Marlink Comms Solutions for 102 Miclyn Express Offshore Vessels

Marlink, a global provider of satellite and digital communication solutions, is implementing a fleet-wide migration of its smart managed network solution for offshore vessel operator Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO Group) to support its ongoing digitalization program. Under a contract of an undisclosed value, Marlink said it would outfit 102 MEO Group vessels with its Sealink VSAT solution, providing high throughput connectivity across the fleet, and enabling personnel on transfer and vessel crews to utilize connectivity for welfare purposes.

Singapore-based offshore vessel operator Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO) has appointed Darren Ang as CEO. Ang, who took over as CEO from Diederik DeBoer, has been with the company for 22 years.Prior to becoming CEO, Ang served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Before this, he served as Chief Marketing Officer of the company from November 2016 to March 2019, and Chief Operating Officer from September 2007. In addition, Ang was employed as an Assistant Engineer at A.P. Moller, a Petroleum Surveyor at Det Norske Veritas, and a Marine Consultant at Bureau Veritas.

Miclyn Express Offshore Bags Charters for 14 Crewboats in Thailand

Miclyn Express Offshore, a Singapore-based offshore vessel provider to the offshore energy industry, has secured contracts for 14 of its crewboats.The company on Monday said that 14 of its crew boats have been contracted for a long term charter "with a leading E&P company in Thailand for 1,095 days from May 2020.""This fleet of crew boats will support oil & gas production activity i.e. inter-field transfer of personnel and cargo, evacuation and emergency response," Micyln Express Offshore said.Miclyn Express Offshore did not provide any details on the identity of the client…

Venkatraman Sheshashayee Resigns as CEO of Miclyn Express

Venkatraman Sheshashayee (Shesh), Chief Executive Officer of Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO), will relinquish his position at the end of March 2018. Shesh joined MEO in 2014. He was responsible for the promotion, development and extension of the business of the Group as well as the overall management of the Group’s operations. Shesh’s intention was to serve as CEO for three years and thereafter pursue non-business interests. In this regard, Shesh has confirmed that he will relinquish his position as CEO at the end of March 2018. The Board wishes to express its appreciation for the commendable leadership that Shesh has provided the Company during his tenure. The Board is actively seeking to appoint a successor.

IRClass Sets up Advisory Committee in Singapore

The Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) held the first meeting of its Advisory Committee in Singapore. The purpose of the committee, which draws members from Singapore’s leading maritime and offshore companies, is to give expert guidance to IRClass in strengthening its relationship with the Lion Republic’s maritime cluster and across South East Asia. “In our relatively short existence to date, we have gone some way beyond the simple provision of classification services,” he said. “Life begins at 40, they say,” he added. The committee discussed the aims and objectives of IRClass in Singapore and South East Asia, and advised IRClass to focus on educating the markets not only on its classification capability but the range of its portfolio of services.

Veripos Positioning for MEO Fleet

Singapore-based Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO), a provider of offshore support vessels across Southeast Asia, Australia and the Middle East, has awarded Veripos a five-year contract for provision of high-precision GNSS positioning services in support of its fleet of 27 ships. Under the terms of the contract, Veripos will provide MEO’s fleet with its proprietary Veripos Ultra Precise Point Positioning (PPP) service designed to deliver decimeter-level accuracies globally together with associated integrated mobile receivers. ASL Marine Buys Next-Door Indonesian Shipyard

Headquartered in Singapore, ASL own four shipyards in Singapore, Indonesia (Batam) and China (Guangdong). They inform they have conditionally agreed to purchase for US$20-million a shipyard belonging to Miclyn Express Offshore Limited (MEO), located adjacent to its own yard in Batam, Indonesia. The Batam shipyard is  situated in a free trade zone with industrial areas designated specifically for shipyards with infrastructure such as roads, telecommunications, utilities and supporting services.

