Golar LNG Ltd said on Tuesday that it received a force majeure notice from a BP Plc unit seeking to delay taking delivery of a floating liquefied natural gas facility by a year.The notice is the latest force majeure claim issued in the LNG sector that is struggling with a seasonal plunge in demand as well as the spread of the coronavirus outbreak, which has further hammered the consumption of the super-chilled fuel globally.BP is expecting a one-year delay due to the pandemic and currently sees no possibility in reducing the duration of the new timing…

Russian largest independent gas producer and liquefied natural gas (LNG) player Novatek signed a deal with TechnipFMC for its Arctic LNG 2 project.The contract was signed on engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning (EPC) of an integrated liquefied natural gas facility with an annual liquefaction capacity of 19.8 million tons under the Arctic LNG 2 project, said a press release from the Russia's second largest natural gas producer.The contract terms provide for the launch of the first train of the project in 2023, said the release.“The team, which implemented the unique Yamal LNG project in record time and on budget…

Crowley Fuels has announced that it has signed another multi-year supply contract with Pivotal LNG to support a major pharmaceutical company’s energy needs in Puerto Rico. The contract, executed through Crowley subsidiary Carib Energy (USA) LLC, calls for Crowley to transport LNG from Pivotal facilities on the mainland to the island manufacturer. With Crowley’s supply chain solution, LNG is loaded into Crowley’s 10,000-gallon international shipping organization (ISO) containers at one of Pivotal’s LNG supply sources in the southeastern U.S.

Singapore’s offshore marine services provider PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd. (POSH) has been awarded a contract to support Shell’s Prelude floating liquefied natural gas facility using its semi-submersible accommodation vessel the “POSH Arcadia”. The 750-pax POSH Arcadia will be deployed to provide accommodation support for the hook-up and commissioning phase of the Shell Prelude FLNG Project in the Browse Basin, off the north-west coast of Western Australia. This is POSH’s second contract for the Prelude FLNG Project. In January 2016, the POSH Terasea joint venture, comprising POSH and Terasea Pte. Ltd., was appointed to provide towage and positioning services for the facility.

Germany’s Linde Group will build the first FLNG (Floating Liquefied Natural Gas) facility in Iran, Iran’s oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said. Zanganeh said that building LNG-producing facility in line with exports of LNG to European countries is a priority for the ministry. Currently, it has a 60-per cent physical growth and when completed, it will add to the 10.5 million metric tons of LNG annually, reports MNA. The Malahat First Nations and Steelhead LNG plan for a floating natural gas liquefaction plant proposed for the waters of the Saanich Inlet. The Mill Bay-based Malahat First Nation and Vancouver-based Steelhead LNG have entered into a partnership - to be known as Malahat LNG  - to develop an liquefied natural gas facility in Bamberton, about 40 kilometres north of Victoria, B.C. The floating plant would be moored to the shoreline of the Malahat-owned land formerly known as Bramberton, and would be expected to generate revenue for 30 years, according to Steelhead. Representatives of the partnership made the announcement of a mutual benefits agreement and a long-term lease.

Canada's Quebec province could start exporting crude from oil sands and also liquefied natural gas to Asia and Europe from 2017-2018, as buyers search for alternative suppliers to Russia, Quebec's energy minister said. The standoff between Russia and the West over Ukraine has increased Europe's quest for alternative suppliers of oil and gas and Canada's exports to Europe have already started to pick up in the last few months. An explosion on Wednesday rocked a natural gas-processing plant in Wyoming that can churn out about 2 percent of the daily U.S. gas supply, though no injuries were reported. The blast at the Williams Companies Inc plant in Opal, Wyoming, touched off a fire that was still burning several hours later, company spokeswoman Michele Swanersaid. She said all 42 employees of the evacuated plant had been accounted for and were not injured. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department said the fire had been contained to one area of the plant. Shelters were set up for people in the town of 100 people and nearby Highway 30 was closed. The explosion, the second safety incident suffered by Williams Companies in the last few weeks, could lead to pockets of higher prices in parts of the United States.

Drydocks World has announced that Shell’s pioneering Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility – the world’s first – was initiated with a Steel Cutting ceremony of its Turret, the world’s largest – at more than 90 m in height and 30 m in diameter and weighing 11,500 tonnes. The Ceremony was attended by senior personnel from Shell, Technip, SHI and SBM Offshore. The Turret will be built as six modules at the Dubai shipyard and shipped to Samsung Heavy Industry's yard in Korea, where these will be integrated into the FLNG facility, once it is built.

Gov. Martin O'Malley urged the federal government Wednesday to deny a proposal from AES Corp. to build a liquefied natural gas facility on Sparrows Point. The Arlington, Va., company, filed an application last month with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to build the LNG plant near the Turner Station neighborhood of Baltimore County. Baltimore County has proposed legislation to stop the construction. But the federal energy commission can overturn local laws if it feels the project is deemed to be in the best interest of the country. The plant has the potential to provide power for large portions of New England and the mid-Atlantic. O'Malley said in a statement Wednesday that he opposes the project.

An administrative law judge has suspended Pilot John C. McCarthy III's license Friday for eight months, with additional 12 months probation, after ruling that the Coast Guard proved its case of negligence and misconduct against him. The judge's decision stemmed from a March 14, 2006, incident on the Savannah River where the tank vessel Charleston, piloted by McCarthy, passed the liquefied natural gas facility on Elba Island at a speed in excess of 14 knots during an LNG transfer. The surge resulting from the vessel's speed caused an emergency dock shutdown, cargo hose separations, the collapse of a gangway, and mooring lines to part. All emergency equipment at the LNG facility functioned as designed and no LNG was released as a result of the damage.

Suez Energy North America's subsidiary, Calypso LNG, LLC has received a letter from the United States Coast Guard deeming complete Calypso's application for a Deepwater Port License. A Notice of Application will be published in the Federal Register which will start a statutory review period for approval of a license to build and operate Calypso's proposed offshore liquefied natural gas facility. On March 1, 2006, Calypso filed a Deepwater Port License Application with the U.S. Coast Guard, which has jurisdiction for the permitting, operation and security for such facilities located in federal waters.
