Havila Extends Niche Deal with Maersk

Havila Shipping ASA has seen Maersk Oil & Gas (MOG) extend an option for a vessel, allowing the company to avoid the weak North Sea spot market for 12 more months. Maersk Oil and Gas Company declared the first of three one year options for the Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) Havila Fortune. The vessel was first contracted by Maersk in May 2014 and started its contract on August 1, 2014. With this first of three extensions declared the vessel will remain with Maersk Oil until August 1, 2016. The contract includes a walk to walk system operated by a supplier. Havila has a fleet of 22 vessels, primarily made up of AHTS and PSVs. Meanwhile, Shell has declared first optional period of one year for the PSV vessel Havila Borg currently working in West Africa.

Sembcorp Wins US$236-Million Jack-up Rig Contract

Singapore's Sembcorp Marine says that its subsidiary Jurong Shipyard has secured a US$236 million (about S$296 million) contract to build a high specification, tailor-made jack-up rig for new customer Hercules North Sea Ltd. Scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2016, the jack-up rig will be built based on the Friede & Goldman JU 2000E design which has enhanced features suitable for UK operations. The new rig is designed to operate in waters of 400 feet and drill to depths of 30,000 feet. Itwill be equipped with 2,000,000 lbs drilling capacity, 6,000 barrels mud capacity, 28,000 kips preload capacity for the legs and 150-man accommodation capacity. Upon delivery, it will be chartered out to Maersk Oil and Gas for deployment in the UK sector of the North Sea. Mr. John T.

Keppel, Seafox Partner to Build Jackups

The accommodation jackup rig with Plug & Abandonment (P&A) features will be based on Keppel’s KFELS J Class design which is suited for the harsh environment of the Norwegian North Sea. Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has signed an engineering services agreement with Workfox B.V, a subsidiary of the Seafox Group (Seafox), to embark on an engineering study of a purpose-built accommodation jackup rig with well intervention and P&A features.

Maersk to Sell Oil, Gas Exploration Licenses

Maersk Oil and Gas, a unit of Denmark's AP Moller-Maersk A/S will sell its exploration licenses in a number of countries and concentrate its activities in the Kerr McGee operations in the North Sea, a financial daily reported. The newspaper said a prospectus by investment bank Tristone Capital lists Maersk licenses in Morocco, Surinam, and the German part of the North Sea as being up for sale. It also writes Maersk is in talks to sell part of an exploration license in Turkmenistan to the Indian company OMEL, a joint venture between Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd.
