NMEA Names KVHI's TracPhone V3 'Best Communication Product'

The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) recognizes KHVI for its TracPhone V3, the world's smallest maritime VSAT antenna. The KVH TracPhone V3 is designed to work with KVH's mini-VSAT Broadband satellite network which KVH built to provide customers with an  alternative to the Inmarsat service. Due to the mini-VSAT Broadband network's unique spread spectrum technology (similar to that used in the new high-powered 3G and 4G networks on land), KVH was able to develop the TracPhone V3, a system similar in size and cost to Inmarsat FleetBroadband equipment, but offering service up to ten times faster at broadband speeds of up to 2 Mbps, with airtime rates 1/10th the cost of Inmarsat.

KVH Pairs mini-VSAT with Iridium Open Port Broadband

KVH TracPhone V3-IP goes fully global for commercial mariners as it pairs up with integrated Iridium OpenPort Broadband Service. Coinciding with the introduction of its new TracPhone® V3-IP satellite communications system, KVH Industries, Inc., announces availability of an integrated service package that pairs its exclusive mini-VSAT Broadbandsm service with the Iridium OpenPort® broadband service for seamless, fully global connectivity. The new TracPhone V3-IP will provide coverage throughout the extensive Ku-band mini-VSAT Broadband global coverage offering, with Iridium OpenPort service extending that to remote regions including the polar areas.

RHL Hamburger Lloyd Selects KVH Broadband Service

Compact and rugged, KVH’s TracPhone V7-IP Ku-band VSAT system was chosen to meet growing bandwidth usage and Internet demand onboard the RHL Hamburger Lloyd tankers.

To meet growing bandwidth usage and Internet demand onboard its tanker fleet, RHL Hamburger Lloyd Tanker GmbH & Co. KG, of Hamburg, Germany, an international shipping company known for managing sophisticated, innovative tankers, has chosen KVH Industries, Inc., for its mini-VSAT Broadband satellite communications solution. Twelve oil and chemical tankers will be outfitted with KVH’s TracPhone V7-IP satellite antenna systems in the next month, with a potential for 16 additional container vessels to receive KVH systems.

USCG Deploys KVH TracPhone V7 Satellite

In an effort to expand its communications capacity and take advantage of affordable, emerging commercial satellite services, the United States Coast Guard is in the process of deploying the TracPhone V7 and mini-VSAT Broadband service from KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) on its 110-ft and 225-ft cutters. Intended to replace older satellite communications systems and services, the KVH integrated antenna and service solution is now offering increased bandwidth, reduced operating costs, and seamless coverage in key operational areas for the Coast Guard vessels. The mini-VSAT Broadband service, along with the KVH TracPhone V7 antenna, comprise the an end-to-end 24-inch VSAT antenna, service, and support package available for maritime communications.

More than 100 USCG Vessels Install KVH mini-VSAT

A fast-response cutter of the U.S. Coast Guard is one of several classes of cutters with KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband systems onboard as the connectivity solution.

The ongoing maritime VSAT installations are part of KVH’s 10-year contract with the U.S. KVH Industries, Inc., said it has surpassed the 100-vessel mark in its 10-year contract to supply the next-generation satellite communications solution for the U.S. Coast Guard’s fleet of small cutters. To date, KVH’s TracPhone V7  systems have been deployed on 105 USCG vessels across eight different classes of cutters, and KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband service has provided 29.2 terabytes of data and more than 835,000 Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) minutes.

Major Commercial Fleets Commit to New KVH Broadband Airtime Plans

In recent months, many of KVH’s largest and most important fleet customers have chosen usage-based plans—including Open plans, the newest set of usage-based airtime plans offered by KVH.

KVH and ViaSat Expand to Persian Gulf

Crews on commercial oil and gas, shipping, and government vessels in the Persian Gulf now have access to affordable broadband Internet and crystal-clear telephone service throughout the region with the recent expansion of the mini-VSAT Broadband(SM) service from KVH Industries (NASDAQ:KVHI) . The new coverage area brings affordable satellite communications to a region where secure real-time communications are a necessity, via KVH's rugged TracPhone(R) V7 hardware. In addition to providing service to the KVH mini-VSAT maritime system, this expansion also extends the ViaSat Yonder(SM) mobile network for in-flight broadband to business and commercial aircraft.

KVH Ships 7,000th mini-VSAT Broadband System

KVH Industries, Inc. has shipped more than 7,000 mini-VSAT Broadbandsm systems, designed and manufactured by KVH to provide mobile connectivity at sea. The TracPhone V-series satellite communications antenna systems are currently in use on everything from small recreational sailboats cruising the coastline to 1,000-foot commercial freighters transiting the world’s oceans. KVH launched the mini-VSAT Broadband service in July 2007, and has seen the popularity of the service grow, coinciding with an overall trend in the maritime industry toward increased reliance on broadband connectivity. As recently as September 2016, industry analyst Northern Sky Research reported that KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband customers account for 29 percent of the vessels using Ku-band service.

KVH Industries Opens Office in Japan

500th TracPhone V7 Broadband Antenna

Iridium, KVH Team on Broadband Solution

Iridium Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: IRDM) and KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) have agreed to offer what the pair is touting as the first-ever, fully global, seamless broadband satellite communications service for the maritime market. Faced with a growing need for reliable connections to shore and increased control over variable and increasingly expensive communications costs, M. H. Simonsen ApS, of Denmark, recently adopted the TracPhone V7 and mini-VSAT Broadband(SM) service from KVH Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:KVHI) as its primary communications solution on six ice class oil/chemical tankers. Communications capabilities are also important factors in strengthening the competitive position for commercial shipping companies through the Ship Inspection Report Programme (SIRE), which tracks safety and quality in the shipping industry and helps fleets with high scores to secure the most lucrative contracts. KVH mini-VSAT Broadband Service

As part of its global network expansion plan, KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) announced that it has taken operational responsibility of the mini-VSAT Broadband service network supporting North America and the Caribbean. These regions were previously managed under a revenue sharing agreement with SES Americom. This arrangement has been terminated in favor of a leasing agreement with SES Americom for bandwidth on its AMC-21 and AMC-6 satellites. KVH also purchased the Miami satellite network hub that supports the Caribbean region from SES Americom. In addition, the company has applied for operating licenses in KVH’s name and has already been granted Special Temporary Authority by the FCC to continue operation of the mini-VSAT Broadband service in these areas without interruption.

KVH to Transmit AWT Weather Data

KVH says it plans to offer affordable delivery of AWT’s global weather data to subscribing vessels over the mini-VSAT Broadband network. KVH Industries explains that it has become the WEATHERlink launch partner for KVH’s IP-MobileCast content delivery service. KVH will use IP-MobileCast multicasting technology, to deliver AWT’s high-resolution weather and ocean data to ships at sea for a low fixed monthly fee. AWT is a marine industry leader in weather forecasting and ship routing.
