Robert Allan to Design More OSV Icebreakers

Robert Allan Ltd. was awarded a contract for two new designs of icebreaking OSVs for use in the North Caspian Sea. The contract was awarded to the Vancouver naval architects by the Turkish-based Palmali Group of Companies, and the vessels will be built by Besiktas Shipyard of Altinova, Turkey. Upon delivery the vessels will be chartered to the Lukoil Oil Company of Astrakhan, Russia. Three vessels in total are to be built and delivered by the end of 2014. Each of the new vessel designs will be 80 meters in length and specifically designed for operation in the very shallow, ice covered waters encountered in the Caspian. The vessels will meet the rules of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

J. Ray McDermott’s Caspian subsidiary has completed installation of offshore facilities at the Yuri Korchagin field for OOO LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft (LUKOIL), a subsidiary of OAO LUKOIL Oil Company. The Yuri Korchagin field is the first of the North Caspian fields in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea to be developed by LUKOIL and brought commercially on-stream. The field development requires a number of major offshore facilities including an ice-resistant fixed processing platform (LSP-1) and adjacent living quarters (LSP-2) joined together by a 243-foot bridge.

Asia’s First Two Arctic Icebreakers

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine) has completed Asia’s first two icebreakers, built for one of the harshest marine frontiers on Earth, the Arctic sea for client, LUKOIL-Kaliningradmorneft (LUKOIL). Mr Charles Foo, Chairman of Keppel Singmarine, said “This is the first time that icebreakers meant for the Arctic region have been built in the tropics. The second vessel was named Varandey by Mrs Lyudmila Velikova, wife of Mr Victor Velikov, Deputy General-Director of LUKOIL at a Russian-themed ceremony at Marina at Keppel Bay today.

Keppel Singmarine Secures Contract for FSO Vessel

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine) has clinched a $87.2m contract to build a Floating Storage Offloading system (FSO) unit for LUKOIL –NIZHNEVOLZHSKNEFT (LUKOIL-NVN), a subsidiary of the Russian oil company, LUKOIL Oil Company. The 28,000 tons (dwt) Ice-Class FSO is a new design by Marine Technology Development Pte Ltd (MTDTM), the design arm of Keppel Singmarine. The MTD13028FSO-IC FSO is designed with provisions for forecastle deck structure for single point mooring, with double bottom and double sides, with habitable deckhouse and Cargo Oil Control Station (COCS), machinery space and helipad in the aft of the vessel. She is meant for uninterrupted services in receiving crude oil from a stationary production platform through single buoy mooring system…

Keppel Secures Contracts for Icebreakers

An artist impression of the icebreaker and the ice breaking supply ship, which Keppel Singmarine is building for LUKOIL. The vessels are due for delivery between end 2007 & mid 2008. Keppel Singmarine has clinched contracts worth a total of $164.3m for two vessels from LUKOIL – Kaliningradmorneft (LUKOIL), a subsidiary of Russian oil company, LUKOIL Oil Company. The parent company of Keppel Singmarine, Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has also signed an agreement with LUKOIL for further co-operation in potential newbuilding of offshore rigs, special purpose offshore facilities and vessels to service LUKOIL's offshore oil terminal vessels at Keppel O&M shipyards around the world. The vessels will be delivered to their owner between end 2007 and mid 2008.
