Cargotec's subsidiary MacGregor has won a contract with the U.S. offshore support vessel owner Otto Candies to deliver an active heave compensated FibreTrac offshore crane.The order was booked in Cargotec’s 2022 first quarter order intake, with delivery expected to be completed by the end of the year. MacGregor told Offshore Engineer that the crane would be installed aboard the Wyatt Candies dive support vessel.The scope of supply includes full delivery of the 150t AHC crane, rated for the client's needs at 100t lifting capacity, together with Lankhorst Lanko®Deep Dyneema DM20 fiber rope for 3400m operational depth."The crane is the first of its type and provides the ability to lift heavy loads at depths that normally require much larger cranes on larger vessels…

Oil and gas company Energean, working to develop its Karish field offshore Israel, expects that the FPSO being built for the eastern Mediterranean Sea project will set sail from Singapore in the summer of 2021. The London-listed company shared the info as part of its first-half results presentation on Thursday.The FPSO, called Energean Power, is currently in Singapore where the China-built hull is being fitted with topside modules. First topside module was lifted and installed earlier this week on the Energean Power FPSO hull at Sembcorp Marine's Admiralty Yard in Singapore.Oil and gas company Energean said that the electrical house (E-house), which contains all the FPSO control equipment and electrical switchgear, was lifted onto the Energean Power hull on the 24th August. Lankhorst Offshore reports it has been awarded a contract by SBM Offshore to supply the deepwater mooring lines for the Liza Unity Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) for ExxonMobil’s Liza oil field offshore Guyana, South America. This follows the deployment of Lankhorst mooring lines for the Liza Destiny FPSO mooring system also in the Liza field.The Liza Unity FPSO, based on SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward FPSO design, will be spread moored at a water depth of 1,600m with 20 Cabral 512 deepwater mooring lines with a minimum breaking strength of 12,300 kN.

Brunswick Corporation said it has completed its acquisition of Lankhorst Taselaar, a marine parts and accessories distribution company based in the Netherlands and Germany. Lankhorst Taselaar will be integrated into Mercury Marine to augment the engine maker’s P&A business in Europe. “Lankhorst Taselaar bolsters and solidifies the distribution arm of our marine P&A business in Europe,” said Brunswick Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Schwabero. “As we have done in recent years with BLA in Australia and Payne’s Marine in Canada, Lankhorst Taselaar expands our reach and customer responsiveness in the global marine marketplace and offers us a larger footprint upon which to build in Europe.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has announced that it is now building one of the most advanced fiber-rope cranes on the market. The MacGregor FiberTrac crane will have a 150-metric-ton safe working load capacity and will be ready for testing during the first quarter of 2018. Lankhorst Euronete SA is supplying fibre mooring ropes to Global Maritime Consultancy & Engineering for construction of the world’s largest fish farm near the island of Froya, offshore Norway. The new concept fish farm is a pilot facility developed by Ocean Farming, a subsidiary of the SalMar Group. The aquaculture facility comprises a slack anchored, semi-submersible structure, permanently moored at a water depth of 300m by eight 130m polyester mooring lines. Each mooring line is made up of an anchor and two lengths of rope, joined by a H-link.

Moreover, the KO-LINK replaces the commonly used cow-hitch knot, which if poorly made can cause unequal loading on the eyes resulting in premature line failure.

WireCo WorldGroup Inc., the world’s leading producer and marketer of specialty steel ropes and high synthetic ropes, announced today that WireCo has acquired the assets of Endenburg B.V., a Netherlands-based company. As part of the agreement, WireCo will establish a crane rope distribution center at the current Gouda location, called the WireCo Crane Center. Founded in 1855 and headquartered in Gouda, Netherlands, Endenburg supplies hoisting and lifting gear including steel wire ropes, shackles, fiber ropes and custom-made tarpaulin covers for the shipping, towing, construction and transport industry. The Endenburg name will not be continued and all activities will be incorporated into current WireCo business units.

Offshore rope manufacturer Lankhorst Ropes has been awarded a contract by Hyundai Heavy Industries and Technip USA consortium (HHITECH) to supply the mooring lines for Statoil’s Aasta Hansteen Spar platform to be located in the Norwegian sector of the Norwegian Sea. According to Lankhorst, it is the largest single order for deepwater mooring ropes, and believed to be the largest ever order in the global synthetic fiber rope industry. Offshore rope manufacturer, Lankhorst Ropes has been awarded a contract by Aberdeen based Dana Petroleum to provide Gama 98 polyester mooring lines for the Western Isles Development FPSO vessel (Floating Production Storage and Offloading). Given the weather conditions in the North Sea, and relatively shallow water depth, the cylindrically shaped FPSO will use a semi-taut leg mooring system. It will be moored with 14 polyester mooring lines in three clusters of 4, 4 and 6 lines at 250m water depth.

Offshore mooring rope specialist, Lankhorst Ropes was awarded a contract by NOV Flexibles, Denmark, to supply Lankoforce riser tethers for the Knarr field development, located in 410m of water in the North Tampen region of the Norwegian Sector of the Northern North Sea. The riser tethers will be the first to use Dyneema DM 20, a high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) rope, for permanent subsea anchoring of flexible risers. Italian company Rosetti Marino tests its new 220-mt bollard pull Anchor Handling, Tug, Supply & Service Vessel (AHTS). Since 2010, bollard pull testing has become standard practice for newly built steel tugs. The test provides a good measure of the tugboat’s maximum pulling load. Contacted to supply a bollard pull test rope at short notice, Lankhorst supplied a 88 mm diameter, 300 m LankoForce rope made from high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) Dyneema. The rope has an actual breaking load of 4806 kN (490 mT) (spliced). Based in Ravenna, Italy, Rosetti Marino specialises in PSV's designed to provide assistance to offshore oil platforms and safely transport equipment and material to and from the platforms, even those located in very rough waters, such as the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.

Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division (LROD) announced the latest results of offshore trials of its Lankofirst synthetic fiber rope mooring connector on booth 1517 at OTC 2013. The trials have shown a significant reduction in mooring line deployment times and improvements in health and safety using the Lankofirst connector, compared with traditional mooring line plate links and thimbles. The Lankhorst booth will also feature the ultra-low creep HMPE mooring rope made with Dyneema for permanent deepwater moorings beyond 2,000m water depth, and Lankhorst Mouldings' buoyancy modules for fiber rope mooring lines for the Goliat FPSO project.

Ropes manufacturer Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division expanded its range of high performance mooring and anchoring ropes to include steel wire ropes for the offshore market. The company is now able to offer both synthetic and steel wire ropes for mooring and anchor systems, as well as towing, crane lifting, riser tensioners and drilling applications. Initially, Lankhorst will supply six-strand, eight-strand and multi strand (non-rotating) steel wire ropes direct from WireCo WorldGroup factories in Germany, U.S., Mexico, Portugal and Poland.

Lankhorst Ropes wins Seatralde 'Innovation in Ship Operations' award for its Tipto Winchline which reduces crew risk of being struck by a parted mooring rope. A snapped mooring rope is, thankfully, a rare occurrence, but when it does happen the results can be devastating. Using its expertise in yarn production and rope construction, Lankhorst Ropes has developed the Tipto Winchline to provide a safer mooring rope.
