Seaspan Shipyards Welcomes MacLeod as VP

Dun & Bradstreet Take Christy on Board

Dun & Bradstreet nnounced today the appointment of Cindy Christy, president and chief operating officer of Asurion Corporation, to the company's Board of Directors, effective immediately. In this role, Christy will share her broad experience and functional expertise with management in the areas of product development, operations, compliance, market research, management, strategy, and sales. LTE Deployment Launched in the Gulf of Mexico

Industrial LTE wireless broadband services provider Infrastructure Networks, Inc. (INET) is deploying a pilot LTE system in the Gulf of Mexico. INET said its pilot deployment will be used to demonstrate the capabilities of industrial LTE wireless broadband service and coverage when coupled with 700 MHz spectrum that INET has leased from Verizon Wireless under the LTE in Rural America program. The pilot will be open to certain companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico that have expressed an interest in using the network for testing and planning larger LTE rollouts. Tarig Anani , CEO of Infrastructure Networks, said, "The pilot deployment phase of our LTE rollout will give customers an opportunity to test and preplan their own LTE deployments in lockstep with Infrastructure Networks.

Strong Support for Frost & Sullivan 'Trail Charity Run'

Held on 23 August 2014, Frost & Sullivan Singapore’s 9th edition of the ‘Frost the Trail’ run saw 165 teams, 95 individuals and over 750 runners gather at the MacRitchie Reservoir Park to run in support of the underprivileged. ‘Frost the Trail’ saw both avid and novice runners hitting the winding trails of MacRitchie in the cool morning air amidst lush greenery. Runners participated in one of two categories – the 5 km team race as well as the 10 km individual race. In total, Frost the Trail Singapore 2014 helped raised more than SGD140k, with 100% of proceeds going directly to this year’s adopted charity, Bright Hill Evergreen Home. Bright Hill Evergreen Home is a 250 bed, accredited, 100 per cent non-profit Nursing Home for the destitute and poor.

DP World Raises $1B

DP World took advantage of strong market conditions and scarcity value to raise a $1 billion convertible bond with a ten year lifespan on Thursday, in order to fund growth opportunities and diversify its funding sources. DP World to Price US$1-Bln Convertible Bond Issue

Dubai's DP World plans to raise $1 billion with a convertible bond issue of 10 years duration on Thursday to fund growth opportunities and diversify its funding sources, the Dubai-based ports operator said in a statement. The issue is a rare example of an international convertible bond from a Middle Eastern issuer, but comes at a time of spiking convertible issuance among European corporates. DP World's debut convertible issue is expected to pay a coupon in a range of 1.5 to 2 percent, and will have a conversion premium between 35 and 40 percent above the reference share price, the bourse filing said. The reference price will be set according to the volume-weighted average price between the start and close of trading of DP World shares on Thursday.

TE Subcom, Alcatel-Lucen t Extend Subsea Comms Pact

TE SubCom, a TE Connectivity Ltd. company, and Alcatel-Lucent announced an expansion to their joint maintenance program for submarine optical communication links throughout the Pacific basin. The Pacific End-to-End Maintenance Solution boosts the companies’ ability to maintain and repair undersea cables in the northern Pacific region, to support current telecommunications clients and other potential customers seeking marine services. Submarine cable networks connect countries and continents, carrying vast amounts of data traffic, including video. They are developed for high reliability over their 25-year design life. However, cables can be damaged by external forces such as earthquakes, hurricanes, intense fishing activity and ship anchors.

ASA Member Recovers Air France Flight 447 Black Boxes

Arlington, VA – The expertise of an American Salvage Association (ASA) member culminated in locating and recovering the “black boxes” of Air France Flight 447, which crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on June 1, 2009, killing all 216 passengers and 12 aircrew on a flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. The black box recoveries took place in 3,900 meters of water (msw) and were made possible using the ASA member company-designed and operated Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). The recoveries were completed in a very short period of time given the technical complexities of operating in extreme water depths. The ROV located the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) within 12 hours on its first dive on April 27. Unfortunately, the critical Memory Unit had separated from the chassis of the FDR.

Wilhelmsen Ships Service Saudi Arabia has been awarded a three year warehousing and logistics contract in Dammam by Alcatel Lucent Technologies. The contract is expected to further the ongoing development of the business relationship between Wilhelmsen Ships Services and Alcatel-Lucent across the Gulf region. “This logistics contract with Alcatel-Lucent will serve to raise the market awareness in Saudi Arabia of Wilhelmsen Ships Service as a quality logistics service provider” says Russell Dinwoodie of Wilhelmsen Ships Service Dammam.

General Maritime Corporation announced that it has appointed William "Bill" Viqueira as its new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Viqueira is expected to join General Maritime on Monday May 5, 2003 and will replace James Christodoulou, who will leave the Company to pursue other interests. Mr. Christodoulou is expected to remain as a consultant with the Company in order to assist with the transition. Peter C.
