Delta-shaped Foundation for Giant Floating Wind Turbines Gets ABS Approval

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has approved in principle the Bassoe D-Floater, a floating offshore wind turbine foundation.It is said that the Bassoe D-Floater foundations will be able to handle 15 megawatt offshore turbines, which will be among the world's largest. Apart from prototypes being tested onshore, there are no 15 MW turbines installed offshore as of yet. Longship Orders Four Vessels from Atlas Shipyard

Groningen-based shipping company Longship said it has ordered a series of four "ultra-low" emission 8,600 TDW vessels from Atlas Shipyard in Turkey, with the first unit to be delivered in spring 2024Based on a new ship design developed by Longship with Dutch naval architect Ankerbeer BV, the vessles will reduce emissions and be compliant with the EU Stage V standards applicable to non-road mobile machinery (NRMM). Edda Wind Takes Delivery of Hydrogen-ready SOV 'Edda Brint'

Norwegian offshore wind service vessel firm Edda Wind has taken delivery of Edda Brint service operation vessel from Spain's Astilleros Balenciaga. The vessel is the second vessel delivered as part of a seven-vessel newbuilding program.The new Service Operation Vessel (SOV) will start installation of the motion compensated gangway system after leaving the yard in Spain, and start a fifteen-year contract with Vestas at the Seagreen Offshore wind farm in Scotland in January 2023. ā€œThe delivery of Edda Brint is a further evidence of Edda Winds ability to secure long-term contracts for its fleet.

Gen2 Energy Awards Design Contract for Two Hydrogen Carriers

Norwegian ship designer Sirius Design & Integration has won a contract with Norway-based company Gen2 Energy AS to design two specialized ships for the transport of large quantities of containers with compressed hydrogen.The Gen2 container carriers will be about 190 meters long and will be able to carry 500 40-foot containers."The vessels will be designed with the aim of leaving the least possible climate footprint. Using hydrogen in the propulsion systems of the vessels will be part of the design work.

Bay Shipbuilding to Build Second LNG Bunker Barge for Polaris

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding announced Wednesday it will build a second liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker barge for PNE Marine Holdings, an affiliate of Northstar Terminals subsidiary Polaris New Energy. Maersk Says Port Delays Will Stretch into New Year

Maersk Triples Quarterly Income Despite Lower Container Volumes

OFCO Buys Seven Offshore Support Vessels

Offshore Support and Logistics Services Company (OFCO ā€“ Offshore International), the integrated maritime logistics service provider that is jointly owned by Allianz Marine & Logistics Services (AMLS) and SAFEEN, Abu Dhabi Portsā€™ marine services arm, announced it has acquired seven offshore support vessels, including four anchor handling tugs, a 65-meter landing craft, as well as a supply ship and multipurpose safety standby vessel.Officially launched in January 2021, OFCO provides onshore and offshore integrated logistics solutions, and subsea services.

Grindrod Sells NWK Stake

NorthStar Midstream Forms LNG Marine Transport Firm

NorthStar Midstream, a portfolio company of funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P., has announced the formation of Polaris New Energy (ā€œPNEā€), a marine transportation company focused on the transportation and distribution of liquefied natural gas (LNG) along the coastal and inland waterways of the United States.NorthStar has executed an agreement with Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding to build a 5,400 cubic meter (CBM), with the ability to potentially construct two sister barges, for coastwise transportation of LNG.

Vitol Expands Tanker Fleet

Global energy trader Vitol has agreed to acquire a further 50 percent share of the global asphalt trading company VALT to integrate the asphalt trading business into the company.VALT is the bitumen joint-venture it established with Sargeant Marine in 2016.The Swiss-based company said in a press release that it would acquire the final 50 percent of the joint venture which it established with Sargeant Marine in 2016. This means, on transaction completion, Vitol will own 100 percent of VALT.The acquisition will make Vitol a leader in the trading, storage and marine transportation of asphalt products around the world, with a dedicated fleet of eleven specialised vessels.Volumes are circa 1.4 million metric tons of asphalt per annumā€¦

CMA CGM to Continue its Development Strategy

Maersk Line announced the opening of a new container depot at Nexus Industrial Estate in Altona, Australia, officially opened by Victorian Minister for Ports and Major Projects, the Hon. David Hodgett MP. Through taking over a 5ha facility, Maersk Line said it has become the anchor tenant at Salta Propertiesā€™ 40ha Nexus Industrial Intermodal Terminal at Altona. Salta Properties is developing two Nexus Industrial Intermodal Terminals, one in Altona and the second is a larger 180ha site at Dandenong South, which will open in the coming months.
