HHLA Estonia Names Riia Sillave New CEO

The container and multipurpose terminal HHLA TK Estonia, the subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), said that Riia Sillave has taken over as the  new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from 15 March 2020.The 46-year-old Estonian, who studied business administration at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, has a wealth of experience in executive and management roles, including in the German automotive industry.Her most recent position was as CEO of Rail Baltic Estonia, the state-owned development company for the € 1.6 billion Rail Baltica railway project co-financed by the EU.According to a statement, she succeeds Vladimir Popov, who is leaving the Group.

HHLA Meets Targets

German logistics and transportation company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) said that it has achieved targets for the year as the revenue and operating result (EBIT) increase with moderate increase in container throughput and significant rise in transport volume.The Group revenue increased by 6.8 percent to € 1.38 billion in the 2019 financial year (previous year: € 1.29 billion). The Group’s operating result (EBIT) of  € 222 million (previous year: € 204 million) grew by 8.8 percent.The listed Port Logistics subgroup said that In total, 7.6 million standard containers (TEU) were handled at HHLA’s container terminals in the 2019 financial year.

Hapag-Lloyd, HHLA Form Ties

German international shipping and container transportation company Hapag-Lloyd AG and compatriot logistics and transportation company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), will be continuing their close cooperation in Hamburg for another five years.On the basis of this decision, both companies will now be able to make necessary investments and boost their overall competitiveness, said a joint press release.Both parties have also agreed to intensify their collaboration on sustainability-related issues. HHLA Reports 8.3% Growth in Revenue

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, HHLA, the company that operates three out of four of Hamburg’s container terminals, continued its positive performance in the first nine months of 2019.The total revenue was 1.04 billion euros, an increase of 8.3 percent, said the German logistics and transportation company.The operating result (EBIT) improved strongly by € 19.3 million, or 12.4 percent, to € 175.4 million. The positive effects of the initial application of IFRS 16 in the EBIT amounted to approximately € 10.6 million. HHLA Receives New Container Gantry Cranes

German logistics and transportation company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has announced that it has taken delivery of three new container gantry cranes for its Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) in Hamburg port.According to a press release, this will provide HHLA with additional capacities for handling ultra-large container vessels with a cargo volume of 23,000 standard containers (TEU) and more.The new gantry cranes manufactured by ZPMC will replace three smaller units at CTB, which have already been dismantled.The three container gantry cranes arrived at their temporary berth at Athabaskakai on board the special ship “Zhen Hua 27” after a journey of almost eight weeks.

HHLA Group Revenue Up 9.6 %

German logistics and transportation company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) said that it has closed the first half of 2019 with rising revenue and results, despite a challenging market environment.Container throughput increased moderately, due in particular to the successful integration of the Estonian terminal operator HHLA TK Estonia, which was acquired last year. A significant rise in container transport was achieved, said a press release.In conjunction with a strong increase in revenue in the Logistics segment and a once again moderate increase in revenue from property management, this led to total revenue of € 693.7 million (+ 9.6 %).

RoPax Ferry Finbo Cargo Enters Muuga Port

The Estonian terminal operator HHLA TK Estonia is strengthening its position as a RoRo hub in the Baltic region.The wholly owned subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) said in a press release that the Finnish ferry company Eckerö Line recently began connecting the port of Muuga, where HHLA TK Estonia operates a multi-function terminal, with Vuosaari in Finland. Twice daily, the RoPax ferry Finbo Cargo enters the port of Muuga, which is about 20 kilometres east of the Estonian capital, Tallinn. On the Finnish side, Vuosaari – located in the east of Helsinki – is served.The focus of the new ferry connection is on truck and trailer traffic, though passengers with cars will also be transported.

Chinese VP Visits Hamburg Terminal

China’s Vice President Wang Qishan visited the HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT) at the Port of Hamburg.Wang was greeted by the Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), Angela Titzrath, Hamburg’s First Mayor, Dr Peter Tschentscher, and representatives of the Chinese container shipping company Cosco Shipping Lines. Wang headed a 40-strong party of high-ranking Chinese government officials, and the terminal operator said the visit emphasizes Hamburg’s importance as a global trade gateway.The largest container vessels of Chinese shipping company Cosco Shipping Lines are handled at the facility of Container Terminal Tollerort every week. On Thursday, for instance, the Cosco Shipping Aries was docked at the CTT quayside.

