shipyards has finished building a series of six submarines for the Russian Navy’s Black Sea fleet, marked with a flag lifting ceremony on the large diesel-electric submarine Kolpino, which was transferred to the Russian Navy. The ceremony was attended by Chief of the Navy, Vladimir Korolev; president of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation, Alexei Rakhmanov; and CEO of JSC Admiralty Shipyards, Alexander Buzakov. “It is difficult to overestimate the significance of today's event for our team,” said Buzakov.
