Keppel Wins New Marine Contracts

Singaporean conglomerate  Keppel Offshore & Marine said that it has secured new marine contracts with a combined value of S$300 million (USD 220 mln) through its subsidiaries. According to a press release from the company, the first contract is by Keppel Singmarine with Shturman Koshelev LLC for the design and construction of an ice-class LNG bunker vessel. When completed in 4Q 2020, the vessel will be chartered to Gazpromneft Marine Bunker Ltd (Gazpromneft) for operations in the Baltic Sea. Keppel to Build South East Asia’s First LNG Bunkering Vessel

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd, has secured a contract from FueLNG, a joint venture between Keppel O&M and Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd, to build South East Asia's first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunkering vessel valued at approximately S$50 million. Scheduled for completion in 3Q 2020, the dual-fuel LNG bunkering vessel will have a capacity of 7,500 cubic metres. FueLNG will receive a grant of up to S$3 million as part of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore's (MPA) LNG Bunkering Pilot Programme (LBPP). Mr Andrew Tan, CEO of MPA, said, "We are pleased that FueLNG, Keppel and Shell are taking the lead in growing the LNG bunkering infrastructure in Singapore.

Subsea Construction Vessel Launched in Azerbaijan

The vessel was named Khankendi by the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, at a ceremony in Baku Shipyard and launched by the Shah Deniz consortium. Baku Shipyard LLC, a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC), has completed a Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV) for the Caspian region. The Khankendi will be deployed to the Shah Deniz field where it is expected to perform subsea installation and construction work over the next eleven years.

Wärtsilä Tests Remote Control Ship Operating Capability

Wärtsilä said it has taken a further important step toward developing its Smart Marine capabilities by successfully testing the remote control of ship operations. The testing, which involved driving the vessel through a sequence of manoeuvres using a combination of Dynamic Positioning (DP) and manual joystick control, was carried out on August 21 off the North Sea coast of Scotland in collaboration with Gulfmark Offshore, the U.S. based operator who provided the vessel for the project.

Keppel, BG Group JV to supply LNG Bunkers in Singapore

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through its wholly-owned subsidiary KS Investments Pte Ltd (KSI), and BG Group plc (BG Group) have been selected to supply Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunker to vessels in the Port of Singapore. The joint bid submitted by Keppel O&M and BG Group for the LNG bunker supplier licence is one of the two top bids selected by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The awarding of the licence is in line with the Port of Singapore's plans to launch the LNG Bunkering Pilot Programme in 2017. Keppel O&M and BG Group will work on forming a 50/50 joint venture to deliver an end-to-end bunkering solution using LNG sourced from BG Group's diversified LNG portfolio and leveraging Keppel O&M's expertise in LNG vessel servicing.

Caterpillar Diesel Electric Propulsion for Chinese Liftboats

Caterpillar Marine announced it will supply complete propulsion packages for two liftboats under construction at Jiangsu Dajing Heavy Industry Co Ltd in China. Two identical diesel-electric systems comprising four Cat Propulsion MTA-523 1500kW azimuth thrusters driven by electric motors and soft starters as well as eight Cat C32 generator sets will be delivered for each vessel. The two vessels, designed by Shanghai Bestway Marine Technology Development Company Ltd, are being built for Chinese owner Mekers Offshore Company Ltd and are due for delivery in summer 2016.

Bumi Armada Awaits Triple Delivery

Specialized shipbuilder Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), says it is on track to deliver three ice-class vessels to Bumi Armada Offshore Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Bumi Armada Berhad in September. The new vessels, two supply vessels and one multipurpose duty-rescue vessel, were named Bumi Uray, Bumi Pokachi & Bumi Naryan-Mar, respectively, at a ceremony at Keppel Singmarine Thursday. Rolls-Royce secured a contract to supply a power and propulsion package for an ice-class multipurpose vessel under construction at Keppel Singmarine for Singaporean shipowner New Orient Marine Pte Ltd. The propulsion package includes a 1,650kW and two 3,000kW tunnel thrusters, two US ARC 0.8 main azimuth thrusters and a single 3,000kW retractable thruster. As well as four Bergen B32:40V12ACD and two Bergen C25:33L6ACD generating sets which will supply the requisite power to the £132 million offshore vessel.

