SCHOTTEL Inks Pacific Northwest Service Deals

SCHOTTEL Inc (USA) and SCHOTTEL Canada Inc have entered into a cooperative agreement with two Canadian West Coast marine industry companies to support the increasing local fleet of SCHOTTEL-propelled vessels. In the agreement, Seaspan Vancouver Drydock, based in North Vancouver, will act as a service and support center while McRae Electric, based in Burnaby, will be electric and controls service provider.Since the establishment of SCHOTTEL Canada Inc in 2016, the number of vessels equipped with SCHOTTEL propulsion systems in the Pacific Northwest area have increased enormously.

Navalrocha Shipyard Active Despite COVID-19

Portugal’s Navalrocha Shipyard is reporting a flurry of activity in 2020 as it navigates the COVID-19 outbreak and prepares for a packed order book in the coming months.Navalrocha commercial director Sergio Rodrigues said the shipyard had recorded several landmarks during a highly memorable period in its history, completing its first multimillion Euro refit for a seismic survey vessel before managing its first ballast water treatment system (BWTS) installation.The projects were accompanied by a series of other deals involving bunker tankers…

Australia’s Largest High-speed Lobster Boat Delivered

Dongara Marine has delivered Australia’s largest capacity high-speed lobster boat, the 85-foot Holdfast.With capacity for 210 baskets or 6.2 metric tons of live lobster, Holdfast is the fourth 20+ meter lobster boat in as many years to be designed by Southerly Designs, joining Ohana (2015), Daydawn (2016), and Gambler (2017).Although not the lead builder for the Daydawn and Gambler projects, Dongara Marine played a key role as the manufacturer of their resin-infused composite wheelhouses.

CWind Wins O&M Contract at Humber Gateway OWF

The scope of work covers all 73 turbines and the offshore substation. Offshore work is scheduled to commence this June, with CWind utilising its office in Grimsby’s Fishdock. Serdijn Ship Repair Renamed ROG Ship Repair BV

Serdijn Ship Repair has changed its name to ROG Ship Repair BV. As one of the leading ship repair companies, the yard in located in central, easy accessible and strategic location in the main port of Rotterdam. The terminal is a recognized port facility as required by the ISPS code, whereas efficient in and out “open sea” access is guaranteed due to being west of all bridges. "This change represents more than just a new name," according to Martin van Leest, Managing Director of ROG Ship Repair. The Rotterdam-based terminal has in and out open sea access. Alongside the jetties there are lay-by facilities for (marine, sea-going and Jack Up) vessels up to 19m length, 6m breadth and 9.5 m draft.

EnerMech Secure £16 Million Contract

Mechanical engineering services company, EnerMech, has been awarded a process services contract by BG Group which could be worth up to £16 million. The three year contract (+1 year option) covers all BG Group’s U.K. North Sea assets including the Lomond, North Everest and Armada platforms. The workscope includes the provision of topside process, flange management and nitrogen services and is the first contract EnerMech has secured with BG Group. Aberdeen-based EnerMech said the contract win will create new jobs and take its total workforce to more than 1,400.

EnerMech Lands North Sea Contract

EnerMech s been awarded a £6.6 million contract by Apache North Sea Ltd. to supply and install four new Blow- Out Preventer (BOP) handling cranes on the Forties Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta platforms. The project, which will deliver four Stahl cranes and is expected to be completed by Q1 2013, will be serviced by a dedicated engineering team from EnerMech’s Aberdeen-based cranes division. The contract award builds on a number of existing multi-million pound crane operations and maintenance contracts held by mechanical engineering company EnerMech and represents a significant investment in the offshore infrastructure owned and operated by Apache.

Goltens Ground Breaking at DMC

Dubai Maritime City (DMC), the world’s first purpose-built maritime centre, announced that ship repair and maintenance company Goltens carried out a ground breaking ceremony of its new office and workshop facility in DMC. The company has launched its business in the city, and laid the foundation stone for the construction of facilities dedicated to building and repairing ships. Goltens, which has a strong presence in the Middle East and across 21 locations around the globe, are under a long term Musataha ground development agreement with DMC for two plots within the DMC.

Cummins Power for Arabian Gulf Crewboat

The Kuwaiti company, Arabian Gulf Mechanical Services and Contracting Co. Ltd., has been operating a 30.5-meter Grandweld-built crew boat since the summer of 2007. The successful boat, named Fraih-8, carries a 6.4-meter beam with a 3.25-meter depth allowing for 8400 gallons of fuel and 2000 gallons of fresh water as well as 195 gallons each of black water, grey water, Lube and hydraulic oil. Accommodation for an 8-member crew is provided along with seating for 24 off-shore personnel.Propulsion is provided by a pair of Cummins KTA38-M2 engines each producing 1400 HP at 1950 RPM and turning into ZF 3055 gears with 2.5:1 reduction and turning five-blade propellers for speeds in the 20 knot range. Engine controls are by ZF Mathers and steering is by Kobelt.

Keppel Opens Nantong Shipyard

Unveiling the sculpture, Soaring with the Can Do spirit, to commemorate the inauguration of Keppel Nantong Shipyard are Mr Luo Yi Min, Party Secretary of Communist Party of China (CPC) Nantong Committee and Mr Lim Chee Onn, Executive Chairman of Keppel Corporation. Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M) has officially opened its new wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd (Keppel Nantong), in Nantong, Jiangsu province, China. Min, Party Secretary of Communist Party of China (CPC) Nantong Committee, graced the occasion as the Guest-of-Honour, joined by more than 300 guests. The ceremony was landmarked by the sale of two 45-tonne Azimuth Stern Drive tugboats to Kuwaiti owner, Arabian Gulf Mechanical Services & Contracting (AGMS).
