Kamsarmax Rotor Sails Install Expected to Deliver 10% Fuel Savings

The installation of rotor sails on board a 82,000 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carrier is expected to generate a 10% reduction in fuel burn and emissions.The TR Lady was retrofitted with three 5×24m rotor sails from Anemoi Marine Technologies at China's Chengxi Shipyard in June 2023. Liberian Registry Grants AiP for Anemoi's Rotor Sail

The Liberian Registry has awarded an Approval in Principle (AIP) to Anemoi Marine Technologies for their Rotor Sail systems.Anemoi’s Rotor Sails are available with three deployment options - fixed to the deck, a folding type, and on rails that can be moved along or across the deck.According to a press statement released Tuesday, the folding and rail systems were validated on a Newcastlemax bulk carrier design from SDARI and issued an AIP by Lloyd’s Register.The Liberian Registry conducted a technical review of the documentation…

Bawat Gains USCG’s AMS Acceptance

The ballast water management system developed by Danish company Bawat A/S has been granted U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Alternate Management System (AMS) acceptance for an interim period of up to five years, enabling commercial vessels equipped with the system to be approved to discharge treated ballast water in U.S. coastal waters. In-Tank BWTS Under Development by Bawat

The Danish company Bawat A / S has developed an in- tank system to treat ballast water on ships where the treatment is conducted while the ship is under way, unlike the existing in-line systems where processing is carried out when the ship is in port. " We decided to develop a system that is competitive on all parameters – especially on price – which has now been achieved . The current operation is easy , and there is almost no maintenance," says Kim Diederichsen, director of Bawat A / S. There are no filters, UV radiation or chemicals in the operation. Ultra-Deepwater Program Funding for Remora

The Statement of Work (SOW) covers a 1 year study involving US operators and execution of Industry related work shops addressing various HiLoad DP offloading scenarios in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM). "Remora is pleased to learn that RPSEA and the US Department of Energy (DOE) have acknowledged the HiLoad DP solution and that our technology has been successfully selected under the Ultra-Deepwater Program.
