J. Lauritzen Orders Two Methanol Dual-fuel Bulk Carriers

Danish shipping company J. Lauritzen said it signed letter of intent for construction of minimum two methanol dual-fuel 81,200 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carriers, which will be built by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, Japan, and be capable of trading with zero carbon emissions when powered by green methanol, and biodiesel.The vessels will be among the very first zero emission capable bulk carriers in the world, and they will be fully owned by a newly established entity named “Lauritzen NexGen Shipping” which J.

Norborg Steps in as Clipper Group CEO

Clipper Group has appointed Peter Norborg new Group CEO, succeeding current chief Frank G. Jensen, who will continue with the company as Chairman of the Board. Norborg will commence work in Clipper on April 1, 2016. Norborg, 49, comes from a position as Chief Operating Officer at Switzerland-based open hatch/dry bulk company Gearbulk, a position he has held since 2012. Before that, he spent 14 years at D/S Norden, latest as Executive Vice President and Head of Dry Cargo division. Peter holds an EMBA from IMD Business School.

Per Gullestrup is to retire from the Copenhagen-based diverse fleet shipowners, effective September 2013 but will remain a partner in Clipper Group. Frank G. Jensen

Effective September 1st, Clipper’s ro-ro activities will be headed by Group CEO Kristian Morch, and effective early 2014, Kristian Morch will also replace Per Gullestrup on the Board of Danske Færger.

Clipper Vessels Certified by Lloyd’s Register

Danish shipping company joins vanguard of ship operators using the 50001 energy management standard. On Friday in Copenhagen, Lloyd’s Register presented Clipper Fleet Management with ISO 50001 certification issued by LRQA, Lloyd’s Register’s provider of independent business assurance. “To us, the ISO 50001 certification is a valuable recognition and documentation that we’re doing the right things within fuel efficiency and energy management,” says Kristian Morch, Group CEO, Clipper Group.

Clipper Projects Heads Up New MPP Ship Pool

Denmark-based Clipper Projects sets up multi-purpose (MPP) pool, which will form an integrated part of the current Clipper Projects MPP fleet. The new pool will initially comprise 14 x 15-20,000 dwt MPP vessels, but it is the clear intention of the members to expand the pool with more members and tonnage ranging from 10-20,000 dwt.
