Gulf LNG Energy, LLC – License Application

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a Notice stating that on October 28 it received an application from Gulf LNG Energy, LLC for authorization to site, construct, and operate: (1) an LNG receiving facility, including docking facilities and associated piping appurtenances; and (2) an LNG storage and vaporization facility, including two LNG storage tanks, vaporization units and associated piping and control equipment, to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) into the United States. Golar LNG Q1 Results 2011

LNG Projects Clear FERC Review

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) staff recently said two proposed liquefied natural gas import terminals on the Mississippi coast would not significantly harm the environment, clearing a major hurdle for the projects to win final approval from the agency. The proposed LNG Clean Energy Project that would be located in the Port of Pascagoula would be able to send out up to 1.5 billion cubic feet of gas a day. The $450 million terminal, which would be operated by the Houston-based private investor group Gulf LNG Energy LLC, would be able to handle 150 LNG tankers a year. Acquisition of Golar LNG Energy Limited

Reference is made to announcement dated on June 3, 2011 where Golar LNG Limited ("Golar LNG") informed of its intent to exercise its right under Bermuda company law to compulsorily acquire all remaining outstanding shares in Golar LNG Energy Limited ("Golar Energy") and the notice of compulsory acquisition ("tvangsinnløsning") dated June 3, 2011 that was sent out to remaining shareholders in Golar Energy.   Golar LNG hereby informs that the compulsory acquisition will be completed at NOK 26.80 per share.   The last day for trading the shares on Oslo Børs will be June 29, 2011. On July 4, 2011 the remaining outstanding shares will be acquired by Golar LNG. Settlement through VPS is expected to take place on July 8, 2011.  

ISS Wins Cheniere Energy Contract

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) announced it has won a new hub agency contract for the Asia-Pacific with LNG energy giant, Cheniere Energy.  Under the two-year contract, ISS will manage approximately 100 port calls annually for Cheniere Energy across the Asia-Pacific, with the first already completed in China.  Cheniere Energy is developing LNG export terminals along the Gulf of Mexico. Through its subsidiary, Cheniere Marketing, it has sold a portion of the production from these facilities under delivered ex-ship (DES) contracts whereby Cheniere Marketing will deliver such LNG to the customers’ terminals. ISS said its services will facilitate these deliveries as well as other deliveries arranged by Cheniere Marketing.

Elengy, a unit of the French energy company and LNG player Engie, said that the LNG receiving terminal in Montoir-de-Bretagne, managed by the company, has just performed a new generation LNG transshipment. The ice-class LNG carrier Fedor Litke (170 000 cm capacity) has delivered to the LNG Jurojin (155 000 cm capacity) an LNG cargo the size of the yearly gas consumption of a city like Nantes. This was done safely during an twin call thanks l. The LNG was transferred through the cryogenic pipelines linking directly the two berths, without going through the terminal’s tanks.

Becker Marine, Kotug Sign MOU for LNG Hybrid Barge

Press release - Becker Marine Systems and KOTUG signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a LNG Hybrid Barge in the Port of Rotterdam with effect from June 2017. The LNG Hybrid Barge, a floating energy plant, is designed to provide environmentally friendly power for ships in ports. The LNG Hybrid Barge will deliver clean energy to moored cruise ships and contributes to a cleaner environment. It is an alternative for producing electricity in the traditional way by either their generator sets or their main engines.

NuBlu: LNG Fueling Station in the GOM

NuBlu Energy has begun the construction of a natural gas liquefaction plant in Port Allen, LA, strategically located along the Mississippi River. NuBlu’s facility will support the region’s high-horsepower fueling applications such as rail, marine, long haul transportation, power generation, gas interruption, asphalt and other energy markets. The facility is slated to be operational and producing high-quality liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the second quarter of 2017. Total planned capacity of the facility is 90,000 gallons per day with an initial start-up capacity of 30,000 GPD. “This project represents the inauguration of a new direction for the LNG energy market.

Louisiana LNG Energy Gets Terminal Funding

Louisiana LNG Energy said on Friday it has secured funding for its natural gas liquefaction facility being developed in Louisiana, which is expected to begin operations in late 2017. The company said it has secured funds from an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners for the terminal, located south of New Orleans at mile marker 46 along the Mississippi River. The terminal has export capacity of two million tonnes per annum, with deep water access for very large gas carriers (VLGC), the company said. The 'mid-scale' LNG export facility will serve export markets with low cost power generation fuels as well as domestic markets with emissions-compliant fuels as an alternative to diesel fuel. Separately, Chevron Corp's Casotte Landing LNG project will be located next to the company's Pascagoula refinery and will process imported LNG for distribution to industrial, commercial and residential customers in Mississippi and the Southeast region, including the growing Florida market. The terminal will be able to send out 1.6 billion cubic feet of LNG a day.

