Commercial Ship Still Hijacked off Somali Coast

A commercial vessel hijacked by unknown assailants remains off the coast of Somalia raising fears of further instability for global shipping as attacks escalate in the Red Sea, maritime security sources said on Monday.A Spanish navy ship was dispatched at full speed on Friday towards the Maltese-flagged Ruen vessel, which sources said had been hijacked.British maritime security company Ambrey said the vessel had reached nine miles offshore from Bander Murcaayo in Puntland, Somalia on Dec.

Warship Rushes in to Investigate Suspected Pirate Attack off Somalia

A Spanish navy ship is sailing at full speed towards a Maltese-flagged commercial vessel that may have been hijacked by pirates off Somalia, the European Union's Somali counter piracy force said on Friday.If confirmed, it would be the first successful hijacking involving Somali pirates since 2017 when a crackdown by international navies stopped a rash of seizures in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.EUNAVFOR's joint operations centre in Spain said it received an alert on Thursday about the "alleged pirate-hijacked vessel" Ruen, which was approximately 500 nautical miles east of Socotra Isl

Navibulgar Orders Four Bulkers

Bulgarian shipping company Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) ordered a new series of four 31800 ton bulk carriers in the Chinese Shipyard Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co.The century-old, largest ship-owning company in the country said in a press note that the deliveries are scheduled for 2021 and 2022.DNV- GL classification society is supervising the design and the construction process of the new lake fitted bulk carries. Navigation Maritime Bulgare possesses already other eight lakes fitted bulk carriers with DWT about 30,000 tons.The design of the new project has been jointly developed by the Chinese company Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering Co., Ltd and Navigation Maritime Bulgare.

Navibulgar Orders Up to Six Bulkers

Bulgarian ship owner Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) confirmed the building of another two high-efficiency up-to-date 45000t bulk carriers. This deal is a continuation of the contract for four + two newbuildings of DWT 45 000 t, signed in July this year with one of China’s three largest shipyards. According to local press reports the Chinese yard is Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. The order constitutes another step toward the implementation of Navibulgar’s objective to operate toward the middle of the 2020s its own fleet of 1.5 million tons of average age below seven years. The ambition of the company’s management is to establish Navibulgar as one of the leading shipowners in Europe in the sector of Handysize bulk carriers.

Tug Newbuild Alcor Delivered to Navibulgar

On June 2, 2017, MTG-Dolphin Shipyard delivered to Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) JSC the tug Alcor, the first of three vessels in series built to the RAmparts 2700 design by Robert Allan Ltd. The tug adds to the fleet of four tugboats in the Navibulgar fleet and is the first tugboat built by the Bulgarian shipyard MTG Dolphin PLC-Varna for the Bulgarian ship owner, who owns more than 30 bulk carriers. The naming ceremony took place on June 2 at Port of Varna and was attended by the Deputy Governor of Varna. The vessel is named after the star Alcor from the Big Dipper constellation.

Navibulgar Finalises Varna Shipyard

Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar), the nationally owned Bulgarian shipping company, has confirmed its acquisition of Varna shipyard, which has been in administration since January. Payment of the purchase price of $16.1 million was completed on April 8 and gives Navibulgar ownership of the assets of the yard. The asset purchase transaction does not involve Navibulgar taking over any existing debts. Navibulgar has stated that it intends to complete work in progress on vessels under construction at the yard. In addition to the bulk carriers "Trapezitza" (21,500 DWT) and "Doli" (42,000 DWT) on order for Navibulgar, the yard has a further two ships on which work is well advanced. Navibulgar Initiates Fleet Renewal Program

Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar), the nationally-owned Bulgarian shipping company and the country's fourth largest business enterprise, has placed three tween-deckers on the sale and purchase market as part of its latest fleet renewal program. Last month the company invited tenders for the three 11,750 GT, Bulgarian-flag vessels in a new move to upgrade its fleet as it prepares for a possible privatization decision from the Bulgarian government. In a related development, Navibulgar announced its intention to invest in enhancing its fleet of over 50 bulk carriers, which are engaged in worldwide trading on the international charter market.

Navibulgar Orders Three Ships

Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) has signed a contract to built three ships, according to a report on www.sofiaecho.com. According to the report, the three cargo ships will be built by Bulyard-Shipbuilding Industry AD, for delivery in December 2009, September 2011 and January 2012.

Bulyard Shipbuilding to Contruct New Vessels

Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) will receive three new ships after a contract for the construction of the ships was signed, Focus news agency reported. Bulyard-Shipbuilding Industry AD will construct the vessels. Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev was also present at the contract signing ceremony. The ships to be constructed will be cargo ships. They will be constructed respectively by December 2009, September 2011 and January 2012.
