Odfjell Announces Deals to Add Six Newbuilds

Norwegian shipping company Odfjell SE announced it is expanding its fleet with six newbuildings through a combination of long-term time charter and pool agreements with Japanese shipowners and shipyards.This increases the total to twelve 25,000 - 40,000 dwt stainless steel vessels to be delivered on long-term time charters and pool agreements between 2024 and 2027.The series of newbuildings will be built at multiple shipyards in Japan and are scheduled to be delivered from 1H2026 to 1H2027.

Stolt-Nielsen Confirms Strong Third Quarter

Stolt-Nielsen Limited has reported unaudited results for the third quarter ending August 31, 2023 including a net profit of $90.1 million with revenue of $694.4 million.This compares with a net profit of $8.3 million, with revenue of $721.9 million, in the second quarter of 2023. Stena Bulk Presents Fuel-efficient Tanker Prototype

Swedish shipowner Stena Bulk unveiled a prototype of its next-generation environmentally friendly product and chemical tanker, the IMOFlexMAX, engineered to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 25% compared to typical modern product tankers.The vessel, designed by naval architects at Stena Bulk's sister company Stena Teknik, is a further development of the company's IMOIIMAX design currently in operation, but with several notable additions. The vessels will be equipped with Flettner rotors and solar panels to harvest energy from wind and sunlight.

QP Issues Tender for 4 Mega LNG Trains

Kirby to Acquire CGBM's Inland Tank Barge Fleet

Kirby Corporation has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire substantially all of CGBM 100, LLC's inland marine tank barge fleet for an undisclosed amount.Under the terms of the agreement, Kirby will acquire 27 of CGBM's 10,000 barrel inland marine tank barges which have a total capacity of approximately 270,000 barrels. Kirby Acquires Targa's Inland Tank Barge Fleet

Kirby Corporation has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire Targa Resources Corp’s inland marine tank barge business for approximately $69.3 million in cash. The purchase will be financed through additional borrowings. Targa’s inland marine tank barge fleet consists of 16 pressure barges that have a total capacity of approximately 258,000 barrels, many of which are under long-term multi-year contracts. The closing of the acquisition is expected to occur near the end of the second quarter and is subject to customary closing conditions. Vopak to Invest in Rotterdam Terminal

Vopak Rotterdam Botlek is investing in 63.000 cbm state-of-the-art stainless steel capacity (15 tanks) for the storage of Styrene and other hazardous chemicals. Styrene is a vital product used in manufacturing of a wide variety of consumer goods serving markets such as packaging, construction (for example isolation) and automotive. The new infrastructure will be fully insulated to allow for product temperature control and is designed to prevent any emissions to the environment. Odfjell Sells Its Share in Oman Tank Terminal

Odfjell SE announced that Odfjell Terminals B.V. (OTBV), the joint venture holding company that owns and operates substantially all of Odfjell's tank terminals worldwide, has entered into an agreement to sell its 29.75 percent indirect ownership in Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Co. LLC (OOT) in Oman for around $130 million. The transaction will result in a net gain of approximately $90 million for OTBV. Closing of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approval. Fuel oils are mainly a blend of oils and other components, for example; aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene and xylene. Gasoline, for instance, is a refined product of petroleum, consisting of a mixture of hydrocarbons, additives and blending agents. Its composition varies widely depending on the crude oils used, the refinery processes, the type of product demanded and its specifications.

Kirby Awards ATB Contracts to Bay Shipbuilding

Bay Shipbuilding Company (BSC) of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, a subsidiary of Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG), has been awarded a contract to build two 155,000-barrel capacity barges and two 6,000 HP tugs for Kirby Corporation. Kirby Announce Record Earnings in Q1 2014

US tank barge operator and diesel engine service providers, Kirby Corporation, inform that earnings for the first quarter ending March 31, 2014 amounted to $62.2 million, or $1.09 per share, compared with $56.6 million, or $1.00 per share, for the 2013 first quarter. Consolidated revenues for the 2014 first quarter were $589.2 million compared with $558.8 million reported for the 2013 first quarter. Kirby's 2014 first quarter results included a $0.03 per share severance charge and an estimated $0.03 per share combined impact from delays related to winter weather and the costs associated with a collision of a Kirby vessel in the Houston Ship Channel.

AEP Barges into the Liquid Transport Markets

Answering the needs of longstanding clients, bulk transport giant AEP dips its toes into the liquid transport arena. AEP River Operations needs no introduction for most MarineNews readers. One of the true river giants operating on America’s domestic inland waters today, AEP is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, and is primarily known as a barge company that provides transportation of dry bulk commodities throughout the inland river system. New Tank Barge Arrives & AEP Begins River Transport

AEP River Operations say they have began operations of its new Liquids Division today with receipt of the first of 20 tank barges. The addition of tank barges to the company's fleet will allow them to transport liquid commodities, including petrochemicals and agricultural chemicals. The company informs that its liquid barge fleet is being constructed by Jeffboat, based in Jeffersonville, Ind. Each barge will have a capacity of 11,000 barrels and measure 200 feet long and 35 feet wide, with external frames, 6-pound press tank tops, vapor recovery and Tier III John Deere engines.

Rederiet Stenersen Orders Solasolv Screens

U.K. based Solar Solve Marine received two orders to supply SOLASOLV class approved roller screens from Stenships KS, a subsidiary of Rederiet Stenersen AS, headquartered in Bergen, Norway. Rederiet Stenersen transports liquid products with 17 chemical/product tankers ranging from 17-19,000 DWT deployed in North West European Trade. In December and January the company placed two orders for the M/T Sten Suomi and M/T Sten Bothnia. SOLASOLV antiglare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide.

Kirby to Order New Articulated Tank Barge, Tugboat, Pair

Kirby Corporation says it is to construct an articulated 185,000 barrel tank barge and 10,000 horsepower tugboat unit (ATB unit) at a cost of $75 to $80 million for charter to a customer when completed.
