Rolls-Royce, a global power systems company, has opened a new Marine Service facility in Guangzhou, to better serve its growing customer base in southern China. Rolls-Royce is expanding its marine services network in China to deal with increased customer demand. The new facility in Guangzhou joins those already in operation in Hong Kong, Dalian and Shanghai. The newly opened facility, located in proximity to Guangzhou’s busy commercial port and ship repair yards, includes a maintenance workshop and offices for a small team of service engineers and customer support personnel. Inchcape Shipping Services completes Northern Mediterranean expansion with opening in Algeciras. Inchcape Shipping Services, the world’s leading maritime services provider, has this week opened its doors in Algeciras – Spain’s busiest port. It is one of a number of new offices scheduled to be opened by ISS in 2012 and completes the company’s expansion in the Northern Mediterranean region. “The opening of the Algeciras office strengthens the company’s position in this important maritime region,” said Michael van Hemert, Senior Vice President for Europe and North Africa.

Rolls-Royce continued the expansion of its global marine services network with the ground-breaking for a new facility in Hamburg, Germany. The global marine services network is dedicated to helping customers maximize the operational capability of their vessels and manage their costs most effectively. The network now includes facilities in 29 countries and employs thousands of support staff, engineers and technicians around the world. The site will be home to a 2,000 square metre Marine Service Centre providing repair and overhaul expertise to its German customers. Rolls-Royce will invest $6m in the new centre, which will employ up to 70 people when fully operational. The new site benefits from being located within one of Europe’s busiest commercial ports.

Headquartered in Singapore, the network now includes facilities in 32 countries and employs more than 1,000 support staff, engineers and technicians around the world. The 4,000 square metre marine service centre in Genoa consolidates two offices and provides state-of-the-art repair and overhaul expertise in support of the company’s entire portfolio of marine products to customers throughout the Mediterranean region. In 2009, Rolls-Royce has opened six new service centre facilities, in North America, South America, Europe and the Middle East.
