Most Powerful Offshore Wind Turbine Erected

Swiss multinational equipment manufacturer Liebherr Group said that its cranes erected the prototype of what is currently the most powerful offshore wind turbine in the world in the Dutch port of Rotterdam.The gondola of the wind turbine, which measures an overall 207 meters in height, has a net weight of 675 tonnes. It was the heaviest load for the two Liebherr crawler cranes used for the job. World economic development was weaker in 2012 than in the previous year. Although growth was still 3.2%, the emerging markets’ rates of growth declined as well. The industrial nations continued to pursue a course between consolidation and economic stabilization. Within the Eurozone only a few countries achieved economic growth. Overload test for Liebherr Heavy Lift Crane

Currently the support vessel Caballo Marango is being equipped with a Liebherr heavy lift crane, type BOS 35000, in the port of Rostock. The overload test has now been carried out and the offshore crane successfully lifted 1,100 t which is 110%  of its maximum lifting capacity. The crane, offering a maximum boom length of 102 m, was built at the Liebherr plant in Rostock within the last eight months. Forming part of the Caballo Marango’s equipment it is intended to execute future assembly and reconstruction work on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico for the Mexican service company Oceanografia.
