Udo Lange Named CEO of Stolt-Nielsen Limited

Stolt-Nielsen said that, after 23 years as Chief Executive Officer, Niels G. Stolt-Nielsen will step down from his role as CEO on September 1, 2023, and will assume the role of Chairman of the Board of Stolt-Nielsen Limited. He will be succeeded as CEO by Udo Lange.Lange, who will join Stolt-Nielsen as Chief Executive Officer on September 1, 2023, has more than 20 years of experience in the international trade industry, with expertise in freight forwarding, express and parcel logistics and airline catering.

Golar LNG Appoints New CFO

Golar LNG said on Tuesday it has appointed Callum Mitchell-Thomson as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective April 20.In October 2019, Golar LNG announced its current CFO, Graham Robjohns, would step down. Robjohns will remain in his current position until April 20, 2020 and will leave Golar on April 30, 2020.Robjohns' successor, Mitchell-Thomson, has 21 years of experience advising energy, utility and infrastructure companies on M&A and capital markets transactions while working for JP Morgan.

Russia Builds its First LNG Passenger Ship

Russia's Gazprom announced the keel-laying for the country’s first passenger ship to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) was held at the Zelenodolsk shipyard.A Gazprom delegation headed by Vyacheslav Mikhalenko, Member of the Management Committee, Head of Department, took part in the keel-laying ceremony for Chaika LNG, the first passenger ship in Russia to be powered by LNG.The Chaika LNG leisure and sightseeing boat (motor ship) is intended for passenger voyages, including via tourist routes. The vessel, which can accommodate at least 170 people, is expected to be launched as early as this year.The Republic of Tatarstan is a unique location from a logistics standpoint, and it has robust transport potential in terms of cutting-edge industrial technologies.

Gazprom, Kogas for Tighter LNG Cooperation

DNV GL Can Issue IECRE Certificates Now

The international accredited registrar and classification society DNV GL has become the world’s first certification body approved to issue IECRE - International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) System for Certification to Standards relating to Equipment for use in Renewable Energy applications - certificates for project certification.The Norway-headquartered organization now able to conduct conformity assessments as official Renewables Energy Certification Body (RECB) relating to project certification, project design certification and site suitability evaluation."DNV GL has been unanimously accepted as the first Renewables Energy Certification Body (RECB) for project certification under the international certification scheme IECRE OD-502.

Gazprom to Start Gas Supply to China

The pipe-laying vessel  Pioneering Spirit pipelaying vessel completed the construction of the offshore section of the TurkStream gas pipeline in the Black Sea. China to Develop Multi Billion Dollar Deep Sea Port In Myanmar

China and Myanmar are moving ahead with a China-backed deep-sea port project in Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) , 250 miles northwest of Yangon.The framework agreement was signed by Myanmar's Deputy Minister of Planning and Finance and Chairperson of the Management Committee of the Kyaukphyu SEZ U Set Aung and President of CITIC Group Chang Zhenming, stated Chinese state media.This is the third port in India’s vicinity. Gazprom, Shell Discuss LNG Projects

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Maarten Wetselaar, Member of the Executive Committee of Royal Dutch Shell, took place in St. Petersburg. The meeting addressed relevant aspects of strategic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to joint efforts in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. The parties discussed the construction project for the third train of the LNG plant on Sakhalin Island and the progress of the Joint Study Framework Agreement for the Baltic LNG project. The meeting also focused on the Nord Stream 2 project. Gazprom and Shell are jointly engaged in the Sakhalin II project, which includes Russia's only active LNG plant. The Sakhalin II operator is Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd.

Nord Stream 2 Makes Good Progress

The Gazprom Management Committee took note of the information on the progress of the Nord Stream 2 project. The meeting commended the progress made on Nord Stream 2, stressing that the project was going according to the approved schedule. In early September, the project operator Nord Stream 2 AG signed a contract with a subsidiary of Wasco Group for concrete weight coating, logistics, and pipe storage. At the end of that month, first pipes manufactured by United Metallurgical Company and Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant were delivered to the coating plant in Finland. In late October, first pipes produced by Germany’s Europipe GmbH arrived at the coating facility in Germany.

Gazprom, PetroVietnam Ink Multiple Deals

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), signed today in Moscow a number of documents to strengthen cooperation between the companies. The signing ceremony was attended by Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV). the Addendum to extend the Cooperation Agreement on personnel training. According to the Memorandum of Understanding on the development of new oil and gas projects, the parties plan to examine further opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of hydrocarbon prospecting, exploration and development.

Hanjin Shipping Secures $45 mln to Rescue Stranded Cargo

Parent group transfers $36 mln to troubled shipper. It may cost over $150 mln to unload stranded cargo. The chairman of Hanjin Group transferred 40 billion won ($36 million) to Hanjin Shipping on Tuesday to help unload cargo stranded on the troubled shipper's vessels, a spokesman said, but regulators warned securing further funds could take "considerable time". The parent of Hanjin Shipping pledged last week to raise 100 billion won to help rescue cargo in the wake of the collapse of the world's seventh-biggest container shipper, including the 40 billion won from Chairman Cho Yang-ho. About $9 million pledged by Choi Eun-young, a former chairwoman of Hanjin Shipping, has also come in, the shipper said.

Changes in Statoil’s Top Deck

Jannicke Nilsson has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) in Statoil ASA. She takes over the role from Anders Opedal, who will lead the development of Statoil’s growing and increasingly important operations in Brazil as new country manager. Jannicke Nilsson will assume her new responsibilities on 1. December this year, Anders Opedal will assume his responsibilities 15 January 2017. Nilsson will report to President and CEO Eldar Sætre with her office location being Stavanger, while Opedal will report to Lars Christian Bacher, executive vice president Development & Production International. His office location will be Rio de Janeiro. Current Brazil country manager Pål Eitrheim is appointed new chief procurement officer.
