Strategic Marine Awarded Another Repeat Order

Strategic Marine has signed another repeat order with Western Australian company Bhagwan Marine to deliver two new vessels to service the WA's offshore oil and gas industry, including the Gorgon Project. The new contracts for a 49.5 metre and 38 metre landing craft follows the delivery of a 48 metre landing craft to join the Bhagwan Marine fleet late last year and a 27 metre work barge in March this year. The multi-cargo vessels will operate in WA's north-west hydrocarbon province and have been designed to accommodate low incline beach landings.

Strategic Marine Launches Caballo Maya

Strategic Marine has successfully launched the first of two 496 ft Dive Supports Vessels, Caballo Maya (Hull 156) in Vietnam. The vessel was launched on the 5th of April, 2010, with the second vessel (Hull 157) approximately 90% complete and eight weeks from completion. “We were originally awarded the contract for Hull 156 in late 2006, and were engaged to exclusively carry out the steel fabrication works on the vessel,” explained Managing Director Mark Schiller. In late 2007 the Vung Tau based shipbuilder was awarded a contract for an additional vessel (Hull 157).

Strategic Marine Opens Shipyard in Vietnam

Western Australian shipbuilder Strategic Marine officially opened its $16.3m (USD) shipyard in Vietnam on February 24, demonstrating that the company is confident it can ride out the current global economic turmoil. Strategic Marine Chairman Mark Newbold told several hundred dignitaries and guests attending the grand opening that the Vietnamese yard had already won more than $61.8m in orders. Newbold said with three other yards in Australia, Singapore and Mexico, the company was currently constructing 63 fully-financed vessels with an order book value of $164.2m…

Strategic Marine Wins Tug Deal

Western Australian shipbuilder Strategic Marine has broken new ground by winning a contract to build a 23.9m new generation compact tug – the first tugboat signing in the company’s history. The vessel, which has a 60 ton bollard pull, has been ordered by the Port of Napier – another breakthrough since the Port becomes Strategic Marine’s first New Zealand client. The steel vessel, which will have a deadweight of 105 tons and a free-running speed of 12 knots, will be powered by a Voith Water Tractor.

Australian shipbuilder Strategic Marine has broken new ground by winning a contract to build a 23.9m new generation compact tug – the first tugboat signing in the company’s history. The vessel, which has a 60 ton bollard pull, has been ordered by the of – another breakthrough since the Port becomes Strategic Marine’s first client. The steel vessel, which will have a deadweight of 105 tons and a free-running speed of 12 knots, will be powered by a Voith Water Tractor. These propulsion systems have become a byword for safety, reliability and precision in ship-handling and escort applications, with 800 Voith tugs currently operating in 120 ports worldwide.
