Largest UASC Ship Calls at Khorfakkan Terminal

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), a leading container shipping line and emerging global carrier, and Gulftainer, the world’s largest privately-owned, independent port operator based in the UAE, marked the maiden call of UASC’s 15,000 TEU M.V. Linah into Khorfakkan Container Terminal (KCT), at an event today. The M.V. Linah is the largest UASC vessel to call at Khorfakkan Port to date, and is one of the ships built as part of UASC’s advanced newbuilding program; worth over USD2.3 billion and comprising 17 ships to be delivered between November 2014 and 2016, of which 11 are 15,000 TEU vessels and six are 18,800 TEU vessels. MS Europa 2 in Sharjah

International cruise liner MS Europa 2 reached the Khorfakkan Port with more than 500 tourists on board. The luxury liner is the latest making a cruise call at the emirate's east coast ports, which continue to bring in cruise tourists from around the globe. MS Europa 2, managed by German company Hapag-Lloyd, is the winner of the coveted distinction of 5-stars-plus by the Berlitz Cruise Guide 2016. Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) organised traditional folk performances to welcome the cruise tourists on board MS Europa 2, and introduced them to Sharjah's rich cultural and tourism offerings. The tourists were later taken on a tour around the city of Khorfakkan. Sharjah aims to attract more than 28 cruise trips with 72,000 tourists during current season.

Khorfakkan Container Terminal (KCT) became the first terminal operator in the Middle East to handle the world’s largest container ship, 'CMA CGM Marco Polo'. With a length of four standard football pitches (396 metres), 54 metres beam and requiring a draft of 16m, Khorfakkan is one of the few ports in the world able to accommodate Marco Polo’s massive 16,020 TEU capacity, reports 'The Gulf Today'. CMA CGM Reshuffles Some Routes

CMA CGM announces the reshuffling of its Asia-West Med Services. CMA CGM announces the reshuffling of its services on the Asia-West Mediterranean trade in partnership with Maersk Line (ML). Rotation: Qingdao > Pusan > Shanghai > Ningbo > Yantian > Chiwan > Nansha > Tanjung Pelepas > Port Kelang > Malta > Valencia > Barcelona > Fos > Genoa > Malta > Port Said > Khorfakkan > Port Kelang > Singapore > Qingdao. Rotation: Xiamen > Shanghai > Ningbo > Yantian  > Nansha > Tanjung Pelepas > Port Kelang > Beirut > Malta > Valencia > Malaga > Tangiers > Port Said > Port Kelang > Singapore. These two new services will replace the MEX service currently operated by CMA CGM as well as the MEX2 (AE11) and the AE20 services operated by Maersk Line on the Asia-West Med Trade.

CMA CGM Takes Two New Vessels

The CMA CGM Group announced the delivery of the CMA CGM LAMARTINE (6,500 TEU) and CMA CGM CALLISTO (11,400 TEU) in . Built by Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Co shipyards, the CMA CGM LAMARTINE (6 500 TEU) is deployed on the Asia-Mediterranean market on the MEX (Mediterranean Express) service. The vessel started its rotation today in Yokohama. Itsrotation will be as follows: , , , Kwanyang, , , , Chiwan, Hong Kong, Port Kelang, , , , , Fos, , , , , Khorfakkan, Port Kelang, Chiwan, . The CMA CGM Group also took delivery today in of CMA CGM CALLISTO (11,400 TEU). Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyards, the vessel is the third of a series of 12 vessels of 11,400 TEU ordered by the CMA CGM Group. They will be delivered between 2010 and 2011.
