Scana Offshore Wins Offshore Wind Contract

Kvaerner ASA awarded Scana Offshore AS a contract for the supply of mooring equipment to Hywind Tampen, Equinor's new floating wind farm. The contract is Scana Offshore's first hardware contract in the floating wind power market.The delivery from Scana Offshore will consist of 33 hull brackets, which are used to attach anchoring lines to the hulls on the 11 offshore wind turbines that make up the Hywind Tampen wind farm. The company will also provide ROV tools for possible replacement of the anchor lines.“We have a long track record of deliveries to the oil, gas and aquaculture market.

Kværner ASA in Board Changes

Trine Sæther Romuld has informed Kværner ASA that she resigns from her position as non-executive Director and Chair of the Board's Audit Committee of the Company with immediate effect. This is due to change in employment to a position without opportunity to hold directorships. According to Kværner ASA's Articles of Associations, the Board of Directors shall consist of six to ten members. Following the resignation of Ms Romuld, the Nomination Committee has decided not to propose replacing Trine Sæther Romuld before the next General Meeting, thus the Board of Directors of Kværner ASA now consists of eight Directors, whereof three employee-elected Directors.

Svanevik Elected to Seadrill Board

Seadrill Limited announced today that Carl Erik Steen has resigned from the board of directors with immediate effect. Filling the position is Ørjan Svanevik, who was appointed by the board of directors to fill the vacant position starting immediately. Svanevik is an employee of the Seatankers Group and was previously managing director for the investment advisory firm, Oavik Capital. Prior to Oavik, he was head of M&A and a partner at Aker ASA, and COO and EVP of Kværner ASA. Svanevik also worked nearly a decade in corporate advisory and investment banking. He started his career at Schlumberger, where he held various international financial management positions. Svanevik has an AMP from Harvard Business School and a MBA from Thunderbird.

Kvaerner & KBR Ally on Offshore Rig Topside Bids

Kvaerner ASA says it is to establish a joint venture with KBR Inc. to bid competitively on offshore platform topsides contracts for the Johan Sverdrup field development offshore Norway. The alliance combines Kvaerner's expertise and resources as a turn-key contractor for offshore platforms with KBR's competence as a leading international offshore oil and gas contractor. The Johan Sverdrup field is one of Norway's largest offshore oil and gas fields, and it is expected that the first development phase will include four offshore platforms for a new field center. "KBR sees Kvaerner as one of this industry's most experienced EPC contractor, particularly for demanding projects in Norway, including the Johan Sverdrup field," said Stuart Bradie, KBR President and Chief Executive Officer.

Kværner Yard to Upgrade H-6e Offshore Drill Rig

Norway's Kværner ASA informs that the  H-6e drilling rig 'Transocean Barents' will arrive Kvaerner's facilities at Stord this week for a two month yard stay. The main purpose of the stay is the five year classification of the rig, as well as upgrade and modification work. When the rig arrives, it will first spend a couple of days in the fjord outside Kvaerner's Stord facility. Once quayside, the campaign is expected to last for approximately two months. After the inshore work, there will be a short period of sea trials in Klosterfjorden. The Transocean Barents is an Aker H-6e sixth generation dual activity dynamically-positioned semi-submersible drilling rig designed to operate in harsh environments and water depths up to 10 000 feet.

Kværner Deliver Strong Q1 2014 Results

Leading contractor for deliveries of complete upstream oil & gas offshore platforms and onshore plants, Norway's Kværner ASA, reports  operating revenues for the first quarter of 2014 wer NOK 3,489-million which is an increase of 31 percent compared to NOK 2 663 million in first quarter in 2013. The high activity and good utilisation of resources continued in first quarter 2014. The order intake in the first quarter of NOK 1.3 billion included two completion contracts for the Aasta Hansteen project, in addition to some growth in existing contracts. "This is an industry with a high degree of visibility with respect to when new projects can be expected. We knew already one year ago that we would have 12 - 18 months with relatively few project awards.

Kvaerner Gets Offshore Spar Topsides Sub-Contract,

Hyundai Heavy Industries (Hyundai) has awarded Kvaerner a sub-contract to provide services for inshore and offshore hook-up and commissioning assistance for the topsides for the Aasta Hansteen spar project. The inshore-work will be carried out at Stord and the offshore scope will be done at the field in the Norwegian Sea 300 km west of Bodø. Kvaerner explain that the inshore work will be carried out during the first half of 2016 while the platform is moored at Kvaerner's deep water site in Digernessundet, close to Kvaerner's offshore yard at Stord.

