'Navigator of the Seas' to Homeport Port of Galveston

Port of Galveston say that Royal Caribbean International is to base their Voyager-class ship year-round from Galveston, from November 2013. The Navigator of the Seas, due for an extensive drydock refit in January 2014, will replace Mariner of the Seas to offer Texas vacationers roundtrip seven-night Western Caribbean itineraries throughout the year. “The repositioning of Navigator of the Seas to the Port of Galveston represents Royal Caribbean’s confidence in the Port of Galveston’s efficient cruise  operations and ability to attract passengers on its Voyager class ships…

Royal Caribbean Promotes Executives

Royal Caribbean Cruises's Brian Rice has been promoted to Vice Chairman and CFO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. In this expanded role, Rice will continue to oversee the finance function, but also take on responsibility for the company's supply chain department, as well as focusing more on strategic issues. Rice will continue to report directly to Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO. Rice has been with Royal Caribbean for over 20 years, most recently as Executive Vice President and CFO. Prior to that, Rice has served in a variety of senior management positions, including Senior Vice President, Revenue Performance, where he was responsible for revenue management, air/sea, groups, international operations, decision support, reservations and customer service.

Shanghai Receives Asia's Largest Cruise Ship

Royal Caribbean International's cruise ship 'Voyager of the Seas' docked at Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal for the first time to launch its summer cruise itineraries in China. “China’s cruise market is young and vibrant. Royal Caribbean International is optimistic about the development of the cruise industry here and will continue the investment in this market,” said Lisa Bauer, RCI’s senior vice-president of global sales and marketing. Bauer said that RCI’s business has been growing significantly since it entered the Chinese market in 2008. The company plans to introduce the Mariner of the Seas – a sister ship of the Voyager of the Seas – to Shanghai next year to meet surging demand. The Voyager of the Seas will mainly make trips to Japan and South Korea.
