Hempel Appoints Boyer-Søgaard as CFO

Hempel A/S announces that Anders Boyer-Søgaard, CFO and member of Executive Management of GN Store Nord A/S, will succeed CFO Kim Junge Andersen who will join Rockwool as CFO as per January 1, 2016. In 2007, Anders Boyer-Søgaard joined GN Store Nord where he is the CFO and member of the Executive Board. GN Store Nord is listed on Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen and is part of the OMX C20 index. GN Store Nord had 5,000 employees and revenue of more than DKK 7bn in 2014 in the two businesses GN ReSound and GN Netcom. Anders started his career with A.P. Moller in 1990 and worked in financial management roles in Copenhagen and Singapore. He joined Aston Business Solutions as CFO in 2000…

Hempel Opens its First Factory in Africa

Hempel has opened its first factory in Africa, its 26th worldwide, to manufacture coatings for the marine as well as decorative and protective industries to serve customers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Further boosting its growth plans, Hempel acquired its South African toll manufacturer, The Coatings Manufacturing Company (TCMC). Since 2011, Hempel South Africa has partnered with TCMC, which is located close to Johannesburg, to better serve customers in the region; the partnership covered the HEMPATEX and HEMPALIN range of products.

New techniques for foundation installation reduce cost of offshore wind farm

As part of a development project related to the future offshore wind farm ”Parc éolien en mer de Fécamp” in France, MT Højgaard is to install a deep water concrete foundation employing new techniques that will reduce cost of offshore wind farm. The newly developed prototype foundation is based on proven technologies known from the oil and gas, tunnel and bridge industry and in combination with the installation method. The foundation is to be towed about 25 kilometres into the Channel from Le Havre, and then placed in  the exact position where the depth of the sea is 35 metres.The installation of the prototype foundation will take place at the end of 2014.

Jumbo Offshore Wins Offshore Wind Contract

MT Højgaard has awarded Jumbo Offshore the transport and installation contract for all of the 111 Transition Pieces (TP’s) for the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm (Denmark). The 400 MW wind farm is currently being developed by DONG Energy. The Anholt Wind Farm is located in the ‘Kattegat’, near Anholt Island, and will be the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark. One of Jumbo’s DP2 Offshore Heavy Lift Vessels will install the TP’s on pre-installed monopiles, starting April 2012. Anholt is a result of Danish government policy, which aims for a society independent of fossil fuels.

Leading industrial and marine coatings supplier Hempel is building a strong presence in the Indian subcontinent Hempel, one of the world’s leading industrial and marine paint suppliers, is expanding its operations in the Indian subcontinent. With the opening of a new manufacturing unit in Nashik, Maharashtra, Hempel is strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and presence in the Indian subcontinent. The company also plans to invest approximately EUR 15-20 million in a greenfield project over a period of three years. Expansion in the Indian market is an important element within Hempel’s business strategy, One Hempel – One Ambition.
