Asyaport Selects Kalmar Zero Emission RTG

Kalmar, the provider of cargo-handling solutions and services to ports, said that it has been awarded a contract to supply Asyaport Liman A.S. (Asyaport) with a total of six Kalmar Zero Emission rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes.According to the Cargotec group company, the order, which also includes Kalmar SmartPort solutions that are part of the recently launched Kalmar One automation system, was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q4 order intake, with delivery scheduled for Q4 of 2020.Asyaport is a joint venture between the Turkish Soyuer family and Global Terminal Limited, which secure berths and terminal capacity in the major ports used by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).Asyaport is Turkey’s first transshipment container terminal and has an annual capacity of up to 2.5 million TEU.

Norfolk Southern Invests in Automation

American transportation company Norfolk Southern has signed a deal with Kalmar, part of Cargotec, for supply of four Kalmar SmartPower rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) equipped with a suite of process automation solutions.According to a press release, the order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 Q4 order intake with delivery scheduled to be completed by the end of Q4 2019. Norfolk Southern Railway subsidiary operates approximately 19,500 route miles in 23 states, serves every major container ports in the eastern United States and provides efficient connections to other rail carriers. In addition to containers, the company is also a major transporter of coal, automotive products and industrial goods.

Kalmar to Send Five RTG Cranes to DCT Gdansk Terminal

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has signed a deal with Deepwater Container Terminal (DCT) Gdansk to supply a total of five electrically powered rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) with extensive customisation. The order, which also includes the supply of a spare parts package for the machines, was booked in Cargotec's 2018 first quarter order intake and delivery is scheduled to take place in early 2019. DCT Gdansk is Poland's largest and fastest growing container facility, and the only deep-water terminal in the Baltic Sea region with direct ocean vessel calls from the Far East. The terminal has an annual throughput capacity of 3 million TEUs and its operating area covers 74 hectares.

Kalmar Cranes with SmartPort Automation for Oran port

Kalmar has won an order for seven rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes following a call for tender launched by the Algerian port procurement company Groupement D'Interêt Commun Des Entreprises Portuaires (GICEP). The value of the order is approximately EUR 10 million. The order has been booked into Cargotec's 2016 fourth quarter order intake and the equipment will be delivered to the customer during the third quarter of 2017. The Port of Oran Container Terminal ("Port of Oran") is currently embarking on an ambitious expansion project and the Kalmar E-One2 RTGs will provide the terminal with reliable performance, reduced fuel consumption, and an industry-leading maintenance interval of 1,000 hours.

Puerto Caacupe-mi Successfully Deploys N4 TOS

Paraguay's Puerto Caacupe-mi successfully went live with the N4 Terminal Operating System (TOS), the operating system's developer, Navis, announced today in a press release. “The implementation process went smoothly because of the combined efforts of the Caacupe-mi and Navis teams,” said Fernando Leri Frizza, President of Puerto Caacupe-mi. “We had a team of approximately 16 people who were dedicated to this transformation for the last four months and we are immensely thankful to all of them for making this massive undertaking a resounding success.

Kalmar SmartStack goes live

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has implemented the Kalmar SmartStack solution at Durban Container Terminal (DCT) in South Africa for real-time container inventory reporting and management. This is the first terminal to implement Kalmar SmartStack using the narrowband communication network involving re-engineering from the standard WiFi deployment. DCT is currently running 11 Kalmar straddle carriers with SmartStack and further eight are to be phased in over the coming weeks. In addition, 11 Terex straddle carriers will be phased into the SmartStack solution and are currently undergoing equipment testing trials by the customer. The final machines to integrate with the solution in this project are two Kalmar empty container handlers.

Kalmar SmartLane Automated Gate System for Liverpool Port

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, will deliver Kalmar SmartLane automated gate system to Port of Liverpool, operated by Peel Ports Group. The new system will reduce waiting times and administration for hauliers, resulting in faster turnaround. The implementation is scheduled to be completed by early 2015. Investment in Kalmar SmartLane automated gate system is part of Peelport's £5.5m package of improvements to port infrastructure. With the £300m deep-water Liverpool2 expansion due to be open next year, this latest development is set to strengthen the port-side logistics required to support increased cargo volume. Navis N4, Kalmar SmartPort Chosen for Paraguayan Ports

Kalmar and Navis, both part of Cargotec, revealed at 'Intermodal South America' that Puerto Caacupe-mi in Paraguay has chosen Navis’ N4 terminal operating system (TOS) and Kalmar’s SmartPort process automation solutions for its Asuncion and Pilar facilities. Cargotec explain that Puerto Caacupe-mi selected N4 due to the TOS’ flexibility to adapt to individual customer needs, and at the same time, achieve greater agility, efficiency and control in handling large cargo volumes.

Port of LA's TracPac RMG Cranes to be Integrated by Kalmar

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded a contract for the integration of the controls for the new rail mounted gantry (RMG) cranes at the intermodal yard of TraPac Inc's terminal at the Port of Los Angeles. Kalmar explain that the RMGs will be supplied to TraPac by PACECO with the Kalmar Terminal Logistic System (TLS) ensuring they are integrated in the automated operations. TLS is part of the Kalmar SmartPort equipment automation portfolio. The intermodal yard is a substantial part of the terminal, with 30 percent of the TEUs shipped inland by rail.

Kalmar SmartPort Equipment Ordered for New Argentine Terminal

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded the contract for the supply of multiple Kalmar SmartPort solution products to TecPlata S.A, a fully-owned ICTSI company. The greenfield terminal located in Port La Plata, Argentina, will feature in the first phase Kalmar SmartLift and SmartStack on its 18 Kalmar terminal tractors, nine ZPMC RTGs, two Kalmar reachstackers and three Kalmar front-end loaders. Cargotec's Kalmar SmartPort Automation is Key

Global Container Terminals in New Jersey plans to implement Cargotec's Kalmar SmartQuay solution for six quay cranes as part of an ongoing automation project. The SmartQuay solution improves productivity during vessel operations and is delivered in partnership with APS Technology Group, part of the Kalmar SmartPort Alliance. The system automates data capture for all container movements, automatically builds ship plans and provides tools for managing traffic at the quay. The crane solution utilizes optical character recognition (OCR) technology to automate data capture for all container movements.
