Guice Offshore Adds Three Vessels to Its Fleet

Louisiana-based offshore support vessel owner Guice Offshore (GO) has expanded its fleet with three new vessels, including another 170 ft. DP1 multi-purpose vessel and two 205 ft. DP2 platform support vessels.The vessels will operate as GO Explorer (170 ft. DP1 MPSV), GO Crusader (205 ft. DP2 PSV), and GO Adventurer (205 ft. DP2 MPSV). All are Jones Act-qualified and dually certified Subchapter L & I by the U.S. Coast Guard.The GO Explorer and GO Crusader recently completed special survey dry docks and upgrades…

Vestdavit Wins First Finnish Naval Order

Vestdavit won its first order with the Finnish shipyard Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) to supply davits for a series of the Finnish Navy’s four newbuild multi-role combat vessels.The Pohjanmaa-class corvettes are to be built at RMC’s shipyard in Rauma, Finland as part of the navy’s $1.36B Squadron 2020 project to replace seven ageing vessels and each will be equipped with two of Vestdavit’s davits.The warships measure 114 x 16m and have an ice-strengthened hull for work in ice-bound waters…

Rolls-Royce to Equip ECO’s New Tugs

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) worth more than $41 million to deliver propulsion and deck machinery for 13 new tugs, including five which will have a direct bollard pull of around 150 metric tons. The 13 tugs are being designed and built at Chouest-affiliated shipyards in the U.S. with support from Damen’s Technical Cooperation program. The five most powerful tugs will be 45 meters long and 17 meters wide, making them the world’s largest of their kind to date.

Ports Claim PIANC Certification Key to Compliance and Regulation

More than 65% of port owners, operators and contractors said they request and check PIANC certification to ensure that marine fenders are sold as described, according to the third Barometer Report from Trelleborg’s Marine Systems business. Rolls-Royce £20m Support Contract

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has signed a long term contract with BAE Systems to provide in-service support for the Royal Navy’s Type 45 destroyers. The Type 45 Daring Class destroyers are each powered by two, cutting-edge, Rolls-Royce WR-21 gas turbines. This contract, worth £20 million, is part of an innovative approach to supporting the Type 45 fleet - known as Class Output Management. This arrangement will deliver guaranteed availability of the WR-21 engines to support the ships’ demanding operational schedules…