Navis Builds on Singapore Success

Navis Engineering has completed work on its latest project involving fast-growing Singaporean offshore specialist Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO), following the commissioning of the DP2 system on board the 70m ROV and diving support vessel Resolution. After successful sea trials and a christening ceremony at the Keppel Bay Marina, Singapore, the vessel has departed for Indonesia, on a three-year charter to Seascape Surveys. For Navis, the project follows quickly after its supply of the DP2 system onboard MEO Ranger, a 65m length platform supply vessel now operating in the Persian Gulf.

Nautis OSV Simulator Delivered to Miclyn

Miclyn Express Offshore Singapore purchased a Nautis Offshore Supply Vessel Simulator and Instructor Station for training of OSV activities within the Miclyn fleet. The simulator was delivered and installed by VSTEP. Miclyn Express Offshore has followed up this initial purchase with an order for an identical simulator destined for their Joint Venture Thailand Training Facility. The simulator deal for Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO) includes a 240-degree Nautis OSV Desktop Trainer and Nautis instructor station.

MPSV Endeavour Upgrades

Miclyn Express Offshore completed upgrading works on (MPSV) Endeavour. This project was undertaken by a specialized team based in MEO’s Batam shipyard. The team has had previous experience with upgrading works such as jumboisation, DP2 upgrading and complicated vessel conversions. Endeavour has undergone various upgrading works including cable laying and installation of a taut wire skid foundation. Gulf of Thailand PSV Charter Fixed

Miclyn Express Offshore's Thai J/V has taken delivery of the PSV 'UM Supporter' from Poet Shipbuilding & Engineering. The vessel immediately entered into a 3 year firm contract, plus two 1 year extension options, to provide coil tubing support services to a major oil and gas company’s activities in the Gulf of Thailand. This new contract is a continuation of a long standing relationship with between the two companies in this region. The fully SPS 2008-compliant vessel has total accommodation for 50 people and 500m2 of clear deck area space. Combined with a service speed of 12kts with twin 1946kW main engines, it is also fitted with two 9 tonne bow thrusters and a telescopic boom crane.

Thai Offshore Supplier Gets Chevron Contract

The 3 year firm contract with plus 2 x 1 year extension options is to provide coil tubing marine support services to Chevron`s production activities in the Gulf of Thailand. Uniwise Offshore will purchase a Platform Supply Vessel currently under construction in a Chinese Shipyard, to fulfil the service requirements. The vessel will commence operation in October 2012. The new contract is a continuation of a long standing relationship with Chevron in the region. CEO Diederik de Boer said, “This new vessel represents our sixth Offshore Service Vessel servicing Chevron in the Gulf of Thailand. We have been able to leverage off our strong operating track record in Crew/Utility Vessels to further increase our exposure to Chevron’s OSV operations.

First FB150 Installation, Tug Miclyn Enterprise

Inmarsat (LSE: ISAT), provider of global mobile satellite communications services, announced the first installation of the FleetBroadband 150 (FB150) service onboard tug Miclyn Enterprise. The installation of the SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband system was managed by Thrane & Thrane’s Certified Partner, Jason Electronics, at the Jalan Brigjen Katamso shipyard in Batam, Indonesia. Installation aboard Miclyn Enterprise, a multipurpose offshore support vessel owned by Miclyn Express Offshore, was completed in 15 minutes, and the first email sent and telephone call made within the hour. The FleetBroadband service is the first maritime communications solution to provide cost-effective broadband data and voice, simultaneously, through a compact antenna on a global basis.

Miclyn Express Offshore Takes Delivery

Following on the delivery of three 120-ft. (36-meter) crew boats in 2007 and early 2008, Miclyn Express Offshore has taken delivery of the Express 61. This 90-passenger crew boat is the fourth of the consecutively named Panamanian-registered vessels among the firm’s fleet. The Express 61, like itssisters, is powered by three 1350 hp Cummins KTA38 M2 main engines turning into Twin Disc MGX6690DC gears. With a total of 4050  hp, the BV-classed boats have a 21-knot cruising speed and a 26-knot maximum speed. Auxiliary power includes two Cummins 6BT5.9 DM powered generators.