Caspian Sea Shipyard Wins BP Exploration SCV Contract

Keppel supported Baku Shipyard has won a first major contract from BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) Ltd, the operator of the Shah Deniz gas field development, to design and build a Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV). The contract is worth US$378-million, say the shipyard. When completed, the SCV will be deployed for the Stage 2 development of the Shah Deniz field, which lies some 70 kilometres offshore in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. The Shah Deniz Stage 2 project requires a subsea installation vessel to install the subsea structures over 11 years between 2017 and 2027. Azeri Shipyard, BP Sign Vessel Construction Contract

Azeri state energy company SOCAR's shipyard and British oil major BP have signed a $378 million deal to design and build a subsea construction vessel for the Shah Deniz II gas project, BP said on Wednesday. Azerbaijan's biggest gas field, Shah Deniz is being developed by consortium partners BP, Statoil, SOCAR and others. Shah Deniz I has been pumping gas since 2006 and has an annual production capacity of about 10 billion cubic metres of natural gas. The next phase, Shah Deniz II, is important for Europe in terms of providing an alternative to gas supplies from Russia's Gazprom.

McDermott Order Deepwater S-Lay Vessel

McDermott International inks contract with Keppel Offshore & Marine for construction of a dynamically-positioned combination S-Lay vessel with a 2,000-ton crane. The vessel, tentatively named Derrick Lay Vessel 2000 (“DLV2000”), will be constructed at Keppel Singmarine in Singapore and is expected to take approx 2.5 years to build. “DLV2000 is expected to address a market demand we consider to be extremely robust for deepwater pipelines as well as our traditional markets,” said Stephen M. Johnson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Keppel’s Logs $8.1B in Contracts in ‘12

The first contract is for a Coal Transshipment Barge for repeat customer PT Indo Straits Tbk, through its subsidiary company PT Pelayaran Straits Perdana and the second is for the construction of three tugboats for a new customer, an international shipping company. Keppel to Build World’s Largest Sheerleg Floating Crane

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd (Keppel Nantong) in China has secured a contract worth S$143 million to build a heavy lift sheerleg crane vessel for Asian Lift Pte Ltd (Asian Lift). Scheduled to be completed in 3Q 2013, the 5,000-tonne floating crane will be the largest and most versatile heavy lift sheerleg crane vessel of its kind in the world. Shipbuilding: Keppel Wins $113m in Brazilian Contracts

Keppel Singmarine Brasil (KSM Brasil), Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M)'s new 7.6-ha shipbuilding facility in the state of Santa Catarina, has secured two newbuild contracts worth about $113 million from fleet operators in Brazil. The first contract entails building a series of six 45-tonne bollard pull twin-screw Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) harbour tugboats, for REBRAS - Rebocadores do Brasil S.A. (SMIT Rebras). In the second contract, the yard will construct a large-sized 4500dwt Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) based on its proprietary MTD 9045P-DE design for Keppel O&M's Brazilian ship-owning arm, Guanabara Navegacao Ltda (GNL).This is the first vessel constructed under the business model to build Offshore Support Vessels in anticipation of demand in Brazil…

Keppel Secures S$240M in Shipbuilding Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through wholly-owned subsidiaries Keppel Shipyard Limited and Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd, has clinched new contracts totalling S$240 million. These comprise the upgrading of a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, the conversion of a livestock carrier, as well as the building of a diving support vessel. With these latest projects, the total value of new contracts secured by Keppel O&M in 2010 has edged up to S$3.2 billion. Keppel Delivers Five Vessels on Schedule

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine), the shipbuilding arm of Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M), has demonstrated its commitment to meet the needs of customers with the timely and safe deliveries of five ships. These five vessels, including a Multi-Purpose Supply and Support Vessel (MPSSV), an Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel and three tugboats, have all exceeded their contractual bollard pull and speed during the sea trials. Keppel Delivers Rescue Vessel

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine) has delivered a Multi-purpose Duty Rescue Vessel on schedule to LUKOIL-Kaliningradmorneft (LUKOIL). Jointly designed by Marine Technology Development (MTD), the ship design and development arm of Keppel O&M, and its consultants, Robert Allan, Kogalym is the fifth vessel Keppel Singmarine has delivered to LUKOIL since 2003. Named after a key production region for LUKOIL in western Siberia, Kogalym was christened by Mrs. Olga Kessler, Environmental Engineer (Labour Safety) of LUKOIL at Keppel Singmarine.