Kværner to Play Part in Construction of Enormous Offshore Spar Platform

Norway's Kværner ASA say that Technip Norge AS has awarded them a sub-contract for the Fjord Base and Support Services up-ending and preparation for mating operations of the sub-structure for the Aasta Hansteen Spar platform. With a total length of 198 meters, Aasta Hansteen will be the world's largest spar platform, claims Kværner,  and the first of its kind on the Norwegian continental shelf. Statoil has contracted Technip and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in a consortium to engineer, procure and construct (EPC) the Aasta Hansteen spar substructure.

Kværner ASA : Q4 & Preliminary 2012 Results

Kværner reported operating revenues of NOK 2 930 million in the fourth quarter 2012. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) amounted to NOK 119 million, resulting in an EBITDA margin of 4.1 percent. The order backlog amounted to NOK 21 262 million. "The record high order backlog provides a good foundation for the activity level over the next years. Furthermore, it provides us with a strong basis to optimise our execution and improve our competitiveness", says Jan Arve Haugan, President & CEO of Kvaerner. Operating revenues in the fourth quarter 2012 amounted to NOK 2 930 million, compared with NOK 3 004 million for the fourth quarter 2011. Full year operating revenues totalled NOK 10 748 million, compared with NOK 13 295 for the full year 2011.

Kværner Profits Slip, Bulging Order Book

Kværner ASA issue fourth quarter and preliminary annual financial results 2012. Kvaerner reported operating revenues of NOK 2 930 million in the fourth quarter 2012. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) amounted to NOK 119 million, resulting in an EBITDA margin of 4.1 percent. The order backlog amounted to NOK 21 262 million. Operating revenues in the fourth quarter 2012 amounted to NOK 2 930 million, compared with NOK 3 004 million for the fourth quarter 2011. Full year operating revenues totalled NOK 10 748 million, compared with NOK 13 295 for the full year 2011. The reduction from last year is mainly due to significant decrease in operating revenue from the International business area and the Downstream & Industrials segment.

Oil Platform Hook-up, Commissioning Contract for Kvaerner

Norway's Kværner ASA contracted to perform Edvard Grieg field (in the North Sea) offshore hook-up and commissioning assistance. Lundin Norway AS has confirmed an option in the Edvard Grieg topside contract for Kvaerner to perform the offshore hook-up and commissioning assistance. Estimated value is NOK 525 million. Kvaerner was in May awarded a contract by Lundin Norway AS to perform engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the topside for the Edvard Grieg platform, with an estimated contract value of NOK 8 billion. Lundin Norway AS has now confirmed an option in the contract to perform offshore hook-up and commissioning assistance, which will add approximately NOK 525 million to the contract value.

Aker Solutions to Deliver Services to Kvaerner's Contract

On May 3, 2012 Kvaerner ASA announced its intent to use Aker Solutions as a sub-contractor for its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the topside for the Edvard Grieg platform (formerly Luno). The field is operated by the Swedish oil and gas exploration and production company Lundin. Aker Solutions will deliver design engineering and procurement services from the company's offices in Oslo, Norway and Mumbai, India, with support from Kvaerner. Fabrication and assembly of the 4 500 tonne process module will be conducted by Aker Solutions' yard in Egersund.

Kvaerner Authorized for Next Stage Work on Canadian Drilling Project

Kværner ASA authorised for further work on Hebron Project in Newfoundland & Labrador Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors, the 50/50 joint venture between Peter Kiewit Infrastructure and Kvaerner, has been authorised by ExxonMobil Canada Properties (EMCP) to proceed with work on the Hebron Project gravity based structure (GBS) project in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.   The authorisation follows substantial completion of front end engineering and design services and awards the next phase, which includes detailed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) related services. Kvaerner estimates its share of this work to be approximately USD 125-150 million.

