DoD Awards Military Ocean Terminal Contract Modification

US Deptartment of Defense informs that Marine Terminals Corporation-East, Savannah, Georgia, was awarded an estimated $6,561,822 modification (P00013), extending the period of performance on previously awarded contract W81GYE-10-D-0002 for stevedoring and related terminal services. DoD explains that this is a fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. Work will be performed at the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point, North Carolina, with a Feb. 28, 2015, performance completion date. The modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $62,923,529 from $56,361,707. Fiscal 2014 funds will be obligated on individual task orders in the amount of $6,561,822. Virginia Port Authority Executive Director Named Chairman; Two Past AAPA Board Directors Receive Distinguished Service Award. Virginia Port Authority Executive Director Jerry Bridges was formally installed on Sept. 15 as the American Association of Port Authorities' (AAPA) chairman of the board for 2011-12. Mr. Bridges accepted his new chairmanship duties at a membership meeting in Seattle during which the entire slate of 2011-12 officers was inducted as part of AAPA's 100th Annual Convention.

Savi Networks to Extend Services to MTC Ports

Savi Networks, a provider of RFID-enhanced information services for global container shipments, and Marine Terminals Corporation (MTC), announced an agreement to extend SaviTrak services to MTC's port facilities. MTC is a leading U.S. stevedore and terminal operating company that handles more than 25 percent of the cargo container shipments on the U.S. West Coast. The partnership brings MTC terminals into Savi Networks' growing global community of ocean cargo terminal operators leveraging SaviTrak's managed information services. MTC operates 26 terminals in 13 ports across the U.S. West coast and at major ports in the U.S. South Atlantic region.
