Twelve crew members of a cruise ship that docked at Piraeus port near Athens on Tuesday tested negative for the novel coronavirus in repeat checks by Greek health authorities, the ship's operator TUI Cruises said.The Mein Shiff 6 cruise ship had departed from Heraklion in Crete on Sunday with all 922 passengers having tested negative before boarding.But sample tests on 150 members out of the ship's total crew of 666, conducted at a land lab, detected 12 COVID-19 infections.Sailing off the island of Milos, the cruise liner made its way back to Piraeus, the country's biggest port, with better access to health services and equipped to deal with any emergency.

A cruise ship carrying about 920 passengers was expected to dock at Piraeus port near Athens, after 12 of its crew members tested positive for the coronavirus, an official at Greece's Civil Protection agency said on Monday.The Mein Shiff 6, operated by TUI Cruises, departed from Heraklion in Crete on Sunday with all passengers having tested negative before boarding.But sample tests on 150 crew members out of a total of 666, detected 12 infections. The ship's operators TUI Cruises said six of the 12 had since tested negative."They are all asymptomatic," the civil protection official said.

Norwegean shipping company Ocean Yield  has taken delivery of the modern suezmax crude tanker “Milos” yesterday (February 07).The vessel was built in 2016 by Sungdong Shipbuilding in Korea and is a sister vessel to “Poliegos”, another Suezmax vessel owned by Ocean Yield, the ship owning company with investments in vessels on long-term charters.The vessel commenced a 13 years’ bareboat charter to Okeanis Eco Tankers Corp (“Okeanis Eco Tankers”) upon delivery.Okeanis Eco Tankers was established in 2018 by the Alafouzos family to take over its fleet of modern tanker vessels and tanker newbuildings.With seven tankers built 2015 to 2018 and eight VLCCs for delivery in 2019, the company will focus on eco-designed vessels fitted with scrubbers.

Norwegean ship owning company Ocean Yield ASA has announced that the Company has agreed to acquire a modern Suezmax tanker for a consideration of USD 56.0 million with 13-year bareboat charter to Okeanis Eco Tankers Corp.The purchase price includes a seller's credit of USD 7.0 million, giving a net purchase price of USD 49.0 million, said the owner of vessels within oil-service and industrial shipping areas in Norway.The vessel, "Milos", was built in 2016 by Sungdong Shipbuilding in Korea and is a sister vessel to "Poliegos", another Suezmax vessel owned by Ocean Yield. GoodBulk, an owner and operator of dry bulk vessels announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire 7 to 13 Capesize dry bulk carriers from entities managed by CarVal Investors. Milos is the first vessel in a series of two Suezmax Crude Oil Tanker, built by SungDong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for Kyklades Maritime Corporation. The vessel is built under the survey of Lloyd’s Register and designed in accordance with IACS Common Structure Rule(CSR). The vessel features a double side skin and has a flush deck, bulbous bow, transom stern, open water type stern frame, semi-balanced rudder and single propeller driven by a slow speed diesel engine.

Electrochlorination equipment supplier De Nora has received an order from tanker company Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) for its BALPURE ballast water treatment systems (BWTS). OSG will retrofit the proprietary slipstream electrochlorination BWTS on four 69,000 DWT chemical and oil product tankers within the first half of 2017. De Nora will supply its BALPURE BP3000-C system, which can treat up to 3,000 m3/h of ballast water, for installation on the Overseas Goldmar, Overseas Silvermar, Overseas Rubymar and Overseas Rosemar.

De Nora announced a contract with Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) (NYSE MKT:OSG), one of the largest tanker companies in the world, to supply two ballast water management systems (BWMS). De Nora BALPURE systems will ensure that the Overseas Milos and Overseas Athens, both 50,000 DWT product/chemical tankers, will discharge ballast water that meets or surpasses the environmental discharge limits set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and United States Coast Guard (USCG). As a leading provider of global energy transportation services, OSG owns and operates a combined fleet of 78 vessels internationally and in the United States.

A Greek cruise ship carrying more than 1,200 passengers and crew docked safely at the Aegean island of Milos after discovering a large crack in its hull, Reuters reported.  The crack, which is above sea level was discovered after the Aquamarine cruise ship left the island of Crete for a tour of the Aegean with 872 Greek and foreign passengers and 407 crew, it said. The Aquamarine, owned by the Louis Group LCL.CY, had left the Cretan port of Herakleion at 0800 GMT and shortly afterwards the crew heard a loud noise and discovered a 1 metre-by 30 cm hole on the side of the vessel, about 2.5 metres above the water level.  The official said all passengers were safe.

Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. announced that it has taken delivery of the Milos, a newly built, 4,600 dwt double-hull bunkering tanker, from Fujiian Southeast Shipyard in China. The Milos, which will be operating out of Aegean's Singapore service center, is the first of seven scheduled newbuilding double- hull bunkering and specialty tankers to be delivered in 2007. In addition to the Milos, the Company announced today that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the Angeles B, a 1980-built 11,474 dwt double- hull bunkering tanker. The Company expects to take delivery of the vessel on or about July 16, 2007. double-hull bunkering tankers with Fujian Southeast Shipyard, China. The five vessels are scheduled to be delivered in 2009.

Minoan Lines subsidiary Minoan Flying Dolphins added to a recent flurry of vessel acquisition with the purchase of 10 more ferries for an undisclosed amount, bringing its total fleet to 63 vessels. The ferries purchased are: Poseidon Express II, Pegasus, Milos Express, Papadiamantis, Poseidon Hellas, Aeas, Apostolos, Hellas, Aphaea and Aegina. Minoan Flying Dolphins' fleet includes 34 new technology ships, 25 of conventional technology, and four RoRo ships.