Ince & Co Advises on Floating Storage and Regasification Unit

Ince & Co advised long standing client Golar LNG Energy (Golar LNG) on the successful completion of an 11-year time charter party (TCP) for the provision of a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) and associated mooring to PT Nusantara Regas (PTNR), a joint venture between Indonesian energy companies Pertamina and PGN, for Indonesia's first FSRU terminal in West Java. The regasified LNG will be supplied by PTNR to Indonesia’s state owned electricity company PLN as a replacement for high speed diesel.

Hamworthy Supplies Asian FSRU

Hamworthy has secured the contract to supply liquefied natural gas handling technology for what will be Asia’s first Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU). The marine and offshore fluid handling systems specialist has signed a contract with Golar LNG to deliver a liquefied natural gas regasification system for the West Java FSRU, which will be Indonesia's first LNG regasification terminal. In October, Golar LNG Energy announced that it had been selected by PT Nusantara Regas, a joint venture between Pertamina and PGN, to provide the West Java FSRU. The project will see the existing LNG carrier Khannur converted into a floating terminal that can be situated offshore or at a new or purpose-built jetty/pier.

Evergas Order Wärtsilä Systems for New Multigas Carriers

This order is an extension of the one placed in 2013 for a series of three similar vessels. The ships are being built by the Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard in China, and feature an advanced design that offers very high efficiency and unparalleled flexibility.

US Could Get First LNG Import from Russia despite Sanctions

A vessel that may be carrying liquefied natural gas from Russia's new Yamal LNG export terminal could be heading to the United States despite sanctions against the company that operates the Russian facility, according to a report by S&P Global Platts and Thomson Reuters shipping data. The tanker Chris. De Margerie picked up a cargo from Novatek PAO's Yamal facility, Russia's second LNG export terminal, on Dec. 9 and dropped it off at National Grid Plc's Isle of Grain LNG facility near London on Dec. 28, according to Thomson Reuters data.

TEN Sells, Leaseback Two Suezmax Tankers

Greece-based Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN)  has announced that it has sold for $65.2 million gross, through a five-year sale and leaseback transaction, the 2005-built Suezmax tankers Eurochampion 2004 and Euronike. The sale proceeds have been used to reduce debt and add $16.0 million of cash to TEN’s balance sheet. Andreas Silcher Negotiates LNG Carrier Contracts

Partner Andreas Silcher in Haynes and Boone’s London office represented TMS Cardiff Gas in its contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea (HHI) for the construction of one 174,000 cubic meter LNG carrier with XDF propulsion, plus an option for a second vessel. In a press release, TMS Cardiff Gas called the order the first in the company’s X Carrier Series of orders, which expands the company’s fleet of managed vessels to 10. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2020, when she will enter into a seven-year time charter contract with TOTAL Gas & Power Chartering, Limited.

Golar LNG Bags New Long-term FSRU Contract

Golar LNG Partners announced that it has executed a 15-year charter with an energy and logistics company for the provision of an FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit) and related services in the Atlantic Basin. The charter provides the Partnership with the flexibility to nominate either the Golar Spirit or the Golar Freeze to service the contract provided that the nominated FSRU satisfies certain technical specifications ahead of project start-up, which is expected in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Cheniere Signs 15-year LNG Supply Pact with Trafigura

U.S. natural gas producer Cheniere Energy Inc said on Tuesday Singapore-based commodity trader Trafigura Pte Ltd would buy about 1 million tonnes of natural gas per year from its unit for 15 years, starting 2019. The agreement with Cheniere Marketing, LLC would help the Houston-based company to fund its expansion plans, Chief Executive Jack Fusco said. The company has been expanding its presence in Asia to benefit from the rising demand for liquefied natural gas from the region.

Overhaul Of U.S. Natural Gas Export Review Process

The Obama administration on Thursday announced a major overhaul of its review process for U.S. liquefied natural gas exports, a change that would benefit companies with strong financial backing for their projects. Under the proposal, the Department of Energy would no longer issue conditional approvals of projects. Instead, the department would decide whether an LNG export project is in the national interest only after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or another agency, had issued a final environmental review. The action would shift emphasis from the department's conditional approval, placing the onus on FERC. The department said that by waiting until the environmental review is completed…
