Furuno Unveils TZtouchXL With Risk Visualizer And AI Avoidance Route

Marine electronics manufacturer Furuno introduced the NavNet TZtouchXL series, a suite of Multi Function Displays (MFDs) designed to meet the requirements of workboat operators, including ferries and tugboats.The NavNet TZtouchXL series encompasses three large-sized MFDs: the 16” TZT16X, 22” TZT22X, and 24” TZT24X. These MFDs feature super-wide, all-glass displays with exceptional clarity and brightness. The rugged all-glass design is not only functional but also enhances the durability and functionality of the helm.

Navico Names Rae Manager for Canada

Marine electronics manufacturer Navico has appointed Steve Rae to the position of Country Manager for Canada.Based in Vancouver Island, B.C., Rae will be responsible for sales, service and support for the company’s three marine electronics brands, Lowrance, Simrad and B&G. Navico Acquires Naviop

Marine electronics manufacturer Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad and B&G brands, announced it has finalized an agreement to acquire marine monitoring and control systems provider Naviop. Providing the integration framework to capture data from all boating systems, Naviop creates a digital ecosystem on boats outfitted with Simrad, Lowrance and B&G marine electronics, with the multifunction display serving as the hub for complete system control and information. “For years, auto manufacturers have provided consumers with a complete integration solution at their fingertips, and we, as a marine industry have fallen behind the curve to provide the same level of convenience and control,” said Leif Ottosson, Navico CEO.

Raymarine Supports Olympic Inspired Sailing Festival

Marine electronics manufacturer, Raymarine announced its involvement with the all new annual sailing festival, GJW Direct SailFest. Taking place in Weymouth, Dorset on the August bank holiday weekend at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA), SailFest has evolved to become a continuing legacy of the Olympic Games. Commencing Friday, August 23 and running until Monday, August 26, there will be two days of handicap racing on the Olympic waters, with fleet starts for any class set to attract a significant number of boats. On Bank Holiday Monday, the event will culminate in the Raymarine Long Distance Pursuit Race, the winner being the boat that crosses the line first after exactly 2.5 hours of racing.

WASSP Multibeam Sonar Aiding in Rena Salvage

A WASSP Multibeam Sonar is being used by hydrographic surveyors at the grounding of the 236m-cargo vessel MV Rena on the Astrolabe Reef off the coast of New Zealand, to locate lost containers. Marine electronics manufacturer WASSP Ltd, a world leader in multibeam sonar technology has provided one of their WASSP sonar systems for the salvage effort. Linssen Yachts Signs Agreement with Raymarine

One of the Netherlands' oldest and most respected yacht builders, Linssen Yachts, has confirmed an exclusive supply agreement with marine electronics manufacturer Raymarine. The two companies have worked together for a number of years. With the formation of the new Raymarine Nederland subsidiary, Linssen yachts has chosen to sign an exclusive supply agreement stating that it provides additional benefits for both the company and its customers. Linssen Yacht customers are able to personally select from Raymarine’s complete range of marine electronics, from multifunction displays to thermal imaging cameras, autopilots to man overboard safety systems. Yacht owners can now benefit from the new 3-year onboard warranty when the product is registered under Raymarine’s extended warranty scheme.

Apollo II Thermal Camera System

Fort Lauderdale-based marine electronics manufacturer, OceanView, recently launched the Apollo II night vision camera, VEI. The OceanView Apollo II incorporates a thermal imager with its new 2x digital zoom and an ultra-low-light camera in the same 360° pan and tilt housing. The camera also has an on screen camera position locater and a home button. The Apollo II enables the user to see clearly not only in total darkness but also in a wide variety of poor lighting conditions including heavy rain, bright sun and some fog. Now floating debris, channel markers and other vessels are easy to see. With the new LCD controller, the user has fingertip control and a clear view of the simple menu.

Kongsberg Opens in Korea

Kongsberg Maritime Korea (KMK), a wholly owned subsidiary of leading international marine electronics manufacturer Kongsberg Maritime has officially opened the doors of its purpose built new headquarters in Jungkwan, northeast of Busan, South Korea. The official opening ceremony took place on December 5, 2007 and was attended by customers and Kongsberg Maritime management in addition to a number of local dignitaries. Starting out with a reception, the building was then officially opened by President of KMK, Mr. Steinar Gran. Speeches by prominent guests followed, such as Norway's Ambassador to Korea, Mr. Didrik Tønseth and the Mayor of Busan, Mr. Nam-Sik Hur.
