Einshøj Global Chief Strategy Officer, Intellian

Intellian announced the appointment of Søren Einshøj as its new Global Chief Strategy Officer and President. With nearly twenty years in the marine communications industry, Einshøj will lead Intellian’s growth. Based in Oslo, Norway, President and CSO Søren Einshøj will be part of the core leadership within Intellian. Einshøj will be focused on developing and managing strategic alliances and partnerships throughout the industry worldwide. In 2001 on behalf of Telenor, formerly Norwegian PTT, Einshøj founded Marlink, a merger between Telenor owners’ maritime satellite communication unit and the acquired SAIT Communications SA based in Belgium.

ICOM IC-M1V Is World's Smallest

ICOM's newest IC-M1V marine VHF hand held tranceiver is not just an upgraded version of the company's IC-M1. It also offers major breakthroughs that are new to the marine communications industry. Known as the first marine VHF hand held to provide Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery as standard equipment, the IC-M1V also offers five watts of talk power, enabling users (through Li-Ion) 12-14 hours of normal operation without having to recharge. The IC-M1V is also equipped with a submersible speaker-microphone option that plugs into the waterproof jack located on top of the product. A 30 percent larger backlit LCD display reveals alphanumeric channel descriptions for easy channel identification, and an easy to reach, adjustable squelch.

SeaWave Acquires Rydex

SeaWave LLC announced a definitive agreement to acquire the intellectual property and technology assets of Rydex, the Maritime Data Solutions business, headquartered in British Columbia, Canada. This transaction combines two leading suppliers of marine communications services and serves a current customer-base in excess of 2000 vessels. “Combining the collective competencies of SeaWave and Rydex will raise the level of products, service and support for both companies. Customers will be able to choose from an extensive line-up of value added products that will allow services to be tailored to the specific requirements of each customer,” said SeaWave CEO, Don Black.
