Marine Broker Wins P&I Scholarship Internship

Johann von Rantzau has been selected as this year's Robin Travis Scholar following final interviews of candidates in Hamburg, Germany. The scholarship provides a three-month paid internship with transport liability specialist Thomas Miller for executives employed in the shipping, transport or marine insurance sectors in Germany. From 30th September 2013, Johann will be attached to Thomas Miller’s London head office where the businesses managed include the UK P&I Club, the TT Club and ITIC. He will enjoy a tailored programme of placements reflecting his particular business interests.

Braemar Launches New Salvage Support Operation

Incident response and environmental clean-up specialist Braemar Howells and its sister company Braemar (Incorporating The Salvage Association) are to work together to provide a 24-hour global response capability to the world’s shipping and marine insurance sectors. In what is being seen as a key development in the expansion of Braemar’s Technical Services (BTS) division, both companies have formed Braemar Marine Salvage Support Services which will provide on-site distressed cargo management and salvage support services to salvors…

Braemar Launch Global 24-hour Response Marine Salvage Support

Incident response and  environmental clean-up specialist Braemar Howells and its sister company Braemar (Incorporating The Salvage Association) are to work together to provide a 24-hour global response capability to the world’s shipping and marine insurance sectors. In what is being seen as a key development in the expansion of Braemar’s Technical Services (BTS) division, both companies have formed Braemar Marine Salvage Support Services which will provide on-site distressed cargo management and salvage support services to salvors, owners and insurers, together with additional expert technical advisory services from within BTS ranging from resolving LNG operational problems to offshore engineering solutions.

ClassNK Opens First Russian Office

ClassNK opened its first exclusive surveyor office in St. Petersburg on September 14 with a lively reception hosted by ClassNK Chairman and President and Current IACS Vice-Chairman Noboru Ueda. The event was attended by more than 80 guests including executives and representatives from throughout the Russian maritime industry. Among the many prominent dignitaries at the event were His Excellency Ichiro Kawabata, Consul General of Japan in St. Petersburg, IACS Council Chairman Pavel Shikhov, Vladimir Alexandrov, President of the St. Petersburg Shipbuilders Association, and numerous top representatives from academic institutions such as CNIIMF.
