2023 a Record Setting Year for Singapore

Chee Hong Tat, Singapore’s Acting Minister for Transport, announced a record year in 2023 at a Singapore Maritime Foundation New Year Conversations event.The annual vessel arrival tonnage in the Port of Singapore crossed three billion gross tonnage (GT) for the first time, increasing by 9.4% over 2022 and setting a high of 3.09 billion GT in 2023. Kitron Signs MASS Nodes Deal with Magseis

Scandinavia's Offshore/Marine electronics manufacturing services company Kitron and Norwegian geophysical company Magseis ASA has entered into an agreement to manufacture Magseis' MASS (Marine Autonomous Seismic System) nodes to support their growth.Magseis, founded in 2009,  is specialising in OBS - Ocean Bottom Seismic - acquisition. Magseis has developed their proprietary, autonomous MASS nodes and fully automated handling system, which is used to acquire high quality seismic data for clients. The OBS market is in steady growth and the demand for OBS nodes is increasing.Based on Kitron's experience and capacity, Magseis has awarded Kitron a contract to supply electronics, high-level assembly and system testing of the MASS nodes.

Twin Disc Acquires Veth Propulsion

U.S. based power transmission technology and equipment manufacturer Twin Disc, Inc. announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Netherlands based marine propulsion products supplier Veth Propulsion Holding, B.V. and its wholly-owned subsidiaries.Twin Disc said the purchase price is approximately $58.6 million plus net cash, with potential adjustments based on Veth Propulsion’s working capital as of the closing date, and will be financed through a combination of cash and new debt facilities.

Australia’s Largest High-speed Lobster Boat Delivered

Dongara Marine has delivered Australia’s largest capacity high-speed lobster boat, the 85-foot Holdfast.With capacity for 210 baskets or 6.2 metric tons of live lobster, Holdfast is the fourth 20+ meter lobster boat in as many years to be designed by Southerly Designs, joining Ohana (2015), Daydawn (2016), and Gambler (2017).Although not the lead builder for the Daydawn and Gambler projects, Dongara Marine played a key role as the manufacturer of their resin-infused composite wheelhouses.

Canbank Venture Capital Fund Limited (CVCFL) has picked up approx 5% minority Equity stake in Anand Teknow Aids Engineering India Ltd, a Rs 300 crore closely held Public Limited company manufacturing hi-tech, engineering products for the Oil & Gas sector in India & Gulf. CVCFL has invested Rs 16 crore which will be utilized by the company for expansion of its ball valve plant at Talawade near Pune in India. Anand Teknow (ATAEI) has established itself as a leading engineering company in the last 4 to 5 years specifically in the field of manufacture & supply of Ball Valves to Oil & Gas sector. TRIYARDS Get US$77-million Order for Offshore Unit

Since the company began operations in 2005, TRIYARDS has been focusing on the construction of technologically advanced, high-specification, customised offshore support vessels that are larger and more sophisticated in terms of engine capacity, bollard pull and navigational equipment. The company operates out of its two yards in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City (TRIYARDS SSY) and Vung Tau (TRIYARDS SOFEL), as well as another in Houston, Texas, USA (TRIYARDS Houston). TRIYARDS Houston fabricates offshore equipment including cranes, A-frames and winches, which can be installed on the units and vessels built in the Vietnam yards. TRIYARDS SOFEL, the vessel construction yard, was established along Vietnam’s Dinh River at Dong Xuyen Industrial Park in 2009.

A supplier to Raytheon IDS for the past 7 years, Federal Electronics was honored with the award for the company's exemplary performance and contribution to the success of Raytheon IDS and its customers. Federal Electronics Vice President Ed Evangelista and Account Manager Chris Heywood were presented with the award in a ceremony at Raytheon IDS in Tewksbury, Mass. Pact Signed for Drydock Project

Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of finance and national economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council, signed on behalf of the Sultanate's government while Nam San-tae, Daewoo chief executive officer and president, signed on behalf of his company. As per the 10-year agreement, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. Ltd, will provide administrative and technical support, transfer of modern technology used for ship repairing and maintenance of the dockyard project in Duqum. During its management of the project, the Korean company will prepare a work plan on marketing the services of the dry dock yard in Duqum to various international shipping companies…

Lockheed Martin to Provide Sensor Array for ADUUV

The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin a $10.6 million contract modification to integrate a sensor array capable of three-dimensional (3D) obstacle detection and classification, VHF communication and 3D bathymetry into the Navy's Advanced Development Unmanned Undersea Vehicle (ADUUV). Under the contract modification, Lockheed Martin will provide engineering and manufacturing services to integrate the Littoral Precision Underwater Mapping Array (LPUMA) sensor into the ADUUV. LPUMA is produced by the Applied Research Laboratory in Austin, Texas. The first phase includes the design, fabrication and testing of a single ADUUV to support risk reduction for the Mission Reconfigurable UUV (MRUUV). Work will be performed in Riviera Beach, FL, and is expected to be completed by September 2007.