HHLA's Earnings Up in Q1 2019

German terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) revenue increases by 10.3 % in the first quarter of 2019, despite a challenging market environment, said the company.Container throughput increased slightly, partly due to the successful integration of the Estonian terminal operator HHLA TK Estonia last year. Extremely positive performance in container transport and property management led to a revenue of € 347.6 million (+ 10.3 %).The operating result (EBIT) was far above the level of last year, increasing by € 11.8 million or 24.5 % to € 59.7 million. HHLA Strengthens Intermodal Network

Metrans AS, a subsidiary of terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has ordered ten Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility Czech Republic.The locomotives will be built at Siemens Mobility’s factory in Munich-Allach, and deliveries are scheduled from the end of 2019 until spring 2020. HHLA Revenue, Profit Rise

German port operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) increased its Group revenue by 3 percent to EUR 1.29 billion in the 2018 financial year (previous year: EUR 1.25 billion). The Group’s operating result (EBIT) of EUR 204 million (previous year: EUR 173 million) represents an increase of 18 percent.In total, 7.3 million standard containers (TEU) were handled at HHLA’s container terminals in the 2018 financial year. Compared to 7.2 million TEU in the previous year, this equates to an increase of 1.9 percent.Container throughput at the three container terminals in Hamburg remained at the high level achieved in the previous year, while throughput at the international HHLA container terminals in Odessa (Ukraine) and Tallinn (Estonia) increased.

Hamburg Port Completes Rail Terminal Expansion

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has completed a project to expand the rail facilities at its Container Terminal Burchardkai in the Port of Hamburg.Two extra tracks and two new rail gantry cranes have been added to the rail terminal at the Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB), which was one of the largest terminals in Europe even before this expansion. HHLA Transports Ship Propeller for Hyundai Supreme

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) loaded the biggest ship propeller in the world onto a vessel. The “HHLA IV” floating crane brought the gigantic 110-tonne object to the port of Waltershof, where it was hoisted onto the “Hyundai Supreme” container ship.It was the most powerful ship propeller to have ever been lifted by the hook of a HHLA floating crane. Eco-friendly Power for Container Ships in Hamburg Port

Port of Hamburg is taking a further step toward improving air quality at its port. Innovative technology developed right here in the city is set to enable large and very large container ships to switch off their auxiliary diesel supplies during lay time and instead draw the power they need for on-board operations from a new kind of mobile generator.Becker Marine Systems, Hapag-Lloyd AG and Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) have been testing the new technology as part of a joint pilot project since the start of the year. Technology supplier Becker Marine Systems developed the mobile power generator, then partnered with Hapag-Lloyd and HHLA for the test phase.

Kalmar and HHLA in Straddle Carrier Pact

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded a deal with Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), the leading European port and transport logistics group, to supply a total of 10 new straddle carriers.This brings the total number of Kalmar straddle carriers ordered by HHLA in the last two years to 30, further demonstrating the strong relationship with Kalmar and the company's commitment to Kalmar equipment. HHLA Completes Acquisition of Estonian Transiidikeskuse

Germany’s Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has completed the acquisition of Estonia’s largest terminal operator, Transiidikeskuse AS (TK). The last conditions that the sales contract dated 26 March 2018 was subject to were recently fulfilled, resulting in all shares in Transiidikeskuse AS being transferred to HHLA International GmbH. As a result, the transaction has now been completed. HHLA’s Container Transporters Run on Green Energy

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) increases efforts to improve the city’s air quality. Container transporters powered by lithium-ion batteries will move the containers at HHLA Container Terminal Alternwerder (CTA) between ships and the yard in future. HHLA Records Strong Earnings

German Shipper Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) recorded significant year-on-year growth in its key performance indicators in the first half of 2017. Group revenue rose by almost 9 percent to EUR 622.8 million (USD 736.24 million). While the Group’s operating result (EBIT) climbed by approximately 48 percent to € 98.8 million, the Port Logistics subgroup’s EBIT grew by just over 54 percent to € 90.6 million. This was primarily attributable to higher earnings in the Container segment due to an increase in volumes as well as to the successfully completed restructuring in the Logistics segment, which let to one-off expenses in the first half of 2016.

Hapag-Lloyd's Newest Ship Named Guayaquil Express

Hapag-Lloyd held a naming ceremony in Hamburg for the Guayaquil Express, the fourth of five newbuildings in its 10,500 TEU class. The patron is Christine Kühne, wife of Klaus-Michael Kühne, majority shareholder and Honorary Chairman of Kühne + Nagel International AG. Kalmar's Straddle Carriers for HHLA CTB

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has secured an order for nine diesel-electric straddle carriers from the leading European port and transport logistics group Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA). The order was booked in Cargotec's 2016 first quarter order intake, with delivery taking place during the fourth quarter of 2016. Established in 1968, HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) is the largest and oldest facility for container handling in the Port of Hamburg. The terminal has an annual capacity of more than 3 million TEU. The order continues a long tradition of innovation and collaboration with Kalmar.
