Davie: CTMA Ferry Procurement dogged by Legal Proceedings

The Coopérative de transport maritime et aérien’s (CTMA) procurement effort to purchase a ferry to replace the CTMA Vacancier and the CTMA Voyageur has been thrown into question by a court proceeding which alleges that the former government’s support for the acquisition was tainted with serious procedural irregularities and must be suspended and, ultimately, declared invalid.Last May, the outgoing Liberal government announced that financial support would be granted to CTMA for the acquisition of a new ship.

Four New Crew Boats for Allianz

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered four new Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610 to Allianz Middle East Ship Management. The four vessels will undertake work in the ADMA oil field in Abu Dhabi, providing logistics services and safe crew transfer, as part of a five-year contract awarded to ADNOC LS and ADNOC Offshore. Wärtsilä Launches Acceleration Center in Singapore, Co-Creates IntelliTug

Wärtsilä has opened its purpose-built Acceleration Center in Singapore to promote innovation and collaboration with industry, academia and local partners to strengthen and develop Singapore’s maritime ecosystem. The opening follows an agreement signed between Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Wärtsilä in April 2018 to collaborate in areas of intelligent vessels, connected smart port operations, cyber-physical security, and digital acceleration with start-ups.

UOS Completes Acquisition of UOS Support and Hartmann Offshore

German offshore industry service provider United Offshore Support (UOS) announced that it has completed its acquisition of the commercial and technical-nautical management businesses of both UOS United Offshore Support and Hartmann Offshore.Since the acquisition was announced in July 2018, the management and staff of both companies have been working to bring the two organisations under the UOS brand, which is based in Leer, Germany.UOS is led by Chief Executive Howard Woodcock, who joined the company in August 2018.

Abu Dhabi Marine Services “Safeen”, the marine services subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports, announces the purchase of two new state-of-the-art tugboats from Damen Shipyards Group aimed at supporting the AED 10 billion] expansion of Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi Ports’ flagship deep-water port.The purchase of the DAMEN ASD 2411 tugboats was announced at the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show 2018. Herman Sr. BV Places Order for Damen Shoalbuster

A contract has been signed between Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld and Herman Sr. BV for the building and delivery of a Shoalbuster 2308 S, to be named Teddy. The new vessel will join the five other Damen Shoalbusters currently operated by the company and, with the hull already available from stock, is due for delivery in March / April 2019. This latest addition to the Senior BV fleet will allow the company to expand the services that it offers to the dredging, offshore wind and other sectors.Herman Sr. BV. is a third-generation, family-owned company based in Dordrecht, the Netherlands.

Briggs Marine Acquires Canadian Companies

U.K. based marine services company the Briggs Group announced it has acquired a consortium of three marine companies in Canada: Foreshore Technologies, Balanced Environmental and Ocean Tech. The three companies are based in North Vancouver, B.C. and have been trading for 25 years.Foreshore Technologies Inc. is an underwater survey and inspection company that specializes in diving, environmental survey, structural survey and marine operations, utilizing innovative equipment and platforms for a broad range of clients.Balanced Environmental Services Inc.

Herman Sr. BV Orders First Damen DP2 Shoalbuster

Dutch marine services provider Herman Sr. BV announced that it has agreed with Damen Shipyards Group to order the first of a newly-developed Damen Shoalbuster type with full DP2 capabilities. This will be the first of a new class within the Shoalbuster series and one of the largest available. The vessel will be built at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld.35 meters in length, nearly 14 meters wide and with a free deck space of 150m2, the Shoalbuster 3514 will be a substantial working platform.

Damen to Supply Two Tugs to Safeen

Damen Shipyards Group has signed a contract with Abu Dhabi Ports and its subsidiary Abu Dhabi Marine Services (Safeen) for the supply of two new Damen ASD Tugs 2411.The contract was signed by Captain Adil Ahmed Banihammad, the Acting Chief Marine Services Officer at Safeen, and Pascal Slingerland, Regional Sales Director for Damen Shipyards Group. Delivery of both vessels is due within three months.Abu Dhabi Ports owns and operates 11 ports and managing over 55,000 vessel calls each year. The ASD Tugs 2411 will bring additional vessel handling capabilities to the group.

SENER-design LNG unit for Panfido

SENER signed a contract with the owner Rimorchiatori Riuniti Panfido & C.s.r.l for delivering the basic engineering and technical assistance in the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) SBBT unit, which will operate in Italy and the Adriatic. Panfido is one of the most important tug and barge owners in Europe, with 130 years of experience in marine services. This project is co-funded by the European Union through the Poseidon MED II program.The SBBT unit’s design is a combination of a LNG fueled tractor tug (powered unit) and a LNG bunkering non-propelled pontoon of 4,000 cu.

Gulf Marine Services Bags MENA Contract

Vessels provider to the oil & gas industry Gulf Marine Services (GMS) said that it was awarded three long-term contracts in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.The provider of advanced self-propelled self-elevating support vessels said in a press release that the new charters, which are subject to the completion of legal documentation and finalisation of the vessel delivery schedule, are for one Small Class and two Mid-Size Class SESVs and are currently expected to commence in Q4 2018/Q1 2019.

Tuco Delivers High Pressure Cleaning Boat for Akva Marine

Following deliveries of crew transfer boats and other ProZero workboats to Norway, Danish boatbuilder Tuco Marine said it has concluded another delivery of a 15m high-pressure cleaning boat to Norwegian AKVA Marine Services.The workboat is the second 15-meter high pressure cleaning boat that AKVA Marine has taken from Tuco. It was sold in collaboration with Tuco Marine’s local partner on the fish farming market.The 15m ProZero HPC boat is built from composite materials, reducing the structural weight of the vessel and ensuring low maintenance and superior durability.

Damen’s RSD Tug 2513 Nominated for KNVTS Award

Damen’s radical new ‘always bow first’ RSD Tug 2513 has reached the final stage of this year’s prestigious Maritime Award KNVTS Ship of the Year prize. As one of the last three entrants in contention for the award, the Damen RSD Tug 2513 will be judged on a range of criteria including its design, safety, economy, durability and construction process, and the winner will be announced at the Gala Dinner taking place on November 12th.The 25-meter RSD Tug 2513 is the result of years of research and development by Damen in cooperation with its towage customers and research institute partners.

Teekay Offshore Settles Dispute with Petrobras

Bermuda-based marine services company Teekay Offshore Partners announced that certain of its subsidiaries have entered into a settlement agreement with Petrobras with respect to various disputes relating to the previously-terminated charter contracts of the HiLoad DP unit and Arendal Spirit unit for maintenance and safety (UMS).
