400 in 10: Water Bus Market Emerges

Models of water taxis and water buses on display at the Middle East Workboats exhibition and conference taking place in Abu Dhabi.

Regional demand for fast vessels carrying between eight and up to 300 passengers could exceed 400 over the next 10 years, said shipbuilders from countries such as the Netherlands, Turkey, Norway and Australia hoping to win a share of orders. “We are anticipating there is going to be a huge demand for passenger transport of all kinds,” said Martin de Bruijn, Middle East sales director for Damen Shipyards of the Netherlands which recently announced a joint venture with Albwardy Marine Engineering of Dubai.

ABG Shipyard Delivers Two Vessels

ABG Shipyard Ltd has announced that the company has delivered two vessels. The 173 ft. long, 90 Ton Bollard Pull Azimuth Drive Propulsion AHTS is able to carry out Anchor handling Towing Rescue, Offshore Supply, Transport Pipes, fresh water, diesel oil, Stores, Materials and equipment, move men and materials between platforms and shore, external fire fighting and other related duties. The vessel is to supply, support the Floating Production Offloading Storage (FPSO) vessels, offshore oil and gas field on a twenty four (24) hour per day basis. The Lamnalco Macaw is the second vessel to be delivered to Lamnalco in this financial year. The Company has so far delivered 7 vessels, including the present one, to Lamnalco Group.
