MacGregor Bags 'Largest Single Vessel Order' in Offshore Wind Space

Deck machinery and equipment company MacGregor, a Cargotec subsidiary, has won what it says is its largest single vessel order.Namely, the vessel owner OHT has ordered a batch of MacGregor equipment for its under-construction offshore wind foundation installation vessel, Alfa Lift, being built at the China Merchants Heavy Industry shipyard in Jiangsu, China.Scope of supply includes the engineering, procurement, and construction of the monopile lifting, skidding, and transfer system…

MacGregor Signs LOI with CSSC

MacGregor and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) on strategic cooperation. The LOI was signed on October 29, 2018 at an executive level meeting in Beijing led by Lei Fanpei, the CSSC Chairman and Michel van Roozendaal, MacGregor President.MacGregor sees that this cooperation will further strengthen its presence in Asia and specifically in China, the world's biggest shipbuilding market. CSSC is a very important partner for MacGregor, as it is the primary shipbuilding group in China and well positioned as a global leader in the industry.The LOI relates to MacGregor's planned acquisition of the marine and offshore businesses of TTS Group and future cooperation potential between the two groups.

MacGregor Acquires Marine Business from TTS Group

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has entered into an agreement to acquire the marine and offshore businesses from TTS Group, a global provider of cargo handling equipment and services for merchant and offshore ships for an enterprise value of EUR 87 million ($106 mln). The combination of the two businesses will produce greater scale and diversification and will strengthen MacGregor's portfolio and market position in key markets for cargo and load handling equipment. Based on preliminary estimates, potential cost synergies are estimated to be around EUR 30-35 million on annual level and are expected to be reached within three years from closing.

MacGregor Acquires Rapp Marine

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed an agreement to acquire Rapp Marine Group (RMG) in order to strengthen its offering for the fishery and research vessel segment. The enterprise value of the acquisition was approximately €16 million ($19 million). With RMG, MacGregor is able to expand upon its existing portfolio which already includes various deck handling equipment, such as cranes and booms, to now offer complete solutions with advanced winches and related control systems. "MacGregor has a strategic interest in widening services for customers within fishery and research segment," said Michel van Roozendaal, President, MacGregor. "Products needed for these demanding vessel types have to be safe, robust and reliable with a good after sales network.

MacGregor to Split Smart Ocean Technology Division

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, said it will reorganize its offshore and merchant shipping operations as part of a plan aiming to achieve €13 million in annual cost savings. Under the plan, MacGregor’s Smart Ocean Technology division will be divided into two new divisions: Cargo Handling and Advanced Offshore Solutions. The statutory cooperation negotiations have now been finalized, resulting in restructuring of operations and reducing approximately 170 full-time equivalents globally. The measures affect MacGregor operations in Norway, Germany, China and Singapore. MacGregor employed globally 1,876 persons at the end of September 2017. Restructuring costs are estimated to be approximately €7 million in the final quarter of 2017, with planned savings to be reached in 2018.

MacGregor Sets up Head Office in Singapore

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has established a head office in Singapore, bringing to an end a period of more than three years where the company operated with a virtual head office. MacGregor president Michel van Roozendaal and vice president of finance Jani Oksanen will relocate to Singapore as of October 1, 2017. With a global customer base and large geographic span of operations, MacGregor said it will maintain its strong presence in Europe, where a majority of the company's competence centers are located.

Høyesen to Head MacGregor's Offshore Solution Division

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, creates a new division 'Advanced Offshore Solutions' by merging its two Norway-based divisions and combining the strengths in offshore mooring, loading and load handling businesses. With the new joint division MacGregor aims to gain synergies and improve the operations as well as customer service. Høye G. Høyesen has been appointed to lead the new Advanced Offshore Solutions division, which will become operative on 1 January 2016. MacGregor continues to develop its offshore operations based on its strengths in engineering and strong commitment to customer service. MacGregor customers will benefit from the stronger team of totally over 450 dedicated new building and service professionals in Arendal and Kristiansand in Norway.

Li to Head MacGregor's China business

MacGregor develops operations in China and strengthens its organisation by appointing Zhengyu Li (Frank) as Vice President, Head of China as of 1 October 2015. Mr Li drives the development of MacGregor business in the most important market in the marine industry. He will be a member of the MacGregor Group Executive Team and based in Shanghai. Mr Li has over 25 years of international business experience, during which he has held various leadership positions in successful global companies like General Electric and Caterpillar in the Asia Pacific region. He joins MacGregor from Caterpillar, where his last role has been Innovation Director. "We are very happy to welcome Mr Li to MacGregor.

Roozendaal to head MacGregor Business Area

Michel van Roozendaal (M.Sc. Aerospace Engineering; MBA INSEAD, Fontainebleau; b. 1963) has been appointed President of the MacGregor business area. He will be a member of Cargotec's Executive Board and report to President and CEO Mika Vehviläinen. Michel van Roozendaal joins from Ingersoll-Rand where he has been heading the Thermo King Global Marine, Rail and Bus businesses. Prior to this he has held global general management roles with companies such as United Technologies, Danaher, JCI and Honeywell. With over 25 years in technology businesses with exposure to product development, manufacturing and sales, van Roozendaal has been responsible for delivering integrated solutions to customers in a variety of different fields.