Kværner ASA Updates Verdal Accident Situation

Kværner ASA: Serious accident at Verdal: internal investigation completed. Kvaerner's internal investigation following from the serious crane accident at the Verdal yard 8 February 2012 has been completed and the main findings have been presented to the Police and the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority. The investigation report examines the accident in detail, reviews the existing health and safety procedures in place for work at heights, and gives further recommendations to improve safety by specific measures and actions. This accident could have been avoided if more safety barriers had been in place, been more precise and been followed.

Aker Solutions Announces Strong Backlog

Aker Solutions' operating revenues in the second quarter of 2011 were NOK 7.8 billion. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation amounted to NOK 636 million. Order intake in the quarter was NOK 14.3 billion. "We have a strong order intake which reflects high tendering and activity levels across all business segments. In fact, our order backlog has increased 19 percent since the beginning of the year. This is in line with our long term growth plan. However, this quarter has also provided us with some reminders about the importance of further improving our operational performance," says Øyvind Eriksen, executive chairman of Aker Solutions. Second quarter consolidated revenues was NOK 7 809 million, compared with NOK 8 096 million in the same period in 2010.

Kvaerner Announces Election of New Board Members

The Directors to Kvaerner's Board have been elected. From Kvaerner's first day of trading on the Oslo Stock Exchange in July 2011, the Board of Directors will consist of five shareholder-elected members as well as three members elected by Kvaerner's employees. The shareholder-elected members are Kjell Inge Røkke (chairman), Tore Torvund, Bruno Weymuller, Lone Fønss Schrøder and Vibeke Hammer Madsen. The employee-elected members are Rune Rafdal, Ståle Knoff Johansen and Bernt Harald Kilnes. Kjell Inge Røkke is an entrepreneur and industrialist, and has been a driving force in the development of Aker since the 1990s. Mr. Røkke owns 67.8 percent of Aker ASA through The Resource Group TRG AS.

Aker Solutions Q1 Results 2011

6 May 2011 - Aker Solutions' operating revenues in the first quarter of 2011 were NOK 12 billion, and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation amounted to NOK 1.8 billion, including profit from asset sales and non-recurring items. "The streamlining of our business is nearly complete, and Kvaerner is scheduled to be listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in July. Solid first quarter earnings and gains from strategic asset divestments have generated a NOK 1 billion net cash position.

Proposed Demerger of Aker Solutions

6 April 2011 - In accordance with the strategy previously disclosed, the Board of Directors of Aker Solutions ASA ("Aker Solutions") has resolved to propose to the shareholders of Aker Solutions that Aker Solutions is to be demerged. •    The Aker Solutions group's activities relating to its EPC Centre Houston and the union construction businesses in the United States and Canada. Upon completion of the demerger, consideration shares in Kværner will be issued to the shareholders of Aker Solutions. Each share in Aker Solutions will give the right to one consideration share in Kværner.

Aker Kvaerner Wins Contracts from Daewoo

Norwegian engineering, construction and technology group Aker Kvaerner ASA has secured two drilling riser systems contracts from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. The contracts, worth $75m, cover complete deepwater marine drilling riser system with buoyancy package and associated equipment. The systems will be used for two drilling units under construction by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. The drilling riser systems will be manufactured by Aker Kvaerner Subsea in Malaysia and delivered in 2010.

Management Change in Aker Yards

Mr Leif Borge, CFO, has accepted a position as CFO in Aker Kvaerner ASA and will for that reason leave Aker Yards at the end of his notice period. Recruitment of his successor has been initiated. Mr Borge has been CFO of Aker Yards since 2002. Mr Julin says in a comment: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Borge for the excellent work he has put down for Aker Yards so far. He has been instrumental in developing the company into its current form, as a leading international shipbuilder with 21 000 employees. Since the listing at Oslo Stock Exchange in 2004, Mr Borge has been an important contributor to the company's growth."

Lund Named New Statoil CEO

At its meeting on March 7, 2004, Statoil's board of directors appointed Helge Lund (42) as new chief executive for the Statoil group. Mr Lund is currently chief executive of Aker Kværner ASA. "Helge Lund was the first choice of the board and we are very pleased that he has agreed to lead Statoil in the years ahead," said Statoil chair Jannik Lindbæk. Lund graduated as a business economist at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administrationin Bergen. He also has a master of business administration (MBA) from the Insead business school in France. Before he became chief executive of Aker Kværner, Lund had a number of positions in the Aker RGI system, and before that he had a central role in the top management of Hafslund Nycomed.
