Group Set Up to Study Onboard Carbon Capture Technologies for Shipping Industry

Ship classification organization ABS said Tuesday it had joined an elite working group comprised of global maritime leaders to study onboard carbon capture technologies.The collaborative project brings together ABS, Diana Shipping Services S.A., Equinor ASA, GasLog LNG Services Ltd., Maran Gas Maritime Inc., Minerva Gas Inc., Neptune Lines Shipping and Managing Enterprises S.A., Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA), Prime Tanker Management Inc., Solvang ASA, Springfield Shipping Co.

DSME Delivers Excelerate's 10th FSRU

South Korean shipbuilding firm Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has earlier this month delivered a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) to Excelerate Energy.The FSRU, named the Excelerate Sequoia, is Excelerate Energy's tenth FSRU vessel. All ten FSRUs were built by DSME.The vessel has a storage capacity of 173,400 cubic meters and is capable of operating as both an FSRU and a fully tradable LNG carrier, Excelerate Energy said. In September of last year, Excelerate and Maran Gas Maritime Inc. (MGM) signed a five-year bareboat charter agreement (BBC) for the FSRU.

Partners to Expand Pakistan LNG Inport Terminal

Excelerate Energy announced it has agreed with partner Engro Elengy Terminal Ltd. (EETL) to expand the EETL liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Port Qasim, Pakistan.Under the heads of agreement (HOA), Excelerate will exchange its existing floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Exquisite with a newbuild FSRU, Hull 2477, which is currently under construction at South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard and due to be delivered in April 2020.

Daewoo Wins Aggelikousis Order for 3 Ships

South Korean shipbuilding major Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co (DSME) said that it has secured a US$380 million order to build three vessels from Angelicoussis Shipping Group (ASGL), the Greek provider of marine shipping services.DSME will build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for Maran Gas Maritime Inc. and two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) for Maran Tankers Management Inc.Maran Gas Maritime and Maran Tankers Management are subsidiaries of Angelicoussis Shipping Group.According to a report in Yonhap, the LNG carrier will be guilt by DSME with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters will be delivered by the first quarter of 2022.Two 318…

DSME to Build LNG Carrier for Maran Gas

South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co (DSME) said  that it has secured a deal to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from Maran Gas Maritime Inc.DSME is expected to deliver the 174,000-cubic meter LNG ship during the first quarter of 2022 to  Maran Gas, the gas shipping unit of Angelicoussis Shipping Group, said a report by Yonhap.The deal is estimated to be worth some US$188 million, industry sources said. Since 1994, Daewoo Shipbuilding has secured orders from the Greek shipping firm to build a total of 105 ships.So far this year, DSME secured a combined USD 1.3 billion worth of orders. Golar FSRU Wins LNG Croatia Project

State-owned LNG Croatia has selected Golar Power, a joint venture between Golar LNG and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners,  to deliver a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for the nation's first liquefied natural gas import facility.Golar Power was picked from three bidders, including Mitsui O.S.K. Wärtsilä, Maran Gas Extends Maintenance Contract

Wärtsilä and Maran Gas Maritime (MGM) extend their current cooperation with a five-year maintenance agreement covering the maintenance of MGM's 21 TFDE (tri-fuel diesel electric) LNG carriers that are equipped with Wärtsilä 50DF engines. Maran Gas Maritime Inc. is the LNG shipping unit of the Angelicoussis Shipping Group and one of the major players in the worldwide LNG transportation. The group company operates a fleet of approximately 130 merchant vessels globally with 33 of these being LNG vessels - 21 of which are TFDE.

Avance Gas Holdings Expands VLGC Fleet

Avance Gas Holding Ltd. adds Transpetrol Gas Holdings Ltd. Stolt-Nielsen Limited announce that Avance Gas Holding Ltd. (AGHL), a joint venture between Sungas Holdings Ltd. and 
Stolt-Nielsen Gas Ltd. has reached an agreement with Transpetrol Shipping Ltd. (Transpetrol) whereby Transpetrol will sell its two very large gas carriers (VLGC) to AGHL in return for cash and 33 1/3 equity ownership of AGHL. It is expected that the two new ships, Prospect and Progress, both delivered in 2009, will join the AGHL fleet in early July. With Prospect and the Progress, the Avance Gas fleet will consist of nine VLGCs, including the two ships to be acquired from Maran Gas Maritime Inc. The Avance Gas fleet trades mainly in the spot market, loading in the Middle East for destinations primarily in Asia.

RasGas Names Eighth LNG Ship

RasGas has named its eighth LNG ship Simaisma at a ceremony held at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Company, South Korea. RasGas has a long-term charter agreement with the Maran Gas Maritime Inc and Qatar Gas Transport Company, which owns the vessel. Under the terms of the time charter agreement, RasGas will charter the ship for a firm period of 20 years to deliver LNG from its existing and future facilities at Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC) to its growing portfolio of customers around the world. Simaisma is the second vessel to be delivered from the shipyard to the Maran Gas Maritime Inc and Qatar Gas Transport Company consortium. It is slated for delivery from the shipyard on September 1.
