Bahrain's First LNG Terminal Ready for Business

Bahrain expected to start LNG imports early this year; FSU on 20-year time charter to Bahrain LNG arrives in the GulfBahrain's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating unit arrived in the Gulf this week as the country gets ready for its maiden imports of the super-chilled fuel this year, data from Refinitiv Eikon showed.Bahrain Spirit, a floating storage unit (FSU) with a capacity of about 173,000 cubic meters, is currently anchored in Fujairah after docking in the United Arab Emirates region on Jan. 13, the data showed.The FSU is on a 20-year charter to Bahrain LNG, who is the developer of a wider receiving and regasification terminal within the Khalifa bin Salman Port facility…

APM Terminals Bahrain IPO Aims to Raise USD 30 mln

Port operator APM Terminals Bahrain plans to raise around BHD12m ($32m) through its planned initial public offering (IPO). This is the first IPO for a transport and logistics company in the Kingdom to list on the Bahrain Bourse. The listing forms part of the contractual agreement made when the port opened in 2009.APM Terminals Bahrain will offer 18 million shares, equivalent to 20 per cent of its issued share capital, at BHD0.66 per share. The net proceeds will be paid to its current shareholders pro-rata based on their shareholding. APM Terminals currently holds 80% of the shares and the remaining 20% of shares are held by YBA Kanoo Holdings of Bahrain…

APM Terminals Bahrain Opens New Online Platform

APM Terminals Bahrain has launched the 'Lift' portal which allows customers to track and trace their goods, check the status of shipments and vessels and schedule deliveries - 24 hours per day, seven days a week.Lift works to optimize operations by allowing customers real-time visibility into the status of the cargo in a container facility, enabling them to manage all aspects of the terminal process and improving their business at the same time. The new system is seen as being a major step in the digitization of logistical services.Using a user-friendly interface, Lift connects users to the terminal and allows them to access up-to-date data from any device.

US to Commission USS Lewis B. Puller

The Navy will commission the Expeditionary Sea Base USS Lewis B. Puller (ESB 3) during a 5 p.m. AST ceremony Thursday, August 17, at Khalifa bin Salman Port in Al Hidd, Bahrain. The future Lewis B. Puller - currently USNS Lewis B. Puller (T-ESB 3 )- is the second ship to bear the name of Lt. Gen. Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller, a distinguished combat veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Puller is the only Marine to have been awarded the Navy Cross on five separate occasions and is the most decorated individual in the history of the USMC. The first Lewis B. Bahrain Set to Award $400mln Floating LNG Contract

The Bahrain National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) will award a $400 million Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal contract next month, Energy Minister Abdulhussain Mirza told local media this week. The LNG terminal will be constructed near Khalifa Bin Salman Port, on Bahrain’s northeast shore. Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza said it would be operational by early 2018 and would receive deliveries of LNG by ships. Dr Mirza confirmed that his company is going to award the contract for constructing a floating terminal in the sea to receive LNG next month, according to a report in Gulf Daily News. The $400m dollar (LNG) project is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2018.

Neelsen to Succeed Ahlers as Buss Port Logistics CEO

Press release - On October 1, Marco Neelsen will assume Heinrich Ahlers' position as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Buss Port Logistics (BPL). Ahlers will stay with Buss Group until at least the end of 2016. Neelsen is a trained navigational officer. In his  career up to now Neelsen took on operational management positions within the AP Möller Terminals Group in places like Oman, Nigeria and Aqaba, Jordan. Most recently and since 2012, he was the CEO of the Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Bahrain.

Two New Tugboats for APM Terminals Bahrain

APM Terminals Bahrain, the operator of Khalifa Bin Salman Port, welcome the arrival of two new tugboats to the APM Terminal Bahrain marine fleet. The new tugs were inaugurated at a ceremony on Wednesday, with attendees from the Port and Maritime Affairs, BAPCO, the U.S. Navy and many other Bahraini companies. The Damen Stan 1606 tugboats will provide additional flexibility to meet the growing requirements of the Bahrain shipping community at Khalifa bin Salman Port (KBSP). The two new tugboats, Svitzer Dilmun and Svitzer Tylos, are compact, robust and highly maneuverable.

Bahrain May Cut Cruise Ship Fees

Authorities may also reduce other charges to ensure the upcoming cruise season goes ahead in October as ships are due to dock at Khalifa bin Salman Port, sources told the 'Gulf Daily News'. Earlier, other sources said Bahrain's tourism authorities were hoping to have a full cruise season given the last one was scrapped half way through because of last year's unrest. Representatives of stakeholders met Culture Ministry officials following revelations that the season could be in jeopardy after insurance companies said they would charge at least $15,000 (BD5,675) extra for every vessel that berths in the country. This would mean each cruise operator could pay as much as $300,000 (BD113,129) extra per season.
